  1. The Brock/Taker finish looked like a mistake to me, the way Taker appeared to kick out at the last microsecond, and then the way no one really knew how to react in the ring afterwards. Also no music hitting and Heyman's reaction (which was gold, as usual). If they planned all of that, then major kudos to WWE for making it a true shocking moment.
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 11:37 PM) WWE authority figure Vickie Guerrero is leaving WWE after WMXXX. The widow of Eddie Guerrero is leaving on good terms and will be pursuing a career outside the industry. Good f***ing riddance. Never liked her, and not in the correct way. She was in that Jeff Jarrett/Sean Waltman/Chyna "get off my television" category.
  3. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 02:26 AM) Tony P's Dockside grill in Marina Del Rey is great. Thats pretty close to VB if I remember correctly. I think our hotel is in or very near to Marina del Rey! I'll check out Tony P's. Thanks!
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 23, 2014 -> 09:47 AM) Vb has lots of good restaurants on the water. I also love omelette factory for breakfast. It's right across from a great Chicago bar. Thanks, Rock! I think breakfast is included with our hotel, but I will keep that place in mind. Any other recommendations, anyone?
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 23, 2014 -> 02:40 PM) That sucks. He was one of those hugs where you'd say,,"Hey, it's that guy" when you saw him. I love auto-correct.
  6. Headed to the LA area in a couple weeks with the wife and kid. I was hoping for some restaurant and activity recommendations. We are staying in Venice Beach, going to Disneyland and to a Kings game, and the Mrs. wants to do one of those whale-watching things. Any good restaurants in VB and near Staples Center and Disney? Thanks in advance!
  7. I don't think The Streak will ever be broken, and I'm okay with that. I don't believe the powers that be have the level of confidence in anyone to have them end it now. There was a time when Mr. Kennedy was considered to end it, and then like a year or so later he was gone. My guess is they'd like to drag Taker out to 25-0 if at all possible and have that be that.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 09:23 PM) The build is old school awesome. No physical contact before match. Just words. Can't wait. They did brawl at the end of the show, but it was in the middle of a cluster so it's okay to me. Reigns is very close to ready for his breakout. He's finding his character promo-wise, and that's all he was missing.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 7, 2014 -> 04:57 PM) Ok Joe, I have an idea. We are going to paint tribal stuff on your face, and wrap your thumb up and make it an unstoppable deadly force. You will scream and grunt a lot and spit a little bit. You wont talk. What do you think? *walks out door* Yeah, I know, but it could have been a way in the door. Umaga could have morphed into something better in time. Even the badly-burned, voice-boxed Kane became "management", so as WWE loves to say, Anything Can Happen!
  10. QUOTE (scs787 @ Feb 7, 2014 -> 05:25 PM) Joe has always been a big ol boy...Haven't watched to see how much bigger he's gotten. I don't think he's much bigger than he's been in the past, but he has taken to wearing a t-shirt more often now.
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 7, 2014 -> 12:10 PM) I watched TNA for the first time yesterday. When did Samoa Joe get so fat? He could pass for Umaga easily I think he stopped caring. He's been there while they trot out every former WWE guy on Earth, and I think he put it on cruise control. It's the wrong approach, but he wouldn't be the first guy to mail it in. EDITED to add: wasn't Joe offered the Umaga role back then? I think I remember hearing that on some podcast.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 12:41 PM) I think even the Juggalo Wrestling Federation would laugh at this I think Impact is better than it was a couple months ago. If anything, I wish they would drop the "Evil Dixie" storyline. She's beyond awful on the mic, her facial expressions are moronic, and the whole angle detracts from the show. The wrestling on Impact is generally very good and they have a few people who are funny and interesting (not least of all, Bad Influence, my favorite non-Bray Wyatt thing in wrestling right now). Impact is WAY better than SmackDown almost every single week.
  13. Wear the 1969 uniforms or the 1987 uniforms, please. '69 home uniform - I love it, although I recognize that it's too Tiger-y: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/atta...hite_sox-_3.jpg and of course, the 1987 home uniform: http://starterjackets.files.wordpress.com/...te-sox-1987.jpg
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 07:44 PM) I'm pretty sure he was just fine in the clubhouse. The reason he bounced around so much is cause he was a light hitting, awful defensive of whose injuries destroyed his one plus tool. Please don't forget his amazingly weak throwing arm. The only reason he was able to hit that GWHR in game 2 of the 05 Series was because he couldn't throw out the Astros runner scoring from 2nd when he had the ball as the runner touched 3rd. I almost never did that "I could do such-and-such as well as that guy" thing about pro athletes, but I am pretty sure I could throw a baseball as hard as Scott Podsednik.
  15. Mae Young has passed away. RIP to a lady who would do whatever ridiculous thing Vince asked her to, and would make the best of it. Taking a Bubba Ray Dudley powerbomb through a table at 77 years of age? Crazy, but she did it and it's memorable.
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 07:22 PM) What's the last one? New Orleans Pelicans mascot with the Clark face.

I saw The Wolf of Wall Street over the weekend. I liked it a lot. I'm off-and-on with DiCaprio, but he was great in it. I never like Jonah Hill in any movie, but he was great. Margot Robbie is very easy on the eyes. Overall, a very enjoyable movie. Nothing earth-shattering, and I don't believe 20% of it happened as depicted, but I liked it.
  18. Dadgummit Ducksnort or Carl Yastrzemski or Ted Williams or Hawk Stone
  19. I'm so happy for Frank! For the first 7 years of his career, a Frank at-bat was a "stop what you're doing and watch" event. I was on my honeymoon in 1992 and we were about to leave the hotel and Frank was batting against the Royals. I was like, "Hang on just one sec. I gotta watch this." Of course, Frank blasts one over the CF wall. "Okay, we can go now".

I haven't watched TV at all this year.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 31, 2013 -> 09:39 AM) They need the hype going into Mania, as much as it sucks. I know, but do they have to be going for the title? Surely a Batista/Taker or Lesnar/Taker match would drum up as much interest as either of them going after Orton or Cena. Hell, I'd have brought out Batista when Lesnar was calling out someone, anyone from the back. Maybe that's where they're headed and they needed Brock to destroy someone like Henry to build the mystique.
  22. Haven't we had enough of part-timers in the title picture?
  23. The Critic replied to Texsox's topic in SLaM
    Unbelievable, but true.
  24. I'm all for it if it means we gat Crazy Bryan again for a while. I'm betting this is short-term to elevate the Family and probably to help Bryan win the Rumble and get back into the title picture. He doesn't need them to do that, but it adds a wrinkle to the story and most likely turns the Family into bad-guy babyfaces for a while.

Quite slow at work today. I leave at lunch time, but it's going to feel like I've been here 10 hours.
