Both guys were tagging. Both had the same distance to go. If the throw beats Mendick to the bag, the catcher isn't ever scoring.

Because Mendick shouldn't be tagging unless he's 100% safe there given the importance of that run. You have a catcher on 3rd base.

If the absence was elongated in anyway, they'd be able to put him on the 60 day IL with an earlier activation date if they make it retroactive. That said, based on the lack of word from the White Sox this sounds like a regular strain and I'd guess he's back by end of June.

hmmmmm. I played a lot of baseball as a kid; I can't recall ever asking a kid on a team where he was from, let alone questioning how a team was put together. No one said JRW didn't break the rules, what was said is that they were the ONLY team in the history of me playing/following the game that were held accountable for said "rule." Rules should apply to everyone, not just the select few.
