White Sox vs Guardians GT 4/21/22
Tony is more worried about getting his utility guy going than his young star CF'er. Kind of funny when you think about it.

Tony told us Vaughn would not be a platoon guy, but it's quite obvious that he's a platoon guy with everyone healthy. If he can't get in the lineup everyday with Haseley and Leury and etc starting, then how can he with Pollock and Yoan back?

Are you joking? Heseley will likely not even be in baseball in like a month. Vaughn is a kid who doesn't need a day off after a double header and two days off. I used to play 100+ games a summer in travel ball with double and triple headers on the weekends all the time. These are grown men. There's no reason that the reserves should play as often as they do these days.

I'm cracking up about this. Haseley is like Nick WIlliams all over again - likely to be out of baseball in a couple weeks but Tony has to play him multiple times over much better players; he's literally the last guy on an expanded roster. La Russa plays him over Engel and Vaughn. Best part is he plays the worst defensive player on the team in RF instead of putting Nick williams Jr in RF. Why Engel/Vaughn aren't playing today... I'm not sure anybody knows. The Sox have had a ton of off days. Vaughn will now have started 8 of 12 games (66%). On pace to play 106 games.

GT: Sox @ Guardians Game 2: Lambert vs. McKenzie
Lot of hard hit outs. His strike zone command hasn't been quite as elite either. I think he'll get there; his slumps always look bad. I can't help but wonder if the knee is still bothering him too given his limited time at catcher.

4 innings, 7 k's, 2 hits, no runs so far for Carlos.

Shame for the pitching. They held it close but tlr didn't give em a chance

GT: Sox @ Guardians Game 2: Lambert vs. McKenzie
Because they're not a better team when both are at full strength as Jack said? It's April 20th. Almost nothing has changed from what we expected 10 days ago.

No.

Mckenzie real good but we touched him up last year and were patient. Maybe they shock the world. I'm more worried about lambert.

GT: Sox @ Guardians Game 2: Lambert vs. McKenzie
I kind of think veterans should be treated differently, but I would hope and think these guys would WANT to play the 2nd game. Maybe they do but La Russa is sticking with the plan. This team operates as if they're the best team in the NBA - they give rest and guarantee quite a bit of it under the guise that these games don't matter because they're so talented and the playoffs are a lock. It's a dangerous path to choose. I also think it's a bad mindset to play with and did them a disservice last year.

GT: Sox @ Guardians Game 2: Lambert vs. McKenzie
I knew this lineup was coming earlier, but it's frustrating to not hold the guys accountable and throw them back out there to redeem themselves in game 2.

4/20 game thread Sox at CLE
I would disagree with this.

4/20 game thread Sox at CLE
The way I look at this game is Bieber was on the mound, so having shit Keuchel give up 10 is the right time to do it.

4/20 game thread Sox at CLE
Nah well, these games happen. On to the next one.

Robert has been incredibly unlucky - his wOBA vs his xwOBA is 193 points different. One of the five most unlucky players in the game this year so far.

GT 4/19: Sox @ Guardians - Keuchel vs. Bieber - PPD rescheduled as a dbl hdr 4/20
Trying to figure out why we're still pitching Lambert instead of just skipping his time through.

postponing because of "cold" is pretty sad.

Ball Talk 2022
I believe it was determined that baseball switched balls in the middle of the year last year. Edit: Here's the study.

Tired of hearing about how little the Sox hitters strike out
Show me this correlation you've just made up in your head. Last year the two teams with the lowest k rate in baseball were: Toronto and Houston. Jack apparently thinks that's bad... those offenses were pretty damn elite. Those two teams also led baseball in wRC+. They were also 1st and 4th in OBP. I'm pretty sure not striking out is in fact very good.

I'm talking about those stats, yeah. Not his tweet per-se; don't even know who that is.

Ballpark prices
Trade service mark-ups thru March of 2022. While the supply chain has impacted pricing and impacted demand as supply has been limited, much of the rhetoric surrounding "inflation" is merely tied to corporate mark-ups being higher than they were before. Which again correlates directly to consolidation and the allowance of countless mergers and buyouts over the last few decades.

Maybe corporations should stop using "inflation" as an excuse to price gouge. This is going on especially in the food and beverage industry where profits are at record highs for many producers/distributors while prices continue to be hiked under the guise of inflation. I guess that's what happens when you allow a select few in the beef, pork, produce industry to consolidate to a point in which they control and dictate pricing in the absence of competition; same story in the supply chain/logistics world as well. Turns out that commodities shouldn't have been turned into an avenue utilized by investment banks as investment opportunities instead of being treated as life-necessities that couldn't be traded/help/futured/moved for the sole purpose of profitability. Additionally, this is very much America; been trending this way with labor degradation and profitability driving all business practices in the defiance of moralistic standing for two+ decades now.
