Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to CentralChamps21's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Oh OK jimmy, yes no one was laughing because of money. Two people literally said Twins have never offered a fa contract that big and yada yada. Sigh. -

Been saying this for a while but the margin for error for the Sox will be no where near where it was last year. -

I remember when everyone was laughing at the idea that the twins would be in on conforto. Lol -

And you think this organization admits to that and dumps the salary already? No chance. -

Why would the sox pick up his contract to salary dump it? -

If he was getting paid market value, then he wouldn't be tradeable at that rate for a viable prospect. I'm not sure you even know what you're arguing. -

Because kenley Jansen was deemed to be worth 1 year 16 million. Not 1 year 16 million + a top prospect or a quality mlb player. -
This is beautiful. Not only elegant, but sympathetic, empathetic, and caring towards our significant other.

Soxtalk logic I'm trying to understand: Conforto not signed yet with very few rumors - "It's because he's asking for too much money and isn't worth his ask and will end up getting way less given how long he's been on the market." Kimbrel not traded yet with very few rumors - "It's because there's a huge bidding war and so many teams interested in him, he absolutely will not be here opening day." -

Also, and maybe I'm just not in with the times.... but how can someone have a podcast about the White Sox 5 days a week 52 weeks a year? What can you talk about for an hour a day for the many weeks of year baseball isn't being played? Also, how big of an audience can there honestly be for that? I'm not a big podcast guy in general, but just don't understand that draw there. -

Jim isn't perfect, but he does have a strong historical understanding of the organization and it's players and is a good reference for White Sox history imo. He also doesn't pretend to have knowledge or ideas on potential trades or inside info. Nelson on the other hand... he has been portraying himself as that kind of person in the last year and it's just not a good look on him. He's that drunk guy at games yelling behind you things that leave you wondering if it was their first baseball game ever, or if they've ever even picked up a bat before. -

Josh Nelson really has no idea what he's talking about. He seems like a nice guy, but his knowledge on contracts, baseball, trade value and player values, and beyond is just so poor for someone who speaks on so many platforms about the game. I don't neccessarily disagree with the general point he's making here, but listening to this guy talk about baseball and the White Sox is like listening to Chicago White Sox talk about making rational life decisions on where one should live and why. edit: Southside2k on one of his weird post deleting tantrums. -

All jokes aside, FTR, everyone who plays baseball at any high level speaks "baseball." -

I wouldn't have signed josh Harrison with $5 of your money. -

not my money; all I care about is the Sox winning games and championships. I'd sign him for 100 million of jerry's money tomorrow and the next day. guy has gotten filthy rich enough off support from people like myself. -

Calling him a platoon bat is pretty disingenuous. -

Which is kind of why I think the Sox are a real nice fit for him because they smash lefties and can afford a bat who struggles a bit against them. -

Think Conforto is in one of those tough spots too where he had a bigger offer on the table previously than he is likely being offered now, and he's just trying to get back to that initial Mets offer so he doesn't have egg on his face. -

I don't blame her one bit, but I do blame ChiSox59 because he's a grown man. Say it whifff your chest, young man. -

I bitched about trading for Cesar Hernandez; when you were out there talking about his power and needing him with other people on this very board. I pointed out at the time of the trade that there was a very good possibility based on his production and approach change that Leury Garcia would/could outperform him the rest of the year. People called me crazy then. Now I'm saying that I'd rather have Cesar Hernandez - someone I never liked and hated trading for - than Josh Harrison because Leury Garcia is even more likely to be better or as good as Harrison as he was for Cesar Hernandez. You're acting like I am some Cesar Hernandez fan. I never wanted him. Hated the trade. But it's undeniably much more likely that he outperforms Josh Harrison in 2022 than vice versa. My personal feelings about a guy are entirely irrelevent when evaluating expected outcomes, and front offices should be making decision based on expected outcomes and not some preconceived notion of his body language in the eyes of ChiSox59. -

Your passive aggressiveness is similar to my wifes. Josh Harrison hasn't had a better/more productive season than Cesar Hernandez since 2015. Harrison is also 3 years older than him. In what world is that me knowing best? It's stating data based on actual outcomes that Josh Harrison is not as good of a player as Cesar Hernandez. -

Pal, you posted: "The Sox are definitely interested in Conforto, even if it hasn't been super publically stated." How can you state something so absolutely without an inkling of evidence supporting your claim? Then get upset by anyone calling the proclamation without merit? -

People are asking for Cesar back instead because he's unquestionably better than Josh Harrison; despite what you feel about his "demeanor" or "emotional fit." -

Not the Sox? Difference is I don't think a lot of other fanbases are out their floating offers their teams have probably made to a guy they haven't been linked to. Also difference is teams like the Red Sox have openly admitted they're still looking to acquire some marquee free agents. Mets have recently leaked their offer to Conforto and discussed AAV. The Sox have basically openly bowed out of the FA discussions, at least publicly.
