Predict the 1st Free Agent Signed
No, they're not going to decline a below market value salary. People think the Cubs are going to turn down a 10.5 million dollar option. My goodness. They could pick up the option and trade him a day later for an asset. They're not going to let him walk.

Predict the 1st Free Agent Signed
No competition? Both FA's signed for the money that was expected. Another tired take is that the Sox had a better chance because teams like the Yankees and Dodgers weren't interested. Neither of those teams overpay guys just to get them. Hell the Dodgers let greinke walk to a divisional foe!

Predict the 1st Free Agent Signed
Once again, the white sox went nearly 2 decades spending the highest percentage of revenues on payroll in baseball. Jr may be risk averse in FA and has a history of not inflating salaries but calling him cheap is such a baseless claim. He'll spend money on a team that can win, it's really that simple and it has been proven time and time again.

Predict the 1st Free Agent Signed
Why would they grind McCann down in a dead month if they planned on using him next year? Your logic on this is terrible. So, because the white sox used a player on their roster for 10 games that means he's coming back? So I guess all the other bums that played in september will be back next year by that logic. Dont act shocked when this opinion ages really poorly.

What? You wouldnt be surprised if the sox brought back someone that theres practically a zero percent chance they bring back? Uh ok.

Machado do-over
Its just hilarious. He says that Ozuna is going to demand 80 million, and that needs to be considered when judging him vs myers. Yet myers costs 80 million over the next 4 years too... and myers has 1/2 the career WAR of Ozuna through the exact same age so how the shit are those two even comparable?
-
Machado do-over
Giving 18 million to a reliever who is still in baseball, has had a long and successful career, is somehow worse than the Padres giving 25 million to a guy who was never a big league caliber player and may be on his way to jail. Incredibly hot take there.
-
Machado do-over
Avi Garcia was let go and signed for 3 million dollars. Wil Myers has 80 million dollars over the next 4 years. What are you rambling about? The padres would have to give 50%? How is 40 million equal to 3 million? Um, yes it's an open and shut case that ozuna is significantly better than myers.
-
Machado do-over
Literally no one would take on Myers contract unless the padres threw in substantial prospects. So you think the last three years of myers career have been what exactly? A fluke? Hes had 3 WAR combined. Hes only had ONE year in his career over 2.3 WAR. What do you mean falling apart in his prime. He's only had one year in his big league career where he was above average. His contract and Hosmer are untradeable if you expect the salaries to be picked up fully.

How will they trade Myers? Lol

Machado do-over
Um.. one guy is out of baseball and the other just had 125rbi 33 hr season.

Machado do-over
Tell me how their core is just as good. Tatis is the only young big league prospect that has excelled so far - I guess I'd say paddack as well. If the sox signed machado and abreu their payroll would be like 60 million. How are those the same place? Please tell me who the myers and hosmer contracts are on the white sox.

Would you trade for Mookie Betts, and what would you trade
No. Why trade any long term assets for a 1 year rental that you can buy next year without giving up assets?
-
Machado do-over
I did read. People have said repeatedly his contract would pay for itself and it's just not true. Yes, someone said it may be short lived but then who cares? What's the point of bringing it up.
-
Machado do-over
This numbers means nothing if the contracts impede on winning going forward. That one year attendance bump would be cancelled out by the decline caused by bad contracts weighing down your payroll and preventing you from winning.

Rendon thread
Deferrals make it much different. Its basically 14 years 210 million. This is the same shit they did with Harper. The nats have a history of offering big money but not nearly as big as it sounds as they defer a lot of it making it a much smaller offer per year.

Machado do-over
Man, people really need to stop citing the $10m/WAR figure as if that's how you analyze it. 3 WAR is not worth 27 million. I'm not sure how many times this needs to be said, but that's not what teams were paying for 1 WAR at time of signing - it's what teams pay on average for WAR based on all FA and their production throughout their contract. Teams are more than likely looking to get about 5-6 WAR out of the front end years on a 30 million/year contract. Those numbers are skewed by older contracts to guys like pujols.

9/27- Sox vs Tigers, 4:00, NBCSC
Dtv broke when att bought it. It was once the only good cable/internet/phone (utility) company in the country. Great customer service, always took care of you if you were a long time customer. Could call and get new customer price, Sunday ticket discounts and etc.. Then att bought them and they went to complete shit.

Think sanchez is playing for gold glove reasons. Dont think he wins it but he certainly deserves it.

9/26- Sox vs Indians, 7:10
I thought so as well but was surprised by the crowd in general. 17k not bad for season being over.

Fun game. Cordero has been great. And what an incredible play by Timmy - the timing with the hops was unreal.

9/26- Sox vs Indians, 7:10
Got it. At the game, and happy it's nothing bad. Just think he needed to increase his innings a little more. Also a bit disappointed as I hadn't caught him live yet. That selfish reason doesn't matter, just the innings increase does.
