Fulmer: An awesome deep dive on his driveline winter
Kiley McDaniel is clueless? What?

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Yes, so if Bryce signs with a team no one thinks he'll sign with... Also, Boras isnt signing first. Baseball is allowing agents to run their game. Boras and Lozano trying to show who has bigger balls and is better at their job. It's a big waste of time. You are worth what people are willing to give you whether or not you like. That's the way it is.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
I would love to know how Bryce signing first would help Manny. Heyman is the biggest agent pole smoker in the industry.
-
Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Dude this is complete nonsense. 200 million dollars is a shit ton of money even if you have 200 million. Athletes have gone broke making more.
-
Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Lol this is truly amazing. It is obviously not team preference. For anyone thinking rationally, this is 100% about money and setting a market for other free agents and making sure they maximize their earnings.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
None of this matters. Jeeze. Manny didnt not sign because he hates Chicago hot dogs. He didnt sign because his agent hasnt determined that the offer they have received from any team is good enough for their expectations. He didnt sign with the Yankees for supposedly 220 million, so he hates them too? Free agency isnt like finding a girlfriend - it's like finding a sugar momma. Manny doesnt give a fuck how pretty the white Sox or any team is. Manny cares about getting the most money possible with the ome major contract he is likely to sign. People are making this personal when it's 100% business.

Arrogance maybe. They had fixed and worked with so many young arms and reclamation projects they probably thought they could get the most out of him.

NBC owns the same amount as the white Sox- 20%. The ownership of said channel was NEGOTIATED last TV deal. It was part of the offer. If anything it makes a stronger case for my argument. Owning a stake in the network is even more valuable than a regular deal. And yes, I knew that.
-
Machado signs with Padres 10/300
No. That is not how it works Jack. I cant go to NBC and say I have a killer softball league based in Chicago and since so many people are already signed up for the channel, I should get a cut of that to broadcast my league there because I'm in Chicago too. They pay you based on what you bring viewer wise, not based on their subscription total. That would be absurd.
-
Machado signs with Padres 10/300
No. NBC doesnt just give money away because they get money from the cable companies. They sign deals based on perspective eyes on that program. The white Sox TV contract had nothing to do with the Chicago Blackhawks. I have no idea where you got that idea.
-
Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Well they didnt sign a joint contract last deal so I have no idea why any of that matters. Jack this is all nonsense. Facts and stats prove it. Merchandise sales prove it. Team worth proves it. TV contract proves it. Enough dude.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Jack, I have literally proven you wrong on this already. If you think the Padres, Twins, Reds and Marlins have bigger markets (which is outrageous) then why the heck do they have TV contracts that are a fraction of the White Sox, and why are their organizations worth significantly less? Those are facts Jack. The White Sox are worth anywhere between 300-500 million more than all the teams you listed and claimed had a "bigger market." The White Sox had about 45% of the Chicago Metro area fanhood according to the NY Times study I linked prior. You say they have 25%. Serious question, why do you root for such a dreadful organization if this is how you feel? It seems odd. 25%. So 1/4 of the Chicago Market is worth 1.5 billion. According to Forbes, the White Sox are the 14th most valuable franchise in baseball, but there one of the five worst somehow. Something isn't adding up Jack.

Pal, you are losing your mind. How are they in the bottom five? Padres Twins A's Rays Marlins Reds Royals There are more, imo, but you can't argue that any of those teams are better for a player to go to. Definitely bottom 5?

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
The White Sox are in the 3rd biggest market in the country; of course they wouldn't provide less exposure than the Padres, Rays and A's as Jack is stating.

Fulmer: An awesome deep dive on his driveline winter
One of the few places this team has excelled in the last two decades have been pitcher development and health. The White Sox did not fuck with Sale's delivery because they didn't believe it was violent and dangerous. The White Sox do believe that of Fulmer's, and that's alarming because this teams ability to maintain health and take risks on guys other teams wouldn't has been second to none and they felt Fulmer was in trouble throwing the way he did prior.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
You are correct. The White Sox have a ton of depth in the minor leagues, and a lot of potential movers this year - like a Steele Walker, or a Sheets, Luis Gonzalez, Burger, micker and etc that weren't on that fangraphs list. Burdi is 17th on their list and if he comes back healthy, he could easily be the best RP prospect in baseball.
-
Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Based on Jacks post, the White Sox are the worst franchise to play for in all of baseball which is clearly absurd. A guy with Jack Parkman as his name is calling the White Sox the least known/recognized team nationally... I know it's not the 90's anymore, and the Sox aren't in pop culture as much as they were, but my goodness Jack back off the ledge.
-
Machado signs with Padres 10/300
The White Sox have graduated 4 top prospects in the last year - Kopech, Moncada, Gio, Lopez. The Padres have not; so I'm not sure how the Padres have more/better talent. They just have talent that we haven't seen at the big league level yet. They have more top 100 prospects because they haven't graduated any of them. The Sox have more prospects between 100-125. There isn't much difference between 125 and 95 in expected outcomes.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Well, Boston traded for them. Basketball is a salary capped sport. Jerry doesnt go into luxury tax without having a chance at a title but hes not exactly cheap either there. He definitely operates that like a business though more than the sox. Trading... idk what you mean? What big stars did they try to trade for? The Knicks got melo because hes from New York and lives there?? Seems different

The bulls problem is more about cold weather cities in basketball and the Jordan hangover. For a while players didnt like how Jordan and pippen were treated. Then they didnt want to pay on a team in which Jordan would always be the biggest bull ever and not them.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Just angry anti-Jerry people here. Being top 5 spenders multiple times and being compared to a team that is sitting in the 20s every year and has one year with a total payroll of 37 million lol.
-
Machado signs with Padres 10/300
What is ironic? That the Padres averaged payrolls around 25th in baseball for 15 years and the Sox were about 8th over a 10 year period. What's ironic is people think those things are similar because ONE year in 15 the Padres spent 30ish million less than the sox.
-
Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Yes, but the Sox sustained top tier payrolls. Also, the Sox payrolls were higher earlier which effectively makes them higher. Jerry proved he'd spend top 5 money for a winner. San Diego has never proven they'll spend top 15 money period.
-
Machado signs with Padres 10/300
The White Sox had TOP FIVE payrolls in baseball. What are you talking about Jack? 2013 - 8th 2012 - 10th 2011 - 5th 2010 - 7th 2009 - 12th 2008 - 5th 2007 - 5th 2006 - 4th How can you even compare these two teams? One team has been in the top 10, 6 of the last 12 years. The other team has never been in the top half of the league.
-
Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Honestly, just seeing that IDK why anyone would sign there. They have never even been in the top half of the league in payroll. They aren't a franchise with cash rich owners either. The Padres are what they are - big spenders not being one.
