Sox Sign Jake Lamb
They have to be hoping Vaughn proves capable enough so they never have to give Eloy a glove again right?

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Just curious, anyone who has had to get a test done recently, have they been asking if you have already been vaccinated? Seems like valuable, important data to be collecting.

White Sox are still a World Series Contender
No I'm in the same boat, I'm just not hitting the panic button is all.

White Sox are still a World Series Contender
Moncada bouncing back (it looks like he is going to), and Robert taking a step forward (idk maybe, maybe not) would probably more than make up for the Eloy sized hole in the lineup year over year.

White Sox are still a World Series Contender
Friendly reminder that this team lost possibly the greatest RH hitter that ever lived and replaced him with fucking Carl Everett

Predict the Lineup
I think the lineup from the other day is a pretty safe bet. I think it was Anderson robert Abreu Moncada Eloy Grandal Eaton Vaughn Madrigal I'd probably flip Robert and Grandal for now though

3/18 vs Royals, 3:05
No but It’s absolutely an overreaction to see 1 inning of spring training ball and say he’s toast though.

How sharp is your axe at this point

3/16 vs Padres, 3:10
Not getting to balls is not his problem. That's like the one thing you can legitimately hang your hat on with him at short as being solid.

Backup Catcher (update 3/29 - Lucroy won't make team, asked for release)
And you have Vaughn, Abreu, Eloy, Grandal, and probably Moncada occasionally who will be getting DH at-bats, With Vaughn and Grandal getting time at 1B as well. Where is Collins getting at bats to start the season if you also have Lucroy around? Don't really care which one it is because I think they both stink, but what is the point of both?

Backup Catcher (update 3/29 - Lucroy won't make team, asked for release)
Idk going with Mendick, Engel, Leury seems like a wise move to me. Back up infielder, Back up outfielder, back up wherever he needs to play guy. Makes much more sense to me than having Lucroy and Collins on the team at the same time.

Game Thread - 3/15 Sox vs Cubbos - 3:05 PM CST
Because the guy who is safe normally doesn’t walk away. the only way it’s not a double play is if Maybin left before the other runner was tagged.

Game Thread - 3/15 Sox vs Cubbos - 3:05 PM CST
The lead runner is entitled to the base. Maybin was safe the other guy was out.

I thought that play should have been a double play and I thought I was going insane. Happy to get validated.

Yeah but there’s 27 teams in the same boat.

Fans at opening day? Fans at Opening Day! (confirmed)
Not true. At the very least this is not fully understood and they can't yet say that vaccination doesn't prevent transmission.

2021 Bullpen Hype Thread
There's so much depth in this thing that I think it's really unlikely you don't end up with two or three guys who are lights out. Don't really know who it's going to be, there will probably be someone. Also possible the bullpen ends up being crap, but I don't think that's likely.

I would think they'll sell those tickets easily even given the possibly suppressed demand..

**Movies that we Watch** Thread
Bee Gees documentary on HBO is very good, and paints Disco Demolition as the embarrassment it was instead of through some weird rose glasses.

Jimmy Cordero...the forgotten breakout candidate
I'd MUCH rather have Cordero than lopez

Idk about Illinois, because this is the first i've heard about this, but I know in NJ it's pretty much just the honor system.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Cases may, and probably will go up, but I don't expect this to get out of hand again.

Giolito says there hasn't been talks on an extension
It's a combination of too late, and to be honest, too risky. He's built up enough resume to demand a big offer, but not quite enough where you're comfortable giving him a ton of money.
