QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) Somebody correct me if im wrong but didn't Jose just get lit up last year when Widger caught The equation is a simple one: Widger's game calling ability + Contreras feeble mindset = meltdown.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:38 PM) And Joe Borchard I'm an admitted Joe Borchard backer..I still think hes invaluable to the team. Hell look we got Matt Thornton for him! I knew he had long term value.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) Maybe you need someone to explain to you the concept of a knee jerk reaction? I've been saying our starting pitching hasn't been good for nearly a month. Feel free to read up on that. Thanks, but I'll pass on that. Regardless of when you starting ripping the entire rotation it's still undeserved and completely off base to call the starting staff "in shambles" as you did a few minutes ago. I've collected all the information I need.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) Got to have a back up catcher though. I wouldn't mind seeing Miggie Olivo back here *shudder* stop that nonsense right now...

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) We're not winning anything with this starting pitching. It's really become the weak spot of our team, more so than CF, SS, or the bullpen. I can't believe people can be so blindly satisfied with our starters. I'm not blindly satisfied at all with our starters. They have under performed. Garland has been terrible most of the year, Garcia is mediocre but wins games, Mark has been Mark, Jose hasn't look that great since coming off the DL and Javy Vazquez is erratic as to be expected. It has been far from dominant but when your record is 51-26 how freaking upset can I possibly be? Knee jerk reactions are awesome

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) great, rain delay. Anyone know if it's going to blow over or is this game pretty much done? It's going to blow over pretty quick..45 minute rain delay or so

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) I'm ready to be done with NL ball. I don't care how much we've beat them, it's just terrible to watch. I have no idea what this means

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Well, Contreras is at 84 pitches. I would much rather see if he can straighten himself out the rest of the game, even if it means losing. Our starting pitching is in shambles right now. WOW..we are 11-1 in our last 12 games and you made this comment...awesome

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) It will be interesting to hear how anyone can support that move. Well were trying to save the bullpen for that big cub series coming up? Um, Jose deserves to stay in there because he is a grinder? Um, He looked good in the 2nd inning when he took that walk? Um, Shut up, you're a f**?

Widger's game calling abilities + Conteras feeble mindset = meltdown... Plus as soon as I saw Widger batting sixth today I knew that would come back and bite us in the arse. I would rather have BA hitting six then Widger.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) Personally, I don't understand why he decided to change what was working great. It's not like he needed to add more to his repetoire. This I agree with..why make changes to something that isn't broken.

Anyone care to explain what Crede did that was so reprehensible?

Took a really cool Indie Rock class back in college. Got to hang out at Steve Albini's studio one day, and then Jeff Tweedys loft on the Northside another day. If I had been a fan of Indie music before I had taken that class these two experiences would have been high on my list of coolest things I've ever done. Albini was a character... Tweedy was his mellow self... Very cool stuff though.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) Another worthy topic on the frontpage of Palehose. Can we start losing or something? Nope

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) Who will strike out more looking... thome or podsednik? I believe it is a damn good race and they usually like to match each other once one does it during a game. Pods has to be leading the league in strikeouts looking. I dont think anyone can compete -
Thanks for the Recap Bmags!! Nicely done...sounded like a pretty solid music weekend sans the rap artists disappointing a little. But that is often the case at festivals for some reason.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 11:57 AM) Nope. Tejada and Giambi played together in Oakland. oh really........you dont say. But wasn't it Palmeiro who stated that Tejada gave him the Vitamin shot or whatever that he blamed on his testing positive for steroids? p.s. I could be completely wrong here
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 10:02 AM) Tejada has had his name thrown around before in connection to Jason Giambi as well. Do you mean Rafael Palmeiro?

So going by this score in the Ghana game today the US would have lost 4 or 5 to 0 against Brazil had they have made their way into this game? Kinda sad. -
We already have TWO Major league quality starting shortstops on this team! How can this thread have so many posts?

QUOTE(innersanctum @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:22 PM) Relax. Even had he not made the attempt at the catch, it appeared that it would have hit fair and if it had, the whole thing would have happened the way that it did anyway. I love the White Sox and try to find humor in events that would normally drive me nuts. My week is not ruined because we did not beat the Astros last night. We have 6 games in a row at NL parks for the next 6 days who, if you combine the total number of wins between them, have 54 to our 49. It should be a good week for all White Sox fans. I twas just joking around my friend...I simply enjoyed that little jpg i found. My day was also not ruined by the Sox loss, in fact if you look at who started this thread because of leaving early, it was me!!! I'm not even a real diehard fan, just some imposter! -

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:48 PM) Holy hell if that was you that grabbed the ball I have to tell you I was laughing my ass off when I watched the tivo of you tossing it back on the field. That was almost as funny as when he hid in his jersey afterwards -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:05 PM) Forza Italy Oh that Dutch game yesterday was bulls***. Screw the Portugese players and there dirty ways. I normally would have been rooting for the Dutch, but I'm not a big fan of their coach. He's hard headed and takes personal issues on the pitch with him. When he failed to bring in Van Nistlerooy and opted to put in Venegoor of Hesselink for him my opinion of him is in the crapper. How can you not play one of the most prolific goal scorers in the game when you're down a goal in the WORLD CUP? I would imagine he is taking a beating in the Dutch press after that. As for the Aussies/Italy game. More terrible officiating. The red card on Italy never should have been and the PK was questionable at best. I feel terrible for the Aussies but once again I thought their coach did a terrible job of using his substitutes.
