  1. Did you honestly think he was going to hit .310 with 60 HR's and 150 RBI? Delusional fans are awesome. I expected .280, 40-45 HR's and 110 RBI. I see no reason why that won't happen. I'm happy with what he has been doing. If you weren't prepared for him to strike out a lot then I'm not sure what to say to you.
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 09:16 AM) With him most likely unavailable last night, it basically gets reduced to a 2 game suspension. Its better to be a little short against the Pirates than just about any other team out there right now. I think its the right move. I think Montero will be sent down and Politte brought up by tomorrow's game. Although Politte wasn't all that effective his second time out. According to the Tribune Politte won't be brought up till Wednesday at the earliest. Hes supposed to pitch again today for the Knights and then they are going to decide what to do with him. It makes sense to bring him back up for now since Montero has been just as ineffective as Politte was before his stint on the DL. Chicago Sports Sox Briefs
  3. Awesomeness For the few on here who actually know me I hope you found this as enjoyable as I have
  4. Ahh...so I missed a game filled with rain, fan interference, and a loss in the 13th Inning? I can live with that.
  5. I am proud to say I left the game when it was 9-2. I got home on time to see Houston score the go ahead run in the 13th inning after a debacle ensued. Comments are appreciated. TIA
  6. QUOTE(Hurons @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) Same place the sox fans were since when...1908...until last year. I came across this board last night and saw a post asking Tiger fans to register...so I did. I do not consider myself boisterous at all. If I come across that way so be it. I will gladly fade to black and you can have your precious pro sox board free and clear of competitors boisterous fans. A thread pops up that says Die Tigers and you dont expect a least a few posts abbout the Tigers from their fans? Pwn3d
  7. QUOTE(Hurons @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) sure....but that takes nothing away of what Inge is doing. Hes done well at third for a converted catcher, no doubt. I'm just trying to figure out why I'm supposed to care!
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) Sadly this is true, a whole hell of a lot of Sox fans are drinking the kool-aid right now and ignoring the situation simply because it's Ozzie being Ozzie and the team is winning. So hypocritical. "Ozzie being Ozzie" is quickly supplanting "smartball and smallball" as the dumbest phrase in White Sox Nation.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) Nope, this is the sort of thing that needs to be said publically, the organization has taken a major hit this past week with Ozzie acting like a child. KW is just trying to restore some sort of credibility to the team. Who knows what he said to Ozzie in private, you all act like they don't talk off the field, for all you know KW and Ozzie discussed this before KW even did the interview. I would love to see the reaction of this board if Ozzie was the Tigers manager after this week of stupidity. I guarantee "classless organization" and "fire him now" would be uttered repeatedly.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:11 AM) It absolutely amazes me that any White Sox fan could some how not love Kenny Williams. I'm calling the NAACP...maybe they're on to something. Seriously, KW has done more for the Sox than Ozzie Guillen ever will do. This current roster could probably win at a similar clip with me as the manager. This thread is beyond hysterical.
  11. QUOTE(bmags @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) the constantines live are great. Jose gonzales...jon brion...bloc party...good stuff. its only 20 bucks for live music...in nice chicago park... I flippin love Bloc Party. The Constantines are kinda fun too. I would have liked to go to the Fest but i'm out of town
  12. Bmags, Los do either of you planning on going to the Pitchfork Music Festival? Looks like a pretty solid lineup.
  13. The first night Mulder was tipping his pitches. His arm angle changed, his windup slowed and his armed slowed on every breaking ball. I could see this from my seats and knew it was a matter of time before he got lit up. As for Marquis I wasn't there so I really can't say, but the first night the only one at fault was Mulder himself.
  14. Tonights game was probably our best played game this year. Garcia was great and economical on his pitches. We hit 'enough' and Jenks was dominant. Flat out awesome, and I got home before 10 pm!
  15. Garcia was consistantly 90-93 all night tonight on the Cell gun. So I would say his velocity is most of the way back. He didnt get the Strikeouts today but he kept the hitters off balance and from what I saw didnt throw any Freddy patented hanging curveballs. I was pretty impressed by him. As for the kid from the Cards, yeah he was pretty damn good.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) Great comeback by Ivory Coast. Dismal showing by SCG. They'll be glad to put this one behind them and move forward as Serbia. Well somebody had to 'die' in the group of death...
  17. He's still in baseball? Does that mean I can still find a pair of those black patten leather spikes he dons on the mound?
  18. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 09:17 AM) I sit on the aisle, and theres definitely a pro and con about sitting on the aisle. Theres a pro and con to every single task, decision, or path you choose in our life. I enjoy sitting on the aisle, God forbid I have to hand some dude a hotdog and a beer.
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 11:56 AM) What reason would Ponson have to lie to Steff? I've got friends with histories but that doesn't mean I can't take their word on stuff. Now I'm confused Regardless as to if it was intentional or not, I'm glad Riske retaliated. This is the second time in a week a pitcher has hit our batters in a shady fashion. Regardless of the truth, I'm just happy we got one back. Call me a jerk, call me what you will.
  20. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) Portugal/Neth should be a solid match. I wouldn't count out the Portugese just yet. The Portuguese definitely have the talent to beat anyone in the world. I'm just not sure they can get it done on the World stage. We shall see...
  21. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 11:32 AM) do yellow cards stick for the entire tourney then right? I'm pretty sure they start over once the elimination games begin. However, if you get a second yellow in your third match in pool play, you sit out the first match in the knockout stages. So after this game the slate gets wiped clean.
  22. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 08:53 AM) Owen is done for England. Yikes. Mexico/Portugal up soon. Mexico needs at least a tie to advance. Portugal has already advanced and might just take the day off, but might look for a victory in order to avoid Argentina as it's next opponent. Well Mexico loses but advances to the next round. I really can't see either of these teams (Portugal or Mexico) giving Argentina or the Netherlands trouble but anything can happen. Meanwhile, strap it down for the Oranje vs. the Argentines. Should be a good one, even though some starters will be sitting on their yellow cards.
  23. It will most likely be played. The weather schwami has spoken. (yes that is spelled horribly wrong, and I hate Chris Berman).
  24. I would rather the Indians eliminate themselves before the Allstar break. The Cubs are such a trainwreck at this juncture its pointless to root against them so I'm hoping they go into Cleveland and sweep away the Injuns. Plus I've never been one to spend my time rooting against the Cubs. Too bad that is never going to happen.
  25. Didn't Jeff Zimmerman start out the season almost completely unhittable his rookie season for Texas in 1999. IIRC he had a 0.50 at the allstar break or there abouts...
