Which EPL jersey should i buy
Chisoxrd5 replied to Jimbo's Drinker's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 9, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) What no SPL? You could go with Celtic. You know, cool guys wear green. If you are looking for someone to recognize the jersey, all of those are good choices. My suggestion is to go with the team you like the best. Do a bit of research if you dont know much about the teams. Try to make a connection to the team. I have a guy at my work that wears an Indian hat. He has for years, when I asked him is he an Indian fan. No, but the hat looks pimp was his answer. Plus he should wait a few months till the new kits come out. I know that Man U is changing sponsers which will entirely change the look of their uniforms. Do a little research, wait to see who gets signed and who gets transferred to each respective team and pick a kit that you like. Don't go buy one now or you could end up with a player that isn't even on the team come August. -
Ok so before reading this entire thread is my summary correct? 1. Rumor posted 2. bashing of said rumor 3. Rumor gains legs 4. Rumor gets verified by one of the radio stations 5. People react 6. Backlash to bashing of said rumor So in closing Haeger may start on Wednesday...MERCY

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 8, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) He calls himself an escape artist/performer, he gave up the magic a while back. The only he did/does that I enjoy is his card tricks. As much as I'm aware that his douchebaggery and my stupidity make them enjoyable I still am bewildered and entertained by it.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 7, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) I think Soxtalk is home to the highest % of lefties in the world. too funny..I'm also a lefty.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 7, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) I dont remember Widger catching for Buehrle much last year. Isn't this 2 in a row with Buehrle/Widger? pretty sure its 3 in a row. And the last two have not ended positively. At least Mark seems to be using the cutter today.

Could the Royals hitters hit the ball any softer? goodness

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 6, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) Juan Pierre has a f***ing cannon, did you see him nearly nail Greene at the plate!?!?!?!?! Seriously. San Diego really needs to cut that infield grass, did you see how it miraculously slowed down Pierre's throw? What a travesty. Someone tell Jerry Hairston he doesnt have to run to the pitchers mound when someone steals a base. Nice tag buddy

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 5, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) I dont know about him being a wuss, but he was downright pathetic the last 2 games of this series. Kinda sucks when you can pick up a nobody like Malik Allen, and he contributes more to your team than a top draft pick with a long term contract. The bulls had a moderately sucessful season with perhaps the worst collection of big men in the league. Chandler is a waste and it downright pathetic hes getting paid the max contract to contribute 2 points and 3 rebounds.

Admission - I hate the term 'small ball' and don't like how it is used by the masses to fit there own baseball agenda.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2006 -> 08:56 AM) No love for Brian Anderson? Much like the voting for the actual gold glove you are not recognized by the voters unless you consistantly hit over .250.

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ May 4, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) alright guys there is nothing wrong with blowing people out my worry is that jim thome and paul konerko won't stay on fire the entire year in that case I think we have to be able scratch across a run, and if our entire team tries to be a hero when the bats aren't hot (don't pretend it will never happen) going for homeruns won't work The fact is as long as Jim Thome stays healthy his production is NOT going to tail off. His average is at .295 which is 14 points off his career average. He can and most likely will hit 45 plus HR's and his doubles are sure to increase as he averages 30 2 baggers a year. Konerko's average will probably dip slightly but hes not playing way over his head either. What you need to understand is that our offense with Thome in the middle is an entirely different animal than last season. Additionally, we did hit 200 HR's last year so statistically speaking we are hardly more Home Run dependant than last season. Pretty sure you are stressing out over nothing. Just for my amusement: Through 28 games this year - 37HRs/28 games = 1.33 Hr's p/game 2005 Season stats - 200HR/162 games = 1.24 Hr's p/game Most telling stat - OUR RECORD IS 20-8!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2006 -> 08:12 AM) I would definately say the s***ty starting pitching has been a way worse problem. They are out of games quick. Their pitching has been far from stellar but when you're averaging 0.84 runs per game in your last six games I would say that would be a major issue.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 2, 2006 -> 11:30 AM) Hafner kills all pitching, especially the AL Central, especially the Tigers. Yeah hes not a Sox killer, just a damn good hitter.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 2, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) In 2006 Widger CERA 7.94 vs AJ CERA 3.18 pure happenstance
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 2, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) Mark not fooling any of their hitters. You should do play by play... On the brightside at least Vazquez made Hafner look silly. Apparently the rest of our pitchers haven't caught on.

QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ May 2, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) neither for long, this game is going to be rained out Are you Tom Skilling?
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 2, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) I'll take my chances with Widge instead of completely taking Mark off his game if you slow him down. IIRC in Seattle after the three run second inning they started relaying signs to Widger. take it for what its worth but something transpired after that second inning in Seattle.

It's not raining there yet but from the looks of it we may be in for a rain delay.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 2, 2006 -> 10:59 AM) AJP caught a four hour game last night, has been plunked twice in the last 3 days, and there's a tough lefty on the mound. I have no problem with him sitting out. My only concern is that Buehrle/Widger don't mesh well today. Yes there is logic behind him sitting. But at the same time I can say I would like to see him in the lineup. If you read Sunday's thread when people were b****ing about him not playing I played the same card you just drew on me. We will probably see the calls coming from the dugout again today with Widger and Buehrle as the battery.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ May 2, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) The only lineup change I would have liked to see is Pods in LF, and Ozuna at DH. Agreed. Its hard to fathom taking out AJ who is hitting the cover off the ball right now.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 2, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) I'd say they're much more tired today than they'll be tomorrow seeing how there'll be about a 16 hour turn around from the end of the game today to the beginning of tomorrow's game. No, logic is not gonna work here. Soxtalk has made a habit of complaining about Ozzie's sunday lineups and nothing, not even facts, can stop this from occuring.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ May 2, 2006 -> 10:13 AM) I say we steal until they actually catch us. Victor Martinez is 0 for 26 in throwing out baserunners this year. So I agree, run and run often.
