  1. I like Campbell. I love the frame, delivery, ease of effort, secondaries (especially ability to spin) and the strike throwing. It's easy to dream that 90-94 will be 92-96. I like Preillip and Whisenhunt but I think they'll both be gone. I'm out on Tidwell, Hjerpe and Hughes and don't like the idea of underslotting a guy like Bennett or Harington.
  2. I don't know. The ability is still there but the desire is gone.
  3. So they mocked a college pitcher, college hitter, HS pitcher and HS hitter. I think it's safe to say they don't have the first damn clue who the Sox are going to take.
  4. They would unless the analytics department killed him. You never know with them.
  5. They would shit themselves if Susac was there at 26.
  6. I agree. I hate the Sox strategy of putting most of their money in a couple players then drafting college seniors with the rest. Trust your scouts to find the guys who will take slot money 3-10 and your development department to turn them into big leaguers. That's what the best orgs with the deepest systems do. If you can't trust your guys to do their job then why the hell are they there.
  7. I think they're gonna take a pitcher with the first pick but it wouldn't shock me if they went with a bat. Last year they were taking Gunnar Hoglund but when he was gone there wasn't another pitcher they liked better than Montgomery. If Horton, Preilipp, Whisenhunt and Campbell are gone and Cole Young, Jett Williams or Drew Gilbert are somehow sitting there I could definitely see them taking one of them over the Hughes, Tidwell, Hjerpe group. I think that scenario is unlikely but in this draft they should be ready for the unlikely. One thing I feel pretty strong about is they're gonna get a college catcher somewhere in the top 5 picks. Their organization catching situation is grim.
  8. Cease has to learn to get out of his own messes. That's what the great ones do. They don't rely on the bullpen finish the job for them.
  9. Yea lets rush more guys thru the minors so when they get to the big leagues they're horrible fundamental players who don't know how to play defense or run the bases correctly.
  10. It could if you're pulling off the ball. He has to drive that outside pitch to the opposite field but he's trying to pull everything so he either hits a pull side groundball or shanks one the other way. He's not at a stage in his career where he can hit like this.
  11. Robert is just too much of an undisciplined hitter to hit with an open stance. He's not Manny Machado. He's just not willing to hit the outside pitch the other way.
  12. I have a soft spot in my heart for funky lefties but I think they could do much better than Hjerpe with that pick.
  13. I would cut Horton slack on not having a 3rd pitch yet. Top HS pitchers don't throw many changeups, he missed his freshman year with TJ and came back a month and a half into his sophomore year. He simply hasn't had time to develop it. If he shows feel for a change during his bullpens and he checks all the other boxes I wouldn't hesitate for a second to draft him. He can learn to throw a change and he has plenty of time to develop it. I think calling him a reliever at this point is short-sighted.
  14. What a fun trade. This is why they need to make all draft picks tradable. I lOVE Hoffman. He was drafted out of Illinois where his stuff played down a little which seems to happen a lot there but it came back in pro ball. You'd be hard pressed to find a better more competitive kid than him.
  15. Agreed on Tidwell. If they're gonna take banged up arm (and there's no shortage of them) take an elbow guy and stay away from the shoulder guys.
  16. Next years draft class is stacked. I think he'd be a fool to turn down first round money.
  17. Bob Nightengale is an idiot....unless he says something I want to hear! Rick Hahn's lawyer skills are strong.
  18. Chicago White Sox: 10th pick Zack Collins -0.7 bwar 26th pick Zack Burdi -0.6 bwar Los Angeles Dodgers 20th pick Gavin Lux 4.8 bwar 32nd pick Will Smith 8.9 bwar
  19. Riley Greene- 17 games played: fwar .4 bwar .6 Andrew Vaughn- 189 games played: fwar .3 bwar .5
