I'm not writing off Vargas but he does have to make some serious changes to his swing/approach. The PULL THE BALL IN THE AIR swing/approach simply doesn't work. His hands are too close to his body and he has a steep entry w/an extreme uphill path. There's just no room for error with that stupid swing/approach. I hope they go back to basics with him because he does have bat speed and suddenness to go along with a great eye. I'd move his hands away from his body, shorten and flatten his swing and concentrate on barreling the baseball and hitting line drives. If he does that he has a chance to be a good hitter but if he continues with the PULL THE BALL IN THE AIR thing he's done.

This is an important fall for Montgomery. Not for his slash line but for his love of playing baseball. He didn't have a lot of fun playing baseball this year and hopefully he can find that love again at a place where he has had fun and some success before and the slash line will follow. I think they really want him to be the Opening Day SS and showing he's ready by having fun in the AZL will help to make that happen.

Last time Jeremy Haber was part of the interview team. This time Jim Thome is part of the team. That's about as big of an upgrade as they could get. -
How can they even catch Minn in 3-5 years?

MOntgomery was dealing with an off the field issue for most of the season. He's gonna be fine. -
There was no reason to give him an off season program at that time because it would be taught to him at Instructs which are going on right now.

I saw him in HS and thought he was a hitter. It's crazy to see how good of a pitcher he's become. I would be surprised if Crochet is traded to the Braves. I think/hope other teams will offer a better package than what the Braves could offer. -

No one is sayng he hasn't been a massive disapointment but a player is more than his war or xrc. They like his work ethic and leadership and after what they have gone thru the last few years and where they currently are as an organization that's more important to them than a couple wins. If he has another disappointing season they can move on from him after the '25 season. btw-I'll take the under on that arb number. -

Sizemore is going to interview just like everyone else. If he comes out of it as the best candidate, great. Like I said I just hope they hire a strong staff to help him thru some of his decision making struggles. -
I was wondering when this was going to come out though I sure as hell didn't think it would be Reinsdorf who would announce it. I hope the story of how Hahn hired that goof comes out. Man it's a doozy.

Bob thinks Carlos Beltran is a good fit for the Sox. I think there a better fit out there, Bob and I hope they find him. -
Maybe but I think Sizemore has earned strong consideration. He's made some dumb decisions which should be expected from a first time manager but the players play hard for him because they respect him and that seems to be more than half the battle these days. If he is the guy they need to hire a strong bench coach to help him with in game decision making.
