  1. His one redeeming quality is the players like him. I'm not even sure if that is a good thing or not.
  2. McCann won't be making outlandish demands IMO. A 3 year contract at 6 million per would have him doing handsprings.
  3. I understand this is the thinking but the FO can see the needs just as clearly as we can I would hope. I refuse to believe that anyone thinks a couple of Nova's fills the need in the rotation.
  4. Is he less likely to reinjure himself in Charlotte than Chicago? I don't get it.
  5. Nothing is more nonsensical than Jay batting cleanup. Ricky and his lineups are hard to justify sometimes.
  6. We can have Cole for a third of what Machado got and have Madrigal for the next 10 years.
  7. That is more than true. If he is one of the two or tree starters we pick up I will be satisfied if it means the other is premium grade like Cole. I would still like a RF and several good relievers. Grandal would also be a good get. BTW I think Nova will cost about 9 million for 1 year not the 7 some are suggesting.
  8. I agree with you but he is as good as any #5 or #6 starter available. I am actually surprised this thread has more or less showed an openness to consider him. If we have Giolito, Lopez, Kopech, Cease, Rodon, Cole, Nova & Dunning we can make it work. We will also have an improved offense and defense with Robert & Madrigal. Frankly...I would like our chances.

No denying that throw was impressive.
  10. By the time that homer was hit my energy had left the building as well.
  11. It might be the new rage but you won't be winning any WS rings. Power with speed, pitching and defense wins the big prize.
  12. Leury is a good fall back if we can't find that right fielder, but I too would prefer him as super-sub. Between injuries and normal days off I think he is liable to get 4 or 5 games per week. Someone always is in need of a few days off. His switch hit tool always helps when balancing the lineup.
  13. McCann has spoiled us for all others.

Just a little more fine tuning...expect him to be up shortly. I think that should be about right.
  15. If Collins develops into the player we hope...it will be a huge help in becoming a powerhouse.
  16. Well...isn't that special.
  17. Yeah...overreaction seems to be the order of the day around here.
  18. It's a year later.
  19. That's the other way.
  20. Action in practically every inning. Any kid going to this game as his first is probably hooked for life. That's how Sox fans get made.
  21. Fielders running into each other. Will it ever stop?
  22. I was one who couldn't stand his slow afraid to throw the ball pitching. He has turned it around with a faster pace (I didn't say fast) and his in-charge manner. I actually like when he's pitching now. Gives us a chance to win. It's good to be wrong when it means a player is better than you thought.
  23. And his fielding has improved as well.
