TOR starters cost a fortune in free agency. Positional stars cost a fortune in free agency. I was agreeing with the idea that the Sox tried to get TOR starters and positional stars with the trades that jumpstarted the rebuild. Free agency will in my opinion be used for positional strengthening like RF and two rotation starters rather than paying for TOR people like Cole.

This is a valid presumption.

Strasburg and Wheeler would more than satisfy me. Gio, Strasburg, Lopez, Cease, Kopech, Wheeler with Rodon & Dunning waiting in the wings...works for me. Might even keep Nova around if he continues to shine. Would always have a competent starter even with the inevitable lost days every staff has.

70 games would be fine by me. Spend the rest of the time at DH. Hugh upgrade to one of our two offensive weaknesses.

We are winning with half a lineup and pitching has been excellent. Get the missing pieces we've discussed this off season and next year we are playing for something beyond draft picks.

Sox will make an offer to retain him in the 4 million area. First he needs to be released. Like some people in regular jobs...he's competent but has gotten expensive for his value to the team.

Leury.

Grandal and McCann sharing catching & DH with Collins in the mix makes sense. Needs to be explored.

Putting Moncada in cleanup has changed the look of the lineup for the better. Robert and Madrigal added to the lineup make it look absolutely sleek.

I love McCann but the three catchers idea has merit. Depends on how the FO wants to deal with the DH situation. McCann would be primary catcher and both Grandal and Collins would rotate with McCann between catcher & DH.

Yeah...I know the feeling. I'm smart enough to know when watching game 160 of bad baseball...in just a few days it will be gone for months and months. It's a long winter between games.

Winning is more fun than losing for me. Getting a nice preview of what next year will look like.

Coincidences happen.

He's going to be important next year.

Not as dumb when you already have a 4 run lead.

Wonder if Detwiler and Nova have been coached a little by McCann.

Detwiler with a quality start. Very nice job.

Time to keep a sharp eye on the mound. Short leash time.

Moncada with another laser shot.

Sox should consider Detwiler as an opener for some of our returning wounded next year.

I don't favor his lineups or his love of the bunt...that doesn't make me question his intelligence. He's smart enough to get a job that only 30 people have.?

The oft repeated theme that Jose is a butcher in the field is overused IMO. Most players have a strongest and weakest tool. The GG fielder who can't hit...the speed merchant who can't steal 1st base... the good hitter who clogs the bases. I think he does an adequate job and is actually good at digging balls out of the dirt. He certainly wins more games with his bat than he cost us with his glove.

Excellent point.

If Jerry is willing to go top 5-10 we will have enough ammo to get the job done.

Give me a rotation of 5 Gio's and I can make do without a #1.
