If only all our players where struggling like Moncada.?

Anderson and Garcia are good players that have trouble thinking smart baseball. Our constant near collisions on popups and flyballs almost always involve one or both of them. Both of them have me thinking great things about them one day and ready to give up on them the next. They are talented but really need to get their heads in the game.

We are adding the equivalent of 8-12 quality players to the current team. Kopech, Robert, Madrigal, Rodon, Dunning, FA right fielder, 2 free agent rotation pieces and 2-3 FA relievers and a DH solution. Rick is going to be a busy boy.?

I also believe that 2020 is the start of contending. This offseason needs to be productive for RH. I'll keep the faith until proven wrong.

Engel has been a much improved hitter since his recall.

We have a chance in this one. Lineup is about as good as we've got and a better starter than the Braves. Let's win this one.?

When someone humbles themselves by asking a question in this forum...any question...they would like an answer. They don't need to hear that it's a stupid question or that any good fan knows the answer. It's an effort to be superior or in my opinion bully. The poster used the term "any halfway tuned in fan for at least a few years" and that sounds a lot like he thinks very well of himself. Gregg, since you take a fair amount of heat from some of these site bullies...I would think you would recognize their tactics. Many good posters no longer post because 3 or 4 know it all posters take these aggressive postures.

Did you ever notice that people who start a sentence "no offense" intend to be offensive. I have never heard the broadcasters explain where the data comes from and how it is collected and how many people does it take to do that. Saying it comes from MLB doesn't say much.

Every statistic known to man seems to be available in todays baseball. We get spray charts, framing and exit velocity and every statistic you could think to ask about. Who is it that records all this stuff. Do the Sox have 40 people or 4 to track all this? Who does this job and how does the info get compiled. We get mountains of data but never an explanation of where and who is doing this data collection.

My gripe is that we have had an inordinate number of games that fall in the unwatchable category. The FO has a responsibility to keep it "entertaining". You can feel it in the game threads. Even the hard core Sox fan has stopped caring.

Frank must not be watching the games. Sox are desperate for a DH and right fielder. I do agree with him that two rotation pieces and 2-4 pen arms are needed.

Jose hit twice. This would have gotten ugly in the baseball of my youth.

I think Eloy has been better defensively than we were led to believe. His speed is also better than many big power hitting types. I do agree it is good to have flexibility between catchers, outfielders, 1st basemen all being DH from time to time as lineup warrants. It is one reason that Grandal appeals to me.

That would be giving up on Eloy way to soon IMO.

I agree with you. We will have lots of these extensions to deal with in the next five years. Overpaying for outsiders would set a poor example. Best to take good care of our homegrown stars and supplement with good talent. I'm am not saying to avoid Cole type players...just make your offer fair to the market and don't overpay.

Good pitching has a way of making hitters look bad.

They added Shane Greene, Mark Melancon and Chris Martin at the trade deadline. Most professional writers thought that improved them significantly.

The Braves look a lot like we will look in a year or two. Good hitting with speed and power. Great pitching both starters and pen. Really nice defense and hustle constantly. It will be really nice watching this kind of baseball on a nightly bases.

He is a good utility infielder but has gotten expensive. Would Avi have taken a pay cut without first testing the waters? Whatever they decide works OK for me. He no longer serves much purpose since he is not a better defender than those he would replace in late innings, etc.
