Good enough to back up the position next year.

I hope so. Modern day Nellie Fox.

The names are not the issue. He is stating a philosophy of spreading dollars over more than one player to minimize risk.

It is a big deal if Timmy could pull this off. He would join Luke Appling who won the batting title in 1936 & 1943 and Frank Thomas who won in 1997. The rebuild just gets better and better.

I agree 100%

My personnel preference is to use free agency to fill holes with competent players. The economics are terrible in free agency for shopping for stars. I love that the Sox due to the rebuild have built a stable of possible stars in Gio,Kopech, Anderson, Moncada, Robert, Collins, Madrigal, Lopez, Cease and Eloy. They have used free agency to find nice complementary pieces in Colome & McCann. Not at all saying not to sign a Cole...but if the price is out of line... I have no problem with a Wheeler type.

Neither Machado or Harper where good fits for the money. Any competent right fielder would have improved the offensive massively at a fraction of the cost of Harper.

Dodged a bullet.

Two quality starters plus right fielder and DH. Beef up the pen a bit and we compete in 2020. We have more raw talent than any year I can remember. I do believe a change in manager and coaches might be needed to get the most out of the kids. Robert and Madrigal along with competent RF and DH turns the lineup into a powerhouse.

I think Madrigal will be the Nellie Fox of this generation of Sox baseball...and that ain't bad.

Some people would argue with the undertaker.?

The future guys did well. W & L just don't matter.

I don't mind that he was used there. Might as well give him every chance while games don't matter. Get him out of everyone's system.

Overwork is starting to show.

He has been on fire.

Anxious to see which way RH goes with this opening.

The Ernie Banks of our time.

Good choice in picking your parents.

I'm hoping we get Grandal and go with DH / Catcher / Backup with McCann, Grandal and Collins.

I was interested to see his take on lineup construction. I like it.

Pretty sure bet that they will be a big improvement over Garcia and Sanchez immediately and grow from there.

By premium I mean competent + type guy. My leading candidates would be Ozuna, Dickerson or Castellanos. Arguments could be made for Puig, Avi, Pence, Pederson & Heyward depending on cost and preference for defense or offense. No perfect candidate... but all of these would be substantial upgrades IMO.

Screw being motivated for Cole...go get him Rick.

The potential of our staff (Gio, Cease, Kopech, Lopez, Dunning, Rodon and 2 FA arms... sky's the limit.

No but I wish I was. We would be spending some serious money on 2 starters - a premium type right fielder and DH.
