  1. With 25 guys in slumps...I wouldn't think there was any time to listen to music.
  2. And around November 1st we will start craving a baseball fix. Countless arguments about free agents and trades. Spring training will roll around in February and we will be ready to start the whole process again.
  3. I commented before the game my guess was the game would become unwatchable in the fourth inning. They got into the fifth so overperformed a bit.
  4. Encouraging to see Cordell get a little streak going (hit in each of the last five games). Hitting up to .242. With his tools he might still develop into a good player.
  5. Eloy would have just as many if he could stay healthy. I have no doubt Eloy will hit just as many as Solar with time.
  6. Those people who think Eloy can't play the outfield should watch Solar play right field. Yuck.
  7. When I hear Moncada, McCann and Anderson give credit to Severson I will believe it. You are the first person I have heard give credit to Severson for McCann's improvement at the plate. I hope you are correct but I have my doubts. For the most part I think hitting coaches can help the Sanchez, Engel, Tilson & Cordell types. The stars hit wherever they go. They're naturals.
  8. Rumor has it that tomorrow we will be breaking out the good lineup with McCann in it.?
  9. Eloy's stints on the DL will stunt his stats enough to harm his chances for ROTY. Sorry to see that.
  10. I expect exactly that.
  11. Cooper has been a WS coach since 2002. McEwing 2012, Boston 2013, Steverson joined in 2014 so is less culpable. I was a fan of Jerry being loyal to his employees for a very long time. I've come to believe baseball is a different kind of business than most. The players make many millions of dollars. The FO people get a hefty payday and the manager and his coaches are well provided for as well. They all should be held accountable for the play on the field. These last five games should be an embarrassment to Jerry. UNWATCHABLE.
  12. He may not need the money but he would like to play in the majors now I presume. Reasonable people can reach a reasonable accommodation. Both sides want him in Chicago. Get it worked out.
  13. Nimmo has been out since May with a serious neck injury. Surly there is an able bodied outfielder in some organization that doesn't require Jerry to suffer cardiac arrest from the players wanton greed.
  14. Bummer should be going nowhere short of an overpay. Colome requires a ML ready prospect of quality but possibly blocked in his current organization. Abreu needs to be extended at a fair deal (approx. 12 million per year for 2 or 3 yrs) or traded to the highest bidder. The rest of the names can be dealt for whatever todays market is for backup types. Oh yeah...stop the silly talk of trading McCann. We need to build around the quality players we have...not trade them.
  15. My guess... this game becomes unwatchable in the bottom of the fourth. Might be sooner but I'm trying to stay optimistic.
  16. This lineup could make a grown man cry.
  17. They have what each other need...that makes them a marriage made in heaven.
  18. Lets face it...you could trade Castillo, Jay and Rondon to the Toronto Blue Jays for a Blue Jays poster and our fans would be happy.
  19. I doubt they are going to do that. Rumor has it they heard about the pitchforks.
  20. Seeing a new guy is always entertaining for a few games. Nothing else to watch unless you have been anxiously awaiting the return of Castillo.
  21. Whew!
  22. I have made this point several times. He has played a better left field than advertised. He has made the routine play and several that bordered on darn good. Calling for the ball might be another issue.
  23. Boston works with the outfielders. Learning the proper technique to call for the ball is baseball 101. Disgusting!
  24. Richard Justice was quoting Earl Weaver today on MLB. "If you get the guy you want when you are trying to win the World Series...the price you pay doesn't matter." Colome and/or Bummer can get a haul from the Dodgers.
