  1. Very happy to see this. Nothing to lose.
  2. Colome and Abreu are easy decisions. Either you get something good or you keep them.
  3. Every wining team has some Yolmer / Leury types. They help get you through DL stints and the long hot days of summer.
  4. A very flexible group don't you think?
  5. Jon Jay was being paid 8 million by the Cubs in 2017. Played center field adequately for several championship teams. Very much reminds me of a Leury Garcia kind of guy. Not a star but finds ways to be useful. This injury along with Alonso suckage just adds to the off season frustration. Jay taken on his own was a reasonable add that just didn't pan out.
  6. That start by committee the Yankees used was pretty effective. Ricky should give it a try.
  7. That's what you expect to pay for a reliable closer. They don't come for free.
  8. He is exactly what we should be looking for. A player ready for the majors but blocked.
  9. You don't win many games when you can't score a run.
  10. Well...one thing is certain...we need a minimum of six runs...probably more.
  11. I will never understand why Coop doesn't insist Lopez work fast and aggressive. Every time he starts this slow crap he implodes.
  12. Not entertaining so far. Need an exciting finish to the game. Want to send a nice sized crowd home happy.
  13. That is a heck of a stat isn't it. Need some swing and miss in your arsenal.
  14. When Lopez pitches slow and tentative the roof falls in.
  15. Nice to play in front of a good crowd.
  16. Any lineup without Alonso works for me. I do think the 5 spot is good for Eloy at this point.
  17. Both interesting names. Any idea of what the asking price might be?
  18. I like that trade even now that Avi is gone. We won it.
  19. Getting some of that pitching now will help keep the momentum. No reason not to enjoy some wins while we wait for next year. Wining helps create the atmosphere you need to compete long haul.
  20. Haven't you heard...he's a candidate for Manager Of The Year.
  21. I agree that keeping the good players is the way to go. We all agree the young core players are off the table. Balta's stipulation of getting overpaid is of course reasonable when discussing Abreu and Colome because of limited time left on contracts and careers. I never what to be left empty handed when a good player leaves. If the FO feels Abreu and Colome will have the same value next year at this time then hang on to them. I am personally more comfortable extending these type of players for the term they will be useful pieces. In both Colome's & Abreu's case probably a two year extension is probably adequate. If player and team can not agree on terms for the extension I definitely trade them. No way do you want to come away empty handed. When a decision to trade a player is made...better a year to early than a year to late.
  22. Keep playing like last night and the crowds will continue to grow. Crowds love lots of hits and the long ball.
  23. And pitch with pace and aggression.
