TV guys are explaining that Mancada was probably on his own bunting for a hit.

Has anyone heard how Sox are handling the lack of a starter his weekend? I would use a starter in the Covey game and hope we could get him into the seventh before turning it over. The other is a bullpen day that we can hope goes like last Monday with minimal damage.

One game every 5 is about the rate of play Castillo should be getting.

Just noticed that in last nights game Madrigal was 0 for 2 with 3 walks and 3 stolen bases. That's what I mean about his ability to make things happen.

I think the # would be closer to 20 - 25. That is still a lot of money for this type of player. It's family security for a guy who hasn't really had a big payday. He would weigh it against getting hurt tomorrow and out of baseball.

I like when Cordell is in the lineup. He's a good all around player.

Every multi year deal given a FA or any multi year extension has risk. Many wanted to gamble with 10 + year deals to high priced free agents. McCann is just one more gamble that I would take. Been since AJ we have had such a competent two way catcher.

Find 2 starters and bring up Collins and hide Alonso & Castillo somewhere under the bench. Happy times are here again.

I'm very high on Madrigal. Baseball people were all saying he was closest player to the majors in the draft. A few months getting his feet wet mean nothing. His knowledge of the strike zone and GG type defensive + elite speed works for me. It's nice having guys on base to disrupt. It seems speed guys give us fits.

I don't believe he would consider that a low ball. He signed his current deal at 2.5 mil. He realizes there is risk in not taking guaranteed money just like Sale & Timmy did.

We are playing Minnesota. Maybe they won't notice.

On the other hand we found Tilson by not being tied to Avi so that was the silver lining.

I reopened this post because often one of us is the lone voice in the night on some subject. Jack was talked down to by the usual naysayers In his support of Giolito. Sometimes it's easier to say nothing. Just wanted to give him his due.

Sometime in the next year we are going to splurge on a front line starter. Might be Kuechel or someone else but it will happen in my opinion. The championship teams will have Giolito, Lopez, Cease, Kopech and maybe's in Rodon, Dunning, Lambert and Frare. You always need 6-8 starters with the aches and pains of the season, etc. We all can see we are just a little short in that area.

Agree with all your thoughts except Nova. He does have a role as placeholder. Teams really need more than 5 starters in today's baseball.

I see you are still not valuing Grand Slam Tilson as a power threat. Just kidding. Actually I agree because would rather find out if Palka has anything vs a guy who will definitely not be part of anything. Palka is a potential piece of the rebuild until he isn't. Not that I have high hopes.

Why would it be crazy? The name of the game is pitching and we will almost surely have to go out of organization for some of the final pieces. Lester wasn't home grown for the Cubs.
