  1. 4 th & 5 th in the lineup. Stubborn!
  2. We have a much better chance when we lead off with the 8 & 9 hitters then turn over the lineup. Our 4 & 5 are a dark hole.
  3. I'm just being a wise guy. Actually, I am a very optimistic fan but these lineups are driving me nuts. You could pick nine names out of a hat and make more sense of it.
  4. Alonso batting .176 followed by Castillo hitting .169 in the 4 and 5 slot in the batting order. It's hard to believe we're trying to win. I'm pretty sure 99.9% of fans could find a lineup with a better chance of being productive.
  5. Along with Cease, Robert and Madrigal.
  6. I could make do without ever seeing Castillo in the lineup.
  7. It's very nice of you to be so accommodating.
  8. They hope he shows something enough to unload at the trade deadline. I think if that doesn't happen they will DFA at that time. I wish they would give him a few days out of the lineup to clear his head. I just don't like these extreme shift guys.
  9. Every GM in baseball has traded for Jackson it seems.
  10. Every player has inflated value when it's going good and should be DFA when he's going bad. Most are somewhere in the middle. Fans are not easy to please.
  11. This forum is about discussion not arguments. State your point of view and let others discuss it or offer other ways to look at it. When people are just trying to make others look dumb...they're not changing anyone's mind. We all love the Sox just not what we might see out of them from day to day. Even when I agree with you it doesn't make either one of us right.
  12. I would love to see it. These three guys would energize the fan base and I'll bet we would win a few more games as well. They couldn't possibly mess things up and we might move the time line up by half a year. And I assume the best coaches in the organization are at the major league level. I've suggested this move in several threads and added that putting an extra coach or two to tutor the young guys specifically.
  13. Injuries that haven't happened yet can overnight change the buyers interested. When we get to the dead line there is no reason to deal unless the offer is so good it can't be turned down. I would happily extend him or trade for the right deal. People do overpay when they perceive it's a player to put them over the top. ForAlonso I would be happy with salary relief. I want to be over paid for Abreu. If I like my car but someone offers fair market value I say no thanks. Same situation occurred with Q. We got overpaid because Cubs overpaid because they thought Q was the man.
  14. Doesn't look as good after a 5-0 two hit shut out loss.
  15. I do know that the lineup looks much less impressive when McCann is not batting cleanup. When he's not catching he should DH regardless of L/R hand issues. This effort to make Alonso look tradable is costing wins.
  16. Cordell & Tilson have made a nice improvement in the everyday lineup IMO. It's interesting how HR power is so in vogue that we give up having tight defense, good throwing arms, speed on the bases, and batting averages North of .240. I will take this kind of player any day over the Palka's of this game. When you are hiding an elite hitter like Jimenez I can let the shortcomings slide but not worth it for the Palka's of this world. It seems in every game lately one of these guys does something to keep us in the game.
  17. He's batting in the .270's and hitting cleanup for Tampa Bay. Signed for 6 million. Sounds like he would have been a good deal compared to Alonso.
  18. Why would anyone prefer Palka to Cordell. Cordell actually has baseball skills.
  19. Alonso playing every game is a disgrace. No reason he can't sit and watch. See how it's done. I really liked his manner at the plate at first. RR pencils him into the lineup night after night. I just can't understand why RR lets Alonso & Palka play until they are the target of fan scorn. Not smart.
