  1. A four-year contract would be fine but anything beyond that I lose interest in a hurry. He is a nice upgrade for the present but he becomes Miguel Cabrera in 5 years if still on the team.
  2. I wouldn't either...but someone will IMO.
  3. Semien and one of Max/Rodon/Gausman/Ray.
  4. LaRoche and Dunn left many Sox fans with a bad taste for NL players IMO.
  5. I still vote for #3. Three years for 12-15 million.
  6. You are correct...pitching is much more important.
  7. Do we have a 2nd baseman? Do we have satisfactory pitching both starting and relief? Do we have a solid defensive catcher? If the answer to my questions is yes...sure let's get a high-grade right fielder. My first priorities are 2nd base and pitching (both starter and relief). The resources are not limitless IMO. If we cash Vaughn or Eloy in for trade value we would be selling low in all probabilities. I am just trying to field the best team with the situation we have.
  8. Thanks for the clarification.
  9. If you have approximately 75 million available to have top-line signings for RF, 2nd base, and SP...go sign Conforto or whoever you think is this dream player for RF. Those of us who what the Vaughn/Sheets/Engel right field combo in order to use the available money elsewhere are living in the real world IMO.
  10. And Engel after we have built a double-digit lead.
  11. Vaughn/Sheets/Engel in RF and Vaughn/Sheets/Grandal/Eloy/Abreu as DH by committee. Use available resources on 2nd base and pitching.
  12. Have a great holiday and remember to not overeat. We need to stay lean and mean for all our work over the next few days.
  13. I agree with you on Sheets.
  14. I would give this a very good shot.
  15. Sounds like Vaughn/Sheets/Engel will be adequate after all. Good...now save the money to use at our other areas of need. That top-tier 2 nd baseman and the quality starter won't come cheap.
  16. I agree. I've been saying 3 years in the 12-15 range. Lack of accepting the qualifying offer doesn't mean a lack of interest IMO.
  17. I hope and assume Tepera is still on the shopping list.
  18. Fangraphs has him at 4/120...you are probably within the correct range IMO.
  19. Going to be a busy start to the week for RH.
  20. What is their organization ranking? I thought Cepeda was something like #2 with Sanchez top 10 and rising. Looked it up and Cepeda is #2 and Sanchez is #15. IMO that is still a stiff price for 1 year for even a good player.
  21. Nimmo is really nice but one year for 2 high-quality future players is a heavy payout.
  22. Gee this is groundbreaking news. I'm sure most of us thought we picked up a 16 million option to unload for table scraps.
