  1. Maybe we could start a petition demanding your immediate hire.
  2. I can't find a source saying 6-7 million. Little early to panic over our wild spending ways.
  3. Totally expected this news and am fine with it. I hope the money is like 3 years at 3 or 4 million per year but whatever. Every team needs a versatile player like Leury and if used properly I see him as useful.
  4. Five is excessive. They won't be happy until the true baseball fan says I've had enough. I remember when the best team in each league played for the World Championship. Making money is now the goal. Winning is just getting lucky for a few weeks.
  5. Taylor, Tepera, and Wood will satisfy me. Need a quality player for 2nd and load up with pitching. I still think Rodon is a possibility as well. I want the Vaughn, Sheets, and Engel for RF so fine with missing out on some of the mentioned names.
  6. I don't think can be argued with IMO.
  7. It was the writer's opinion but not necessarily a fact. For example...we already know a great deal about Rodon's health.
  8. These contracts are bad for baseball IMO. Is baseball a contest of who has the most money? I would love to have the game played on a level field where every team has the same payroll to spend...no exceptions. If every team had $200 million to spend and revenue sharing it would be a fair fight. I know some will say life's not fair...but this has gotten out of hand. It isn't good for the game when only three or four teams can afford to play.
  9. Gee...doesn't everyone want to live in New York?
  10. You and me both. We need to see if Madrigal is available...maybe straight up for Kimbrel.
  11. That's probably correct...and if so I would pass.
  12. A four-year contract would be fine but anything beyond that I lose interest in a hurry. He is a nice upgrade for the present but he becomes Miguel Cabrera in 5 years if still on the team.
  13. I wouldn't either...but someone will IMO.
  14. Semien and one of Max/Rodon/Gausman/Ray.
  15. LaRoche and Dunn left many Sox fans with a bad taste for NL players IMO.
  16. I still vote for #3. Three years for 12-15 million.
  17. You are correct...pitching is much more important.
  18. Do we have a 2nd baseman? Do we have satisfactory pitching both starting and relief? Do we have a solid defensive catcher? If the answer to my questions is yes...sure let's get a high-grade right fielder. My first priorities are 2nd base and pitching (both starter and relief). The resources are not limitless IMO. If we cash Vaughn or Eloy in for trade value we would be selling low in all probabilities. I am just trying to field the best team with the situation we have.
  19. Thanks for the clarification.
  20. If you have approximately 75 million available to have top-line signings for RF, 2nd base, and SP...go sign Conforto or whoever you think is this dream player for RF. Those of us who what the Vaughn/Sheets/Engel right field combo in order to use the available money elsewhere are living in the real world IMO.
  21. And Engel after we have built a double-digit lead.
  22. Vaughn/Sheets/Engel in RF and Vaughn/Sheets/Grandal/Eloy/Abreu as DH by committee. Use available resources on 2nd base and pitching.
