  1. Have a great holiday and remember to not overeat. We need to stay lean and mean for all our work over the next few days.
  2. I agree with you on Sheets.
  3. I would give this a very good shot.
  4. Sounds like Vaughn/Sheets/Engel will be adequate after all. Good...now save the money to use at our other areas of need. That top-tier 2 nd baseman and the quality starter won't come cheap.
  5. I agree. I've been saying 3 years in the 12-15 range. Lack of accepting the qualifying offer doesn't mean a lack of interest IMO.
  6. I hope and assume Tepera is still on the shopping list.
  7. Fangraphs has him at 4/120...you are probably within the correct range IMO.
  8. Going to be a busy start to the week for RH.
  9. What is their organization ranking? I thought Cepeda was something like #2 with Sanchez top 10 and rising. Looked it up and Cepeda is #2 and Sanchez is #15. IMO that is still a stiff price for 1 year for even a good player.
  10. Nimmo is really nice but one year for 2 high-quality future players is a heavy payout.
  11. Gee this is groundbreaking news. I'm sure most of us thought we picked up a 16 million option to unload for table scraps.
  12. I admire that some of you can remember what some other poster was saying in years gone by. It's hard for me to remember what I was thinking a year ago. Other than about Madrigal of course.
  13. That's the way RH operates and I like it.
  14. Right field, 2nd base, and pitching are all on the to-do list. First to come...first served.
  15. I think Boras is probably the right choice for the very top-of-class FA's. IMO the typical player is better served by finding a good fit with multiple years if available ASAP. Carlos Rodon is exactly the type of player I have in mind. He should be careful not to overplay his hand. Three years at 12-14 with some incentives might prove to be a great offer. Time will tell.
  16. I know where you are coming from but if Eloy is the DH that leaves Grandal sitting on the bench 30-40% of the time. It' of course doable but yet not ideal IMO. I have favored playing Vaugh/Sheets/Engel in RF with the heavy money outlay going to 2nd, backup catcher, and pitching. DH is handled with Grandal when not catching and the right fielders not playing the field that day. Of course, another option is to acquire a 20 million dollar player for both RF and 2nd base. Then trade either Eloy or Vaughn for pitching if the right deal is available. RH can go lots of different ways if the right deals are available.
  17. Same principles...just different numbers.
  18. That of course doesn't stop you from offering to split the difference at $250,000. Everyone wants to get the highest possible paycheck but a bird in the hand has some value as well. Watch what happens on December 1st as the bird in the hand players show up.
  19. Or not working at all. Boris has left more than one client with few options when initial interesting offers moved on. People don't like to be played IMO.
  20. If you have a house that you hope to sell for 250,000 you might want to list it at 275,000 so you have some room to dicker. To list it at 500,000...people don't bother to even look. These wild-ass asking prices do the client a disservice by limiting half the potential buyers IMO.
  21. Yes! Our needs (RF, 2nd, SP) will most likely fall in that pay range and players have the motivation to get er done IMO.
  22. Yes, I would trade either guy for an unrealistic haul. Would they take Vaugh for Marte? I think not. I stated that anyone can be traded but I wouldn't trade either guy for what I anticipate their current value would be. I'd trade both guys for Ohtani just to clarify my position.
  23. The point is that a 31-year-old Marcus Sieman is not getting a 7-year deal.
