July 1st is a significant date in White Sox history. The real Comiskey Park opened on July 1, 1910. And on the last July 1st of that ballpark's life, Andy Hawkins lost a complete game no-hitter against the Sox, when the sun and the wind caused Jim Leyritz in left to drop a seventh inning Robin Ventura liner, allowing 3 runs, Sosa, Ozzie and Lance Johnson, to score. Later the right fielder, Jesse Barfield, was also charged with a run scoring error on a similar, but easier, play. Sox went out 123 in the eighth, to finish with 4 runs on no hits. It was one of the most exciting moments in Sox history.

I heard some ESPN guy, could've been Dave Campbell, speculate that Shingo might make the All Star team because of the pr value to MLB. So he may have that going for him. I don't think he has the gaudy numbers (except for those era and opposing batting average things. You know, those little things.) to get on the All Star team. Is Koch going for the NL?

It seemed like we had a lot of offdays in the first half of the year, so I looked at our schedule for the second half. Before rescheduling the Phillies makeup game, we were going to play 44 games in 46 days between the first game after the break and August 30. Now with losing the offday on 8/30 we play 58 games in 60 days!! During that period is when the 5th starter will have to step up. Not to mention the first 4 starters and the pen.

Have you noticed that Shingo's first pitch to every batter is the 87 (or so) mph fastball. The frisbee isn't unleashed until he's ahead in the count. I don't think anybody is going to "catch on" to Shingo's stuff. Even the fastball has a lot of movement. Compare and contrast to Billy Koch's 94 mph straight line fastball. Now HIM, they caught up to.

I'd use Diaz. I thought Rauch got away with a boatload of high pitches vs. the Indians. It seemed like he had 9 or 10 popups. Pitch high at Wrigley against Alou and their rightfielder, and you gonna get lit up.

I was a season ticket holder for many years, and the last 3 years I would not attend the Cubs Sox games. Because I get pissed off when I hear Cub fans, anytime, but especially in my ballpark. But I would never let my tickets fall into the hands of a Cub fan.

Lawrence Holmes of the Score said on the air about half an hour ago that he had just spoken to Kenny Williams. He said KW said that he has had a lot of talks with Atlanta, but had not discussed trading Ordonez in those talks. FWIW.
