Ok, this place was fun for a couple of days leading up to the deadline (and with the couple weeks worth of decent ball-playing), but now the negative nellys are back to tell us all repeatedly how awful this team will be for the next few months, so I’ll dip back out. I’ll watch the games and enjoy as long as the passable play continues. My expectations are low, so I’ll be glad for any wins and even hard-fought losses. It’s still light years better than last season.

I’m rolling with Luis. Send him to whoever got Colson back on track. -

If opposing GMs are really giving us shitty offers, keep our guys. We got enough junk in this org. -

Obviously you don’t want to lose your DH, but (especially with the roster we have now), you ought to be able to play old-school NL ball and do double switches to avoid the pitcher batting. -

Tim Anderson agrees to minors deal with LAA

Woof. I wish him well, but man, what missed potential. -
For cash considerations?

I could be way off base but unless these A-ball guys are super highly regarded, we traded a lot for little of use as far as I can tell.

This seems like…whatever the opposite of wishful thinking is. Yes, my post was an attempt to spread some positivity. But your supposition that virtually no one is getting traded is far less grounded in reality than mine. I suppose the next 30 hours or so will tell the tale.

Today is the day we start seeing some of our Sox get laundered, as it were. Boob says “The White Sox could unload as many as seven players before the deadline: Garrett Crochet Erick Fedde Luis Robert Jr. Michael Kopech Chris Flexen Tommy Pham Paul DeJong” I think we see motion on some of the non-Crochet and Robert bunch today so tomorrow can be spent bidding up those last two. And though not mentioned in the article, I’ve seen talk that StL might take a flyer on Brebbia, so maybe eight guys could go. Watch flights from CLT to MCI, I guess. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2024/07/28/mlb-trade-deadline-rumors-2024/74576044007/

Tim Anderson signs with MIA, 1Y/5M

I get what people are saying in terms of maybe getting something of value at the deadline if Tim can rebound, but I think Getz really wanted to clean house of the bad attitudes. I think our trade deadline guys are Cease, Eloy, and Moncada. If they can have a good first half, ship ‘em and kick this latest rebuild into high gear. -

This needs to get done. And then book the 100th anniversary All-Star Game there, as god intends. -

1/9/24 Update: Wander Franco to face lesser charges
XplodingScorbord replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Updated headline made me laugh. Is he a landlord in this scenario? That’s a “lessor.” “Lesser” means reduced. That’s the word you’re looking for. Now, I’ve paid no attention whatsoever to this story. If there is a rental property component to this, lessor it is. -
After an exhaustive search, Getz named GM/VP

Hawk Harrelson has time on his hands. And GM experience!
