If it is happening it isn't at McCormick Place. Nothing on their schedule.

Is it just the media's opinion that the Sox won't consider anyone from their minor league system, or has Hahn directly or indirectly stated this? Anyone know why Jirschele isn't mentioned by anyone. I haven't followed him, so I don't know how he is doing, but he's been there for awhile and I recall his name being mentioned prior to LaRussa popping up. Also I'm sure he is not a candidate, but worth noting that Jim Leyland's son Patrick has been with the team as a low level manager and bench coach for a couple of years now.

In this particular case the roster construction has more to do with it than Jose's age. Somebody out of Vaughn, Eloy, Sheets, and Abreu needs to go before we can get legitimate corner outfielders, and Abreu happens to be the oldest and most expensive. If it weren't for that I think most fans would be OK with Abreu growing old with us.

Scott wouldn't have made that much of a difference, but worth noting the Sox were only three games back at the trade deadline. They finished the season with the third best record in MLB, which they also had at the trade deadline, but had the misfortune of being in the West with Oakland prior to the wild card era. That team was a legit contender.

Admitting a Wrong: Kenny Williams vs Rick Hahn

Verlander, JD Martinez, Justin Upton, Ian Kinsler all in their prime were as good trade chips and the Sox had. -
Admitting a Wrong: Kenny Williams vs Rick Hahn

The Tigers say "hold my beer". Their rebuild started around the same time as the Sox, depending on when you define the Sox start date. 92 losses so far this year. -
Take a close look at the Detroit situation. Their fans are probably envying us.

I don't understand why everyone thought he was a disciplinarian. Always had the rep of letting clubhouses run themselves as much as possible. Think it turned out this one can't.

67/68 is hardly unusual in this game, and he hasn't been that removed. Bochy with Jirschele as bench coach, with the goal of Jirschele moving up to manager in two years or so if Bochy so recommends. The duties can be split with a slow transition over the two years if they desire.

Heart conditions don't tend to magically get better at his age. At best they can be managed. This season proved he can't make it through the grind of 162. I don't think he really has an option other than retirement. He will probably just hang in AZ for the rest of his years.

Rosenthal has reported in the past it is rumored that Hinch's contract has an opt out clause if the team doesn't live up to its promises/expectations. Not sure what the definition of this is, but I assume the Tigers have more than justified it.

Depends on who they want to talk to. If they just give the job to TLR or Cairo, no reason not to announce it right away. But if they are planning on interviewing external candidates they really can't do much until the playoffs are over. And if Hahn is going everything get pushed back farther.

This is actually a genius marketing move by the Sox. The "Swedish Satanic dressing as a Papal anti-Christ" market is completely untapped by MLB. Can't wait for Juggalo night next week once they dump the Coca Cola contract for Faygo. Seriously, even Veeck would have taken a hard pass on this.
-
They still had three head to head games with the Phillies, which they swept. That ship has sailed here.

God only helps those who hustle. This team may be too lazy for Satan as well.
-
Seriously, WTF is wrong with this team? I'd love to see a Venn diagram of this guy's fans and White Sox fans. Literally no one in the intersection. His wikipedia says he is a satanist. This is starting to be like the movie Major League.

McDowell was terrible in high pressure and high profile situations. Take a look at his postseason stats with the Sox, Cleveland and NYY. Even things like the first Opening Day at the new park he melted down. Three years of greatness followed by many of mediocrity.

9/13 vs. Rockies 710CT - Kopech v. Kuhl: A New Streak Starts

I think this year has shot down the concept that we need to keep Abreu for his team leadership skills, particularly with the Cuban players. If he was a leader before, he clearly wasn't effective this year. Still a damn good hitter though. -

It makes sense to wait as long as possible to announce, the Guardians game starts one hour before the Sox game on Wednesday. -
I think that as long as you, as a fan, have a basic understanding that the players, owners, front office etc don't really give a s%*# about you and all they are really, in the end, interested in is making money you can make the decision as to whether the entertainment is enjoyable enough to continue. I think the recent Nightengale article that suggested Cairo needed to tell the players to try harder is very telling. Players didn't care they were letting the fans down on a daily basis. They got their paychecks.

1. Williams was one of the greatest hitters to play the game. Rules should not be established based on the skills of the top .001% of players. 2. Williams wasn't facing pitchers that threw breaking pitches 99 mph or pitchers who have data on every pitch a batter has faced with the ability to tailor pitch selection to that data. If reincarnated, which I recall was a goal of his, no chance he would hit anywhere near .406 against shifts in 2022.

We will probably get a good clue from that. If he doesn't show for that its probably something serious

We may never hear it is certainly up to him to decide to make that information public or not.
