QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 11:01 PM) What a fun night capped off by heads hitting a half court buzzer beater for a w. Both college and NBA had some good finishes last night. -
The Knicks could probably trade Fields, Shumpert (Not sure if there is a rule in CBA about trading rookies), and a pick for Nash. Or some variation of the 3.

Wizards beat the Thunder. #areyouseriousbro

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 07:58 PM) Illinois doesn't play Indiana for like a month so I doubt it. They are bad defensively and until that changes they aren't going to let teams hang around. My bad. Thought they played Sat for some reason. -

How many will the ACC get in? 2? I'm not following them as much this season. Big East will get less than last year in, obviously. May open up more for Big ten to get in depending on mid major conference tourneys. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 12:08 PM) I'm shocked with the small yet vocal group of Soxtalkers who rave about Justified that you didn't jump on sooner. Welcome aboard, sir. I've always had too many shows already on the DVR but Tuesdays are bare now so I figured I would give it a shot. Don't remember what I was watching on Tuesdays last year that prevented me from jumping on than. Or was it on a different night? QUOTE (Cali @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) Could never get into Justified based solely on my very strong dislike of Timothy Olyphant.... Cali, he didn't REALLY kill all those people in Scream 2.

Last nights JUSTIFIED was my first episode and enough to keep me watching and somehow find and view the first 2 seasons.

Hope Alcatraz can keep the stories interesting. I'm assuming the season is only like 13 episodes or so, so I have no problem dragging out the mystery of the appearance/disappearance.

QUOTE (mumbles3k @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 08:27 PM) THE ARTIST is a decent enough movie. It really owes a lot to SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, and isn't nearly as good as that movie. But the gimmick works relatively well, and the dog's cute. It's either The Artist or The Descendants and I think The Artist will be a better experience on the big screen for me.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 08:37 PM) The Bulls have no one who can contend with Nash, he has 24 and 8. Other than that, Phoenix is one of the worst teams out there. They have to trade Nash this year to a contender. Give him a shot at a ring. Maybe Lakers?

Off tomorrow so may go out of my way to see The Artist.

Get dominated by Iowa than beat Michigan State. Figures. Hope Trey Burke stays for a few years. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 07:46 PM) Taj got boned on that goaltend. That ref was way out of position to make that call. Ref under hoops call.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 07:30 PM) 39 point first quarter. Too bad they gave up 31. Suns are one of the worst offensive teams in the league. Not good.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 05:04 PM) So you don't like advanced stats in basketball because you don't understand them? Ever think about educating yourself on them? They're very interesting (albeit not perfected). A 7.8 TRB% just means that Rubio grabs 1 out of every 13 or so rebounds. That doesn't seem like a particularly large number at all for most players (i.e. forwards), but for a point guard it's pretty good. Also, Rubio isn't expected to be a scorer because that's not his style of play. He's a pass first player and always will be. However, he will control the game (and has already shown that this season). Don't turn into a prick towards me and question my education. I like Rubio's game and I know what total rebound percentage is. It's simple math. How many of his rebounds are long rebounds? Or are they mostly in the paint where not a lot of guards go on the defensive end? Gray area. If sabermetrics in basketball meant much, you would see them used in the media and box scores more. I'm sure Maya Moore just kills all sabermetric categories and that is why you want to hang onto it.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 12:33 PM) Have you ever watched Rubio play (or looked at his rebounding numbers)? He rebounds very well for a point guard and has a 7.8 TRB% this year (one of the top marks for point guards). This is why I am not a fan of sabermetrics in basketball. Rubio averaged 4 rebounds a game but the above stat makes it seem like he gets more. Rubio has surpassed expectations based on his awful last year over seas. Great passer, great court vision. Is he expected to be some big scorer at the position like Rose or Paul? Doubt it.

QUOTE (Greyone @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) But if they were numbered why wouldn't they just release him right now. I guess so they get another 30 days of no compete (don't most guys have a 30 day no compete clause). 3 strikes and you're out is their policy. When he comes back, he will be a jobber.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 03:26 AM) Loved THE DESCENDANTS. Of course, being a bit Payne and Clooney fan helps. My all-time favorite of his is still About Schmidt, with Election a close 2nd. Damnit, now I must watch it or find a cheap Blu Ray. Love Election.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 10:33 PM) Baylor lost to phog allen tonight, still no doubt in my mind that they're better than kansas. I've been a believer in Baylor the past few years but they always seem to fold to tough talent, it seems. Maybe a misperception. -
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) Way too soon for Edge I agree. This actually would have been a good year for Foley, actually. Been out of the main picture for the past few years.

So WWE does a Anti Bullying/Anti Hate campaign...then bring in a blogger to appear on Raw who makes a living blasting people on the internet.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) Maybe it's me, but Shameless has sucked the first two episodes this season. Don't disagree.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 11:32 AM) Rose is a gametime decision. He did shoot around for 10 minutes. If he played today and took tomorrow off vs. Phoenix, it would probably be ok. Nash got hurt towards the end of last nights game and may miss as well. And even with Nash, Suns only average about 93 points a game.
