QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 01:54 PM) Then you must see PDL. Easily his best work. Or you'll find it a strange and incredible bore.

Saw Daybreakers last night. Not bad, not great. I thought it was kind of like From Dusk Til Dawn, except it's not funny. It gives 30 Days of a Night a run for its money.
  3. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) I'm Cosmo Kramer, the "Assman"! "A million to one shot doc, million to one."
  4. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) Reid should at least have to step down from his leadership role. I recall Trent Lott having to do that for merely showing up at Strom Thurmond's party back in 2002? 2003? And if Reid is saying things like that in a leadership position, how many others below him are saying the same thing? And if they are saying that about Obama behind his back, what do they say about gays behind closed doors? The Republicans are the racist party. And the Democrats are the weak on terrorism party.
  5. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) One very most favorite of mine is "The Heart Attack", where George thinks he's having a heart attack. Turns out he needs his tonsils removed. Trying to save money he sees a hollistic healer. The "cure" turns George's skin purple. It's frickin' hilarious. "I'm a mutant!" Seriously I still quote this show daily, and no one knows what I'm talking about. I love the part of the Puerto Rican parade episode where they all try to use the bathroom under their aliases. Pennypacker. Vanderlay. Varnsen. Jerry: If we're all here who's watching the factory? Kramer: What factory? Jerry: The Saab factory... Kramer: Jerry that's in Sweden.
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) It's tough to be a Republican, no doubt about it.You would never hear about a Dem saying something like that. The Republicans would never have lost an election in history if they were treated fairly.

  8. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 12:19 AM) Wow, congratulations to Floyd! This is awesome. I'm happy he's getting married, because I actually thought he was gay. Offensive.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 12:13 AM) Were you watching wide screen or full screen format? Sometimes in wide screen, you get that "shift" effect. I can't remember what the Perfect Getaway had. But I remember that the Die Hard still had the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. I thought it was weird that a widescreen tv still needed the bars. And someone I was watching with thought that was what might be creating the trippy effect as well.
  10. Haven't gotten the tv yet, but something has me worried by watching large LCD tvs at the homes of friends and family. It's hard to describe but the picture on movies is weird. I'm not sure it's a bad thing, maybe my eyes aren't used to it. But the flow seems weird. It's almost like everything was shot on a handheld camera. Or that it's trying to do everything in 3d or something. The strange effect was evident during a television broadcast of the most recent Die Hard movie and a Blu-Ray copy of The Perfect Getaway starring Milla Jovovich. Both were on large LCD televisions around 46 inches. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Are the settings wrong on the tv? Or are my eyes just not used to it? Other people watching the movies noticed the same thing.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 06:46 PM) Did you guys see it in 3D? Yah, I wear glasses so I had to wear the 3d glasses on top of those but it still looked great. And it wasn't too uncomforatlbe. I did notice that the colors looked brighter when I took off the 3d glasses periodically, so that might be one drawback.

I was pretty impressed by Avatar in 3D. It plays better in the theatre than in trailers on tv and the computer. Visuals were great. Story was a little bit hamfisted, but still a great movie experience. 9/10
  15. Only thing I'm worried about with LCD is that I'm hearing the picture gets fugged if you watch on an angle. Does the angle have to be extreme? Who watches tv straight on anyway?
  16. Thanks for the tips guys. Right now I'm looking at 46 inch LCD Sony Bravia KDL46S5100 1080p. Do you really need 1080p for Blu Ray to work? P.S. f u tex. lol
  17. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 09:13 PM) Actually they did. And they withdrew the amendment in mid-read so they could get the appropriation through. The single payer amendment doesn't have close to 50 votes, let alone 60 votes anyway - so the reading of the amendment was pure political theater - and a delaying tactic "by any means necessary." Because it doesn't matter how watered down the bill is, the GOP recognizes that passing the bill turns a burden into a boon for the Democrats next year. Fortunately, for them - and frankly for the country at large, Sanders no longer supports the bill because it forces taxpayers to take a private insurance program that is basically broken. So we're back to 59 votes now. Hopefully enough liberals will fail to support the bill to cloture as it stands so we can get back to a good bill and force it through with reconciliation and get the 57 votes it would receive. With the medicare buy-in, its nearly all applicable to reconciliation now. Am I right in figuring that if the Democrats get this through, their election argument is the "Republicans want to take away reform," "they want to go back," and "if given the opportunity they'll take away medicare and medicaid too."
  18. Hey guys need some tips on tvs. I haven't kept up with the technology. I'm looking to get about a 46 inch widescreen tv. But beyond that I don't really know what I'm doing. Should I be looking at getting an LCD or a Plasma? What's the difference? Are there other kinds? Is everything flatscreen now? I've heard that plasmas burn out quicker and take more power, but also that they've improved a great deal. Which one is more expensive? Which is the best quality for movies and tv? I'm also concerned about watching normal tv on a big widescreen tv. I've been over to peoples houses with huge tvs and the quality of normal shows and sporting events is just crappy. It's bigger but if the quality drops like that, what's the point? Is this unavoidable with a widescreen tv. Or can this be solved with an HD subscription? Also, what would you say is the best quality television available? Sony? Sharp? LG? I'm not afraid to spend a little bit more money for a better quality product. Hey, I watch a lot of tv and movies. Spare no expense! Thanks
  19. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 08:21 PM) I don't disagree with any of you on the last couple of pages in this thread. They're all whoring out to get their pet projects protected. Ben Nelson is being a little b****, too. Unfortunately, this is the way the game is played in Washington, and the bill is going to be the s***tiest legislation in American history. Do you feel morally superior to all Senators?
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) What obvious differences are there in our lives now that there is a Dem controlled Congress and Executive branch? Surely you understand how important it is to have moderate judges on the benches rather than the Republicans' current taste for absolutist retro-activists.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) Nope. Good luck competing in life if you don't have access to kidney dialysis.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 04:13 PM) http://www.financialpost.com/story.html?id...8#ixzz0ZOyEadLM Writes the mother of two... This is a completely ludicrous idea at this time, and I don't know why this little Canadian article is getting so much attention. Nonetheless, I do think it illustrates one point. If environmentalists, and climate change scientists are even close to being right about climate change and other forms of environmental degradation, the amount of government intervention when the time comes will be massive in comparison to the pathetic and anemic plans out there today. Not to mention the potential pains as a result of the forces of nature.

    Zombieland was the bomb.
  24. Thought this was an interesting quote from Gibbs considering the topic here and Rex's comment http://whitehouse.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/1...t-historic-low/ The jumps up and down do seem a little weird. I remember Canada had three day tracking polls during elections and the day to day stuff never had such big jumps.
  25. I disagree that Taiwan and Kosovo are countries! Got 140 though. Terrible at the WWII stuff. Got only 6. Should have gotten Iwo Jima and Midway.
