QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 07:50 AM) The remarkable thing about the whole "Socialism!" thing is how the Obama Health Care plan basically took the Republican opposition outline to the Clinton plan (the individual mandate) and used that as the basis for everything. Meh, I'm not going to get worked up about this on here anymore. Obama as President is to the right of Obama as Presidential candidate, and as it was 53% of the electorate voted for the more liberal Obama anyways. In addition, Washington Post's poll from yesterday indicated that 53% of people think Obama's views on the issues are "just about right," while 39% think he's "too liberal," and 5% think he's "too conservative." QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) He is socialist, on our political spectrum. Facist, communist? No. You're at lease socialist. Who cares? It's the truth. Accept it, and move on. But, I understand. We need to lable the tea party as racist so we can disband of this notion that they might have real issues with the government. There's no such thing as socialism "on our political spectrum." There's a political spectrum and everyone fits on it as such. American conservatives don't define political ideologies.

Here are the comments that apparently irked some. Watch the last 3 minutes of the first link, and the rest at the other link. It's his answer to the last question which is of interest. And I think this is the NY Times article in question. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/15/world/mi...ast.html?src=mv

Obama vs. Netanyahu, maybe... Obama vs. Israel, utter nonsense. Does Obama want to negotiate a peace deal? Yes. Does Netanyahu? Probably not. This doesn't mean Obama's against Israel. And the right wing drivel you link to? Also, garbage. For one thing, which friggin' New York Times article is he talking about? If I'm correct, and the "press conference" the author is discussing is the one at the Nuclear Summit I think Obama's comments are totally mischaracterized. Obama was not saying Americans are dying in Iraq and Afganistan because of what Isreal is doing, but that the screwed up nature of middle east relations makes things extremely dicey for Americans there. DuH! David Petraeus and Condi Rice have said the same thing. Reading conservative Jewish commentators opinions on U.S.-Israeli relations is fine, I just hope you mix in other viewpoints as well.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) Kipwells needs to remove "Moon" from his avatar, because from this point foward I'll immediately dismiss all posts of his unless the change is made. Haha, I thought the movie was pretty cool. But I liked the poster a lot. It's getting old now, I'll have to come up with something new. EDIT: And, OMG I've seen a lot of twisted horror movies, but the Human Centipede looks truly disturbing.

QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:37 PM) Yup, that's the guy. The same .300 hitter that couldn't get off the bench for the LA Dodgers. The current Juan Pierre is a far cry from what he was for the Marlins 5 years ago. Manny Ramirez, Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier. -

QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) What about when your starting lead off hitter is Juan Pierre? You mean the career .300 hitter? -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:23 PM) And why isn't Quentin or Jones hitting for Pierre here? Cause you don't pinch hit your starting lead off hitter in the 7th. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:14 PM) Really...the solution is Dye and Podsednik... My thoughts exactly. Weren't Thome and Dye the leaders of the corpse ball parade last year? That being said I wish we had kept Pods around. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 01:12 PM) Both Ozzie and KW like Ditka, living off 2005. If the ball doesn't go through Tony G's legs and El Duque actually gives up a couple of runs that year, the two baseball geniuses that people actually shed tears thanking, are nothing more than failures. I just want that "how many championships" has whoever won argument gone. That's in the past. It doesn't take much baseball IQ to figure out the line ups last year and this were lacking. Ozzie can pop off about fans all he wants. The proof is in the pudding. He's losing. OMG the whining on these boards is incredible when we're slumping. 2005 was a fluke now? One of the most dominant playoff performances ever. -
Bill O'Reilly is f***ing clownshoes. Can we just leave it at that?

Yawn... From what I watched tonight, Romero was pretty sick.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 04:58 PM) Should I read Game Change? It's a really easy read, but I'll go along with what everyone else said. How did they get inside knowledge of all of these private conversations?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) But...the path to serving on the court shouldn't necessarily be limited to "working your way up as a judge". I meant that all politicians are not equally worthy of serving on the court. Meaning Sarah Palin has no business being mentioned in the same sentence as Amy Klobuchar or Hillary Clinton for example.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) Or a hockey mom from a small town in Alaska. I don't really know much about Booker, but politicians are not equally qualified to serve on the courts.

Obama probably already knows who he wants to nominate. And they're just going through the vetting now to be safe. Oh, and I found it kind of funny that Stevens was confirmed 98-0. Ha! I wonder what the odds are of that happening this time around.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 05:21 PM) We'll see if it's right of course, but I found this argument that Sarah Palin is very likely to be the Republican Nominee in 2012 to be an accurate summation of my feelings right now. Who said Huckabee and Romney are her main competitors? Campaigns matter. And personally I think someone like Haley Barbour or others could chew her up and spit her out. But like you you say, we'll see.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) Well Hannity has proof of the sarcasm as this article from before the show illustrates. "We've got veterans, we've got stay-at-home moms, people who really don't like the direction of the country. They're speaking out and they've been compared to terrorists, Tim McVeigh-wannabes. They've been called un-American. They've been called every name in the book. Now, the latest attack is that these people are violent," he said. Of course that's ignored even in the Dem thread on this site...where we have so many highly educated and logical posters.. For the record, thanks for clearing that up. Hannity's comment out of context was whack!
