La Russa arrested for DUI in Feb; charged day before hire
Stinky Stanky replied to Baron's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Gotta kneel if you're too drunk to stand. Remember what Lincoln said about General Grant's geting sauced too much? (Well, not really)"There is a popular tradition to the effect that Lincoln, when informed that General Grant drank too much whiskey, retorted, “Tell me what brand it is, and I’ll send a barrel to each of the other generals.” But, in truth, these words were a mere fabrication: they were put into Lincoln’s mouth by Miles O’Reilly (Charles G. Halpine) in a burlesque report of an imaginary banquet supposed to have been held at Delmonico’s in the year 1862. They ran through the press as Lincoln’s ipsissima verba, and to this day it is hard to make people father them on the real author." Not funny, like a Chief of Police who drives drunk, but tragic and especially tragic for the Sox. -
White men, to be more specific.

Were the polls that far off in 2016? H Clinton won the popular vote by almost 3% and that was almost as high as the 538.com poll of polls. How would you account for the huge discrepancy in 2020, where the poll of polls was around 7% vs. the 4.3 you quote. My first thought is that the missing 2.7% that the Republican candidate got has to be attributed to vote fraud that favored the Republican candidate. What other explanation could there be? (You know that I'm semi-joking, but claiming vote fraud without any real proof is in high fashion Right About Now.)

If Biden expects cooperation with the losing side, remember that the same people who pledged to stop Obama's agenda and largely did stop it are still in power. Not to mention a serial litigator who can't admit defeat at the helm.

One had a halo, the other has horns. Why? That's above my pay grade.

iIn other words, the same as the last four years.

Fess up here, how many times did you wake up? Your buds at SoxTalk gotta know. ?

Why don't the totals match the polls? Easiest and best answer is that Trump's voters don't all admit their intentions to pollsters, even right-leaning ones like Rasmussen and Gallup. Notice I didn't say Fox. They run a pretty neutral polling operation and straight news division.

First step would be recounts. I think they're mandatory if the margin of victory is under a certain percent. What could a court challenge be based on? Counting votes?

Look forward to other ways of raising revenue to pay the state's bills. Tax retirement income like all the other surrounding states. Would that require a constitutional amendment? Reducing pension liabilities? That would require an amendment. Raising the general tax rate on our already regressive income tax? Why do I say regressive? Because those folks "lucky" enough to have a $15,000 real estate tax bill can deduct 5% of that on their income tax returns and you apartment dwellers can deduct zero.

The problem being that if someone votes mail-in and happens to be dead or otherwise ineligible on election day, that ballot has to be pulled. So the prudent way is to count those ballots after election day. If I'm wrong here, pls correct me. My compliments to all of you for keeping this friendly.

Once you get there, what are you going to do for a living? You're right about SF and the rest of CA. Crazy cost of living.

Lordy, do I need this. I'm not a hockey fan and the Bears fail to excite me this season. Shoulda been a Bull when he was drafted, finally is. That was when the Bulls had a publicly attended draft at a Loop theater and Mo's family was there begging and pleading. But they drafted some bozo with lead toes who was soon gone. I don't even want to look it up.

Yours was more exciting. No driveways in the Mexican desert. No federales either.

The common cold is a corona virus and we don't have a vaccine for it, some say. BUT, the common cold may be caused by any of close to 200 similar viruses, which is why we keep getting them esp. if we behave irresponsibly. So what are we supposed to believe?

Happy for him and proud of him. Side to side and coming in he covers acres. Going back? He's got work to do. But I'm the guy who liked A Garcia and C Lee going back so what do I know?

Add the Green Party's Jill Stein to that list. Did she cost H Clinton the 2016 election? Was she a Russian ploy to do just that? I think so.
-
? Never saw that one before. I recall Yokel Haram, now what were the others?

Hit 100 once, in the Mexican desert. Long ago, in a Corvair! Nuff for me.

Good history, Balta. Thx. Do you recall Obama saying that he would prefer the single payer system but the employer financed system was already in place and he had to work with it? I guess that places O to the political right of Ted. Which makes me ask, doesn't the employer financed system hurt the smaller employers with labor-intensive businesses and favor the capital-intensive businesses with fewer employees?

Cairo is one tough Brazilian kid.

For those of us hoping a vaccine will fix it all and is right around the corner, this is not good. https://bgr.com/2020/10/30/coronavirus-immunity-reinfection-experiment-russia/

Respect for institutioms is important. Like when Tony, Pujols and Theriot chose not to come to the White House with the rest of the team when they were honored after the Cards won it all.

Single issue voters are the key. Get enough of them by identifying them and appealing to one specific issue and you just might win. Abortion is just one of many such categories.
