They just announced construction on 80/94. It's not gonna be pretty.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) I'm excited. It'll be nice just to see some baseball again. PLAY BALL who the f*** are the nationals? Are they the Generals baseball playing counterparts?

White Sox vs. Rockies (3/2/2005)

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) Is there any way to follow this online or will anyone be doing PBP? I don't have a sound card on the puter here at work. First post of this thread has a link to the Colorado game feed... There's no coverage in Chicago. -

QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) I didn't see that in the story. Do you have a link to that I'd love to stick that in the face of a Cub fan here at work. Ran out of green ink for that one... It was a little bit too close to reality I guess -

QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) So did Dish Network. Now, about Steve Stone. I agree. I'd like to see him in the booth. But, why in the world would we want him as GM? Didn't we try that booth to Gm thing before with much failure? No thanks. I think he'd make a great Manager someday, but not a GM. I heard some rumors that he might be on one of the secondary broadcast teams for ESPN this summer. I'm pretty sure his gig over at 670 is just a weekly show. So he could do 1 or two games a week for ESPN no problem.

I guess this would be as good a place as any.... I posted this in the Rap thread, but I thought it should be in a mozilla thread too. http://people.zeelandnet.nl/marco/pimpzilla/ -- Best.Theme.Evar. P.I.M.P.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) The sox would have to one of the top teams in consideration to sign him. Esp if Shingo stays healthy and has another good yr and is resigned. Matsuzaka's numbers look real good, good control, low walks and a lot of K's. I could see the Sox letting Garland go [isn't he eligible to be a FA in '06?] and signing Matsuzaka at half the price as Jon would likely get on the open market [esp if Jon has a yr with a sub 4 ERA and wins 15+ games]. Somebody with more knowledge of the situation can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Matsuzaka will be "posted". Posted meaning auctioned off to the highest bidder, just for the right to negotiate a deal. It's a double dip. First you pay his old team for the right to have him, then you pay him whatever his demands are. That means he's going to end up on a team with deep pockets(read Yankees). Garland isn't a FA until following the '06 season, but he could be traded or non-tendered after this season. It's not like we're locked into a multi-year deal with him.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) With this new Channel FSN, now has 24 hours of Poker and Beyond the glory.. it seems! I haven't had it since December. My cable company pulled the plug on that dog.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 08:17 AM) I'd like to see "Survivor" by Chuck Palahniuk made into a movie (he's the guy who wrote "Fight Club". Basically, the main character is part of this apocalyptic death cult. Just about the entire cult offs themselves except for him and a few others. He becomes the only survivor of the cult and gets all these media deals, etc. Then he meets this woman who can see disasters in the future. Its a difficult plot to explain without giving anything away. I think the one where the main character was dictating the book into the cockpit voice recorder was in "pre-production" when I read it about a year ago. All his books are messed up, but in a good way... All of their plots are running together for me right now, because he does tend to have some simillar type characters in each book.

The problem with TB is there are more Yankees fans in Tampa/St. Pete than DRays fans from years of the Yanks having their STing there.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) Oh well. I tried. Don't worry about it. I've got really poor reading comprehension.(My ACT scores in HS went something like this. Math 32, Science 30, Other Category 27, Reading 12) So I tried to dumb it down because I know I didn't follow, and I thought I had a solid grasp of the concept.
-
Because YASNY lost even me, in simplest terms. Players are property of one team for their first 6 years in the majors. They become arbitration eligible after three seasons. The first three seasons they make near league minimum. That is the case for most of the 17 who were signed.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) Sad thing is, Classic Sports Network was better before ESPN bought it. Now, I rarely watch it. I never saw CSN, but I can pretty much guarantee ESPN U will be better than the alternative. ESPN already has their Full Court(NCAA Basketball?) and Gameday(football) packages, that they will pull some content from. Plus they have ESPNplus, which should remain the same for home markets, (i.e. U of I/NW/Purdue/rest of the big ten on WCIU) but some games would get picked up nationally on ESPNU.

Santo awaits call from Vet Committee
Gene Honda Civic replied to Texsox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Santo -- Black Ink: Batting - 11 (201) (Average HOFer ~ 27) Gray Ink: Batting - 147 (87) (Average HOFer ~ 144) HOF Standards: Batting - 40.9 (137) (Average HOFer ~ 50) HOF Monitor: Batting - 88.0 (173) (Likely HOFer > 100) Minoso -- Black Ink: Batting - 15 (146) (Average HOFer ~ 27) Gray Ink: Batting - 189 (46) (Average HOFer ~ 144) HOF Standards: Batting - 35.1 (191) (Average HOFer ~ 50) HOF Monitor: Batting - 81.0 (200) (Likely HOFer > 100) Both are fringe candidates --- I don't think it can be overstated how difficult it was for Santo to play at that level with diabetes. Back then, they didn't really understand diet, blood sugar, etc. Minoso has played in 7 decades I beleive. Impressive. -

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) Methinks AJP is referring to the rotation. As of right now, Contreras is not above average, and Garland is about right at average. Contreras' stuff is unquestionably above average, though... Garland... well, some here talk about his great stuff. If he ever finds real command of his curveball then yeah he's above average. Right now though, he's just "even steven".

White Sox vs. Rockies (3/2/2005)
Gene Honda Civic replied to thomsonmi's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) That there be the opening day lineup. I like it. We should open vs. CC, a lefty. Pods really shouldn't be anywhere near the top of the order in that situation. Same with Pierz. vs. Righties, I don't think that Dye's .240/.306/.429 the last three years is the type of production I'm looking for in my #5 hitter.
