GT 7/26: CUBS @ SOX, 7:10 pm CT, NBCSC
Sad that the got a sellout yesterday for these farcical interleague games. Thinking Lance Lynn is here right now: https://geneandgeorgetti.com/

Moncada
Just said what I said about a second opinion because Yoan stated he feels better but he’s not at 100%. Why is he out there now? Will it get better with more rest, does playing not exacerbate the issue (seemed to get worse in May before they finally pulled the plug)? Has a quality independent doctor assessed the situation on Yoan’s behalf? Doesn’t sound like we will get any of these answered based on limited reporting around the White Sox and what has been disclosed to date. The Sox can pound sand, but just hope Yoan gets the best advice.

Fire Rick Hahn
He is too bust alright.

Fire Rick Hahn
IMO it's always been poor roster management including depth. All players undergo injuries, most have at least competent fill ins who can field a position. the Sox repeatedly for years threw DHs/1B to cover everything but catcher. Same with lack of rotation depth. Bullpen is the only place Hahn plans for, and like everything he over spends to do so.

This is a real Sox/Cubs game headline? “Burger boasts more versatility in first MLB start at 2B”
Your team is going nowhere, Burger missed much of his career with significant injuries. Why not let him concentrate on hitting his first full MLB season. He has been struggling since he was tasked to play everyday for the first time and after pitchers found a successful way to attack him. If this is a thing that makes sense longterm, let him work on it the entire offseason and Spring Training to put Jake in the best chance to succeed in 2024. Jake Burger 2017 Games Played 51 (Minors) 2018-2020 Games Played 0 2021 (82 AAA + 15 Sox) 2022 (39 AAA + 51 Sox) 2023 (5 AAA + 83 Sox) In the meantime trade a few of your current six DHs (Burger, Grandal, Eloy, Perez, Sheets, Vaughn) on the 40 man roster, and stop hoarding more.

Moncada should have gotten a second and or third opinion to determine whether back surgery is a preferable option. If he had it before or has it now, and recovers, he can have a good year for his FA contract. I wouldn't trust the Sox with my health. Hell, I might not trust them with my next Churros.

Grifol speaks (because Hahn was to gutless to do so)...
The last game the Sox were 20 games under .500 https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA201909240.shtml September 24, 2019: Cleveland 11 Chicago 0 Win: Mike "Scumbag" Clevinger (13-3) 7 Innings 0 Runs Loss: Carson Fulmer (1-2) 1 Inning 4 ER If the Sox lose tomorrow, they will reach the nadir of the 2019 season.

Clevinger remains on the IL.- 7/25 Game Thread: Cubs @ White Sox 7:10CT
Too bad Madrigal is on the IL, would have laughed my ass off if he homered this series as well.- 7/25 Game Thread: Cubs @ White Sox 7:10CT
If Zavala C and Remillard 2B played today, think the game may be close / tied between the stolen bases and other poor defense Grandal offers plus positive at bats from Remillard. Still believe Vaughn should have been IL'd, Burger or Grandal play 1B.- 7/25 Game Thread: Cubs @ White Sox 7:10CT
Burger OPS .765 and falling.- 7/25 Game Thread: Cubs @ White Sox 7:10CT
Wow, sounded like he went over the wall robbing Moncada. That would have been an awesome return for Yoan with a HR.- 7/25 Game Thread: Cubs @ White Sox 7:10CT
As bad as Sheets is, I'd be OK pinch hitting him for crippled Moncada LH here.- 7/25 Game Thread: Cubs @ White Sox 7:10CT

5 Stolen Bases through 6 2/3 innings pitched. At least they are down to only one DH catcher after sending Perez down.- 7/25 Game Thread: Cubs @ White Sox 7:10CT
Moncada was a solid player through 2021. Lucas and Cease had a few good seasons. Lynn four good months before his extension, knee brace and playoff implosion. The rest were complete busts. Not their fault Hahn couldn't build around them 2020-2023 Sale Moncada 13.9 fWAR (5 1/3 seasons) Kopech 2.5 fWAR (2 2/3 seasons) Quintana Cease 11.7 fWAR (3 1/2 seasons) Eloy 5.7 fWAR (4 seasons) Eaton Giolito 14.4 fWAR (5 1/3 seasons) Lopez 7.7 fWAR (5 seasons) Steak Dinner 6.7 (2 2/3 Seasons - 4.2 of which was 2021)- 7/25 Game Thread: Cubs @ White Sox 7:10CT
He has made a few routine plays and from the sound of Len and DJ a good DP turn taking the relay from Tim. Looking forward to watching him via the condensed game. Really just want him not to get hurt, and that they don't do this again unless he gets a full offseason and Spring Training to transition if this is a go forward plan in 2024.- 7/25 Game Thread: Cubs @ White Sox 7:10CT
