The only move I expect tomorrow is Lucas Giolito being activated from the Bereavement List for Banks.

it's so bad Pittsburgh Pirate fans are trolling White Sox Twitter.

You're not going to get 5K sold this year, because the season ticket base made up of die-hards and a substantial number of sponsor held tickets is higher. Looks like 13,794 is close to the weekend season ticket base based on their 4/16 attendance with likely no walkup crowd (cold, rainy and miserable). Their 5/4 day game against Minnesota will show their likely weekday season ticket base, I'd guess around 11,000, unless there is a very nice weather day that brings some walk up interest. They are going to continue to try to sell tickets with $4.15 tax day sales throughout the season. Stubhub lists tickets to enter at $4-$6 for a majority of the schedule, so beyond already sold season ticket and group sales, it's going to be hard to push the needle beyond incredible weather days or a miraculous turnaround. Despite the start, I believe the Sox will end up in the 64-69 win range this season even with the expected July sell off.

I'm taking the tanking lineups and manager Ricky Renteria over either of the two. Jerry would be happy with the attendance on a weekday day game compared to this year, Fans and Hahn with their year to date winning record and performance. Objectively, there are many good to solid/great employees throughout the organization, most are unsung and not in the public spotlight in anyway, at least as known quantities, in addition to the long time stalwarts people do know such as Roger Bossard or Gene Honda. You replace the six senior officers (SVP and up listed below) and perhaps others in in addition to bringing in someone to rebuild baseball operations and you can turn this around in possibly in 3-4 years. Pizer did a great job as a finance guy and managing both two stadiums (he works on behalf of the Bulls stadium as well) and overseeing finance, but he is 50 years into his career and due for retirement. Kenny announced his retirement / departure when his deal is up (2024?). It sounds as though Brooks Boyer is pushing to be the next John McDonough and he definitely needs to go after nothing but stale promotions and severe cutbacks to the season ticket perks he started when he first took over that were really thoughtful and creative. Not to mention his backstabbing and douchebaggery exposed over the years. Hahn and Reifert, hard pass. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/team/front-office Officers Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf Senior Executive Vice President Howard Pizer Executive Vice President Ken Williams Senior Vice President/General Manager Rick Hahn Senior Vice President, Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer Brooks Boyer Senior Vice President, Communications Scott Reifert

Thank you. I finally got around to watching the Hawk interview with AJ before the season. There was a thread here about the comment made about being fired/forced out. Many of us perhaps suspected that may have been the case. What I found more interesting were two comments regarding Brooks Boyer. If it were just Hawk, than one could also accept them with a grain of salt because he was dismissed, but it has been consistent with public reports primarily from Farmeo and Jason, and also consistent with personal conversations I've had with one prominent White Sox employee in the past. https://soxmachine.com/2023/03/pedro-grifol-inherits-issues-from-white-sox-but-not-expectations/ Hawk Segment starts 52 Minutes in. Highlights 57:50 Opposed to the pitching clock due to the nature of the game, allowing pitchers getting into a rhythm. 1:01 - The importance of batter positioning in the box (or pitchers locations) and the importance of instilling a "sense of control" of the plate. 1:05 - He did not want the GM Job, but Jerry talked him into it. 1:06 - Jerry's word used to be his bond and the organization was a great place to work for. Brooks Boyer has influenced Jerry to the point neither of these attributes remain in the organization. 1:08 - I got fired. 1:10 - Cleveland has a great manager. Sox have all these changes, Hawk never heard of Pedro). Went into the clubhouse issues he said he discussed with Jerry, the Latin players listening to music and the White players working their social media accounts, can't tell whether a team won or lost after the game in the clubhouse. 1:12:50 - Manfred is trying to change the game, and doesn't know what the game entails, these changes are ridiculous. 1:14 - Cleveland will win the Division, they asked about a wild card and he said he hopes, and that he still follows and roots for the team. Said 2022 was by far the worst White Sox year in all of Hawk's years around the club. There was no comradery, even Abreu said it in Houston, they weren't a team or family. 1:14:50 - Said his criteria for a good manager is whether teams are playing hard for the team, not wins and losses. Are players busting their ass and into each game. If you have a team that busts their ass all the time, you have a good manager. I really enjoyed the interview. I wasn't a huge fan of his style of broadcasting (did love his love of the team and baseball).

Five players you would keep to build around
South Side Hit Men replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
2026-2027 is the earliest realistic target of creating the first legitimate White Sox "multi-championship competitive window" since Larry Himes' core in the early 1990s. It will take 2-4 years for a significant core of minor league players to begin to bloom and build around. Everyone on the 40 man today should be available, assuming a solid new GM is given time to evaluate and rebuild the organization including scouting, analytics, and player development and coaching (minors and majors). The top five, primarily focused on the 2026-2027 target years are Robert Jr., Colas and the three youngest players who haven't had their clock started (Montgomery (21), Ramos (21) and Mena (20)). I'd be open to a trade of either Robert or Colas by a competent GM, based on either getting a solid haul and or if they did not want to commit to either/both long term. I listed my thoughts in the linked thread, including the players I want a new GM assessing, not Hahn. -

It's unlikely the Sox win 3 out of 4 against Tampa, which means the upcoming Twins series will likely be the Sox' best chance for a series win before tying the worst stretch over the past 25 seasons, including the tanking era. No, Jerry just stopped the clearly ineffective Hahn spending spigot after Tony left. Jerry will likely significantly cut payroll over the next three seasons unless there is a miraculous turn-around and attendance can be salvaged. Jerry had incentive to spend with known guaranteed revenue after the pent-up COVID cabin fever demand and his BBF Tony managing, but does not have incentive to spend with the current group or likely on-field performance expectations in 2023 and beyond. Hahn is just here to collect unearned paychecks. The White Sox organization is the Webster's Dictionary definition example of quiet quitting, Liam, a few others and shitcanned Jose Abreu being the outliers in terms of giving a s%*# within the organization. Hahn feigns giving a s%*#, and likely doesn't like being embarrassed by what he accomplished, but in the end guaranteed cash does not create accountability or results.

It would be interesting to know just how often Kenny comes to Chicago. He's been living in Arizona the past 3-4+ years. Perhaps he stays in town in spurts during the season. He is just trying to defuse pressure on the new manager and his players at this point. What else can he say or do beyond resign? He said he has no power to fire Hahn, it's JR's call, so there will be no accountability. John Paxson is still with the Bulls after decades of debacles. Kenny and Hahn are with the Sox as long as Jerry is alive and they want to stay.

Agree, unless you are counting both Los Angeles stadiums as “Classic”. Angels Stadium and Oakland Coliseum both opened in 1966, the latter for the Oakland Raiders. Comiskey Park is the eighth oldest MLB stadium, and ninth oldest overall (Florida Suncoast Dome opened September 1990 for the Davis Cup). On May 28, 1989, the Chicago White Sox lost 7-5 in the final MLB game played at Exhibition Stadium. Fourteen of the thirty MLB stadiums in use today opened for baseball by the end of the 1999 season. Date = First official MLB or Federal League Baseball Game (exhibition games and other events not counted). Classic Century + Old Stadiums: April 20, 1912 Fenway Park April 23, 1914 Wrigley Field * Modern Stadiums (1962-1999): April 10, 1962 Dodgers Stadium April 19, 1966 Angels Stadium April 17, 1968 Oakland Coliseum April 10, 1973 Kaufman Stadium June 5, 1989 Skydome April 18, 1991 Comiskey Park II April 6, 1992 Camden Yards April 4, 1994 Jacobs Field April 26, 1995 Coors Field March 31,1998 Florida Suncoast Dome March 31, 1998 Phoenix Stadium July 15, 1999 Seattle Stadium Note *: Built for $250k and opened as Weegham Park for the Federal League Chicago Whalers. William Wrigley Jr. purchased Wrigley Field for $500K after the 1915 Whalers won the Federal League Championship, after which the league folded. The Cubs played at West Side Park through the conclusion of the 1915 season. Their first MLB game played at the still named Weegham Park was on April 20, 1916. -
Hank Greenberg was the sole experienced GM hired in White Sox history after Bill Veeck purchased the team in 1959. Greenberg was Veeck's farm director in Cleveland. After Veeck sold the Cleveland ballclub after the 1948 World Series Championship, the new owner promoted Hank Greenberg to GM. Returning player Larry Doby recommended three players to Greenberg to scout in the Negro Leagues. The next offseason, Doby asked what scouts said about Doby's recommendations.

Perhaps new ownership will be willing to pay beyond minimum manager wages for an experienced winning manager. The White Sox have had 42 managers, 31 were first time hires. Only four of the 11 experienced managers were hired with a previous winning record, and five finished with a winning record for the White Sox. Successful Experienced White Sox Manager Hires: Manager (White Sox Record) Marty Marion (179-138) Al Lopez (840-650) Eddie Stanky (206-197) Bob Lemon (124-112) Jeff Torborg (250-235) White Sox Managers hired with previous MLB Managing Experience: White Sox Years / Name / (Prior W/L) 2017-2020 Rick Renteria (73-89) 1988-91 Jeff Torborg (157-201) 1986-88 Jim Fregosi (237-248) 1986 Doug Radar (155-200) 1977-78 Bob Lemon (207-218) 1966-68 Eddie Stanky (260-238) 1957-65; 68-69 Al Lopez (570-354) 1954-56 Marty Marion (177-234) 1930-31 Donie Bush (322-256) 1924 Johnny Evers (129-120) 1910-11 Hugh Duffy (254-340)

It is actual stock (par value $0.025 per share), but the articles of incorporation state profit not reinvested in the team, including the sales proceeds from a liquidation of the franchise, is to be donated to the Green Bay Packers Charitable Foundation. The bylaws also state the corporation shall be located in Green Bay. https://h2o.law.harvard.edu/text_blocks/28518 I believe nearly all fans of every team across the world would prefer the having the same type entity (all profits go to charity, the team cannot be relocated) than the current arrangement of a select few people profiting off of in many cases heavily tax subsidized private businesses.

Dane Dunning has a 1.7 bWAR or 2.4 better than Lynn 2022 - 2023. $34M cheaper. Avery Weems hasn’t played yet this season (promoted to AA last season).

Their A Ball teams are playing best across the organization. Makes sense as these players have the least exposure to White Sox organizational coaching and player development. A 10-4 A+ 9-4 AA 6-9 AAA 10-11

Lance Lynn’s top comparable pitcher at his age is Johnny Cueto, who has outperformed Lynn the past two seasons. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/l/lynnla01.shtml Lance Lynn was a negative 0.7 bWAR entering the game tonight over his hasty contract extension.
