  1. The article from a Yankees perspective is a merciless critique of what went down here https://www.pinstripealley.com/2023/4/27/23699854/mlb-yankees-disappointment-white-sox-2023-letting-benintendi-go-was-the-right-move-the-sox-stink Additional zings: Sox do not take player development seriously Sox failed to meaningfully change anything about that part of their organization and essentially blew every draft of their rebuild phase. Abreu forced out due to wasted draft picks of Sheets, Burger and Vaughn who collectively after 2,000 plate appearances are under 1 WAR. Picked Madrigal over Kelenic and then spun him into Kimbrel and Pollock. Their other mid level FA signings Keuchel and Grandal combined for a negative 2.8 WAR in 2022.
  2. Yes, I broke out the Hawk's Sox segments (see below), but the 1:05:50 mark is what you're looking for regarding Hawks comments on Brooks Boyer and also recommending Jerry sell because he is pushing 90, Hawk believes Jerry is not enjoying it anymore, and that the Sox had a bad season last year and will probably going to have another bad season this year. (Hawk knew this would be s%*#). I recall others mentioning he was speaking out on Hahn's job in a different forum / interview. Hahn and Boyer need to go ASAP.
  3. While John was removed from the top spot, both John and Jim Paxson remain with the Bulls, because jobs for life means jobs for life. https://www.nba.com/bulls/chicago-bulls-staff-directory John Paxson - Senior Advisor Basketball Operations Jim Paxson - Director of Pro Personnel Billy Donovan III - Video Coordinator
  4. April 26, 2023 For Immediate Release: Senior Vice President of Stadium Operations Terry Savarise has instructed staff to deny Rob Colletti admittance into any future White Sox home games. Stadium staff will request fans wearing a Colletti or Berto Jersey to remove or cover up the offensive message or face ejection and possible arrest. Fans displaying signs referencing Berto or Colletti will face immediate ejection and revocation without compensation of any remaining White Sox tickets in their name. Go Sox!
  5. Well that and the fact the “Executive of the Year” gave Ricky an extension 60 games earlier, after which time the White Sox had their best record under Hahn. I pointed this out real time, but the consensus after fans were subjected to non stop propaganda by Garfien, Stone and others employed by Jerry was that Hahn deserved his award and Ricky his pink slip. Didn’t make sense then or now. I still maintain Jerry offered the job to Tony sometime between Tony’s arrest and the end of the 2020 faux season, knowing that Tony would no longer be employable once the second DUI came out, following the death of the player earlier within the Angels organization. Also believe with Jerry’s connections down in Arizona, he got the police to sit on the public release of the arrest report until the signing and press conference, and also got him off with a wrist slap in court.
  6. Was cool to hear Jimmy Butler and Bulls knocked off the Number 1 Seed. Need the media to keep the Heat on Hahn this afternoon and beyond until he joins Robin, Ricky and Tony.
  7. Yes, its been awhile for me not to have a favorite White Sox player as well. Faced similar after separating from following the Sox post 1994. Makes missing the games much easier this season, rooting for Houston this season. Former Favorite White Sox Players: 1975 SP Wilbur Wood 1976-1981 CF Chet Lemon 1982-1989 RF Harold Baines 1990 C Carlton Fisk 1991-1995 LF Tim Raines 2003-2008 3B Joe Crede 2009-2012 C A. J. Pierzynski 2014-2022 1B Jose Abreu
  8. Bruce Levine would have clutched his pearls. Glad this aired on the White Sox Flagship Station. Love the two hosts reactions throughout the call, sounds like they agree with just about all of it. The Sun Times or someone else should send this guy to Hahn's press conference tomorrow. Every new Soxtalk registrant should have to listen call as part of their Soxtalk User ID approval.
  9. Well nearly all. Ricky was extended by the "Executive of the Year", and should have been allowed 2021 to continue with the core he developed and who played hard for him. If they would have brought in Hinch or Bud Black, it would have made more sense and I would have understood because both are solid managers. The Sox of course didn't, and now they are on manager three over the past 353 games during their alleged "Multiple Championship Contention Window". There has been zero accountability taken with the source of this continuous failure, and until Jerry leaves there likely won't be.
  10. So we can expect a White Flag trade, Corpse Ball and Even More Tanking. Sounds about right.
  11. Ricky Renteria was the lone manager to hold players accountable and produced the best winning percentage in the Hahn era. Players possibly grudgingly respected La Russa the first few weeks of 2021 (Tim said wait and see in Spring Training), but after the Mercedes incident, there was little respect shown publicly including Jose and Tim telling La Russa to GFY if he thought about holding them out of a lineup. Tim also publicly told Yermin to ignore Tony. Hahn spoke like he was looking forward to dumping Abreu during his comments at the La Russa exit conference and at other times last year. Hahn showed Abreu zero respect, though it's hard to recall a time Hahn has shown anyone respect beyond kissing Jerry's ass. The Sox weren't planning on competing in 2023 anyway. Instead they pissed away $75M for the worthless LFer. Abreu should have been White Sox for life, as a player and beyond in whatever role he wanted. Then again, Jerry Reinsdorf and his Cronies have shat on many people over the years, be it Harry Caray, Carlton Fisk, Larry Himes, Frank Thomas, Ozzie Guillen and others. It has gotten so bad, even lifer Hawk Harrelson is speaking out about the poor ethics and integrity of Jerry's current organization.
  12. This article with both plays summarizes it best. Thought the first play wasn't bad, though Robert was coming in after shading to CF/LF, the second play was pure douchebaggery on Robert's part. https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-white-sox/when-is-eloy-jimenez-going-to-fight-luis-robert-jr/
  13. Too early to vote, and I think they will play a bit better when TA/YM return and LH will help a lot. That said, I don't think this team is substantially better than the 2017 or 2019 tanking teams. This team reminds me most of 1976, with several talented players, some young, some at the end of the line, and just a bad season for most of them plus little to no depth which resulted in a 64-97 record. 1976 bWAR / Player (Career bWAR) 2.8 Rich Gossage (41.2) 2.4 Brian Downing (51.5) 1.1 Wilbur Wood (50.0) 0.6 Terry Forster (20.4) 0.4 Chet Lemon (55.6) 0.4 Bucky Dent (17.5) 0.3 Pete Vuckovich (16.4) -0.1 Minnie Minoso (53.2)
  14. Hell, Dylan Mulvaney might look good at 2B or RF on the White Sox.
  15. Hahn will feign he is darn tootin' mad tomorrow, not someone pleasant to be around taking a cue from Kenny. Press will toss meek softball questions and call it a day.
  16. Are any of them healthy enough to pitch more than twice a week?
  17. Jason will be pleased to report the Sox will remain within 7 games of the Twins as they are down 8. He will not mention Kansas City can catch the Sox with a win today in Arizona.
  18. They were not legitimately trying to contend this entire period. They have never corrected 2B or RF this entire time, never built the starting pitching depth and solid bullpen required to advance in the playoffs. 2017-2019 - Tanking 2020 - Shortened season, 2 viable starting pitchers with no upgrades due to "catastrophic losses" we all know were a crock of s%*#. This was a planned tanking season until the 60 game Central schedule farse made them "contenders". 2021 - Jerry hires crony manager, Tony/Hahn acquires end of line guys who played for / know Tony (Lynn, Eaton, Kelly, Diekman, Jake Lamb, etc.) plus Hendriks, the one legitimate signing. 2022 - No further legitimate signings (Graveman, Leury) 2023 - Payroll reductions begin with Jerry having no further incentive to prop up his crony manager. No legitimate acquisitions (the LFer is a joke). 2024 - Payroll reductions continue in earnest between July - November 2023, FA acquisition hold will continue indefinitely on the road to getting payroll to the 15th - 20th MLB level.
  19. Yes. And even though the paid attendance will settle in at 11-13K plus, doesn't mean actual attendance will be even half that when the weather is bad, which does impact revenue in terms of parking and concessions. I feel bad for everyday fans who bought season tickets hoping to at least break even on the secondary market for games they can't go to, but the $4-$6 daily floor will only lead to more cancellations this off-season which may finally force legitimate change at 35th and Shields.
