  1. I don't see giving a shit in Eloy's future, at least until 2024 when team buyouts are on the horizon.
  2. Rodon has 0.9 bWAR. Apparently not worth a QO.
  3. Top Pitch Velocity MPH Reynaldo Lopez 99.1 Reynaldo Lopez 99.0 Reynaldo Lopez 98.6 Reynaldo Lopez 98.5 Reynaldo Lopez 98.4
  4. I like the baby version the best.
  5. Didn't score, but liked Abreu's at bat. Battled well. Hopefully he continues to see things well and picks it up over the next few weeks. Wonder who is getting tomorrow off? Luis looks like a good candidate, hasn't been off in a few weeks.
  6. 2017 was the last solid year by a White Sox Right Fielder. Team Games Played in RF Leader 2022 Adam Engel 0.7 bWAR 2021 Adam Eaton 0.0 bWAR 2020 Nomar Mazara 0.0 bWAR 2019 Ryan Cordell -0.6 bWAR 2018 Avisail Garcia 0.5 bWAR 2017 Avisail Garcia 4.4 bWAR
  7. He is 24, most players continue to improve through their peak 27-28 years. 2021 92 OPS + 2022 133 OPS +
  8. And if they had a team full of Eloys, there would be a lot of forfeits.
  9. Wouldn’t bother flying in to cower in fear and eat tourist chainstore pizza in Rosemont. Sounds like the OP is ready to have a good time, and has several good suggestions by actual residents of Chicago, to enjoy their time in Chicago.
  10. Ricky didn’t even get one legitimate chance. He had two starting pitchers available in Oakland, one of whom couldn’t pitch four innings and who most here want gone. Hahn extended Ricky 60 games prior to firing him. Hahn’s two lineup 2020 lineup additions (Mazara and Encarnacion) sucked ass. Hahn gets GM of the year, and Ricky gets shanked, all for the same exact team performance. Jerry increased payroll by 50%, spent it on Tony and Ricks guys, brought in the first competent pitching coach in at least a decade (recruited by the player Jerry/Hahn screwed over for $50k this offseason), and the team has regressed the past two years. Tony was sold as being a far better strategic manager. The team would always be prepared. He would never be out managed. A beat writer had to explain to him the rules of the game. The team played with far more passion under Ricky. They never quit, Ricky never quit. Tony sleepwalks through games, his primary concern or action comes only when it comes to unwritten rules. 2021 and the first two months of 2022 was Tony’s second chance with the White Sox. And just like the first one, when he was correctly and thankfully shitcanned by Hawk Harrelson, the time has come to pull the plug on this debacle and attempt to salvage what remaining time is left with this core and season.
  11. Today? Platoon Engel and Sheets. Would still try to trade Eloy for at least one good player who can contribute now, and also acquire a RF and or 2B at the deadline. Wanted the team to go younger the past few years, but they have went the other direction.
  12. That is correct. The murder rate has steadily and significantly declined the past 30 years in the safest neighborhoods (i.e. the touristy neighborhoods and far NW and SW sides), and is the same today across the entire city as when Daley took over in 1989. The worst neighborhoods on the South and West sides however, are experiencing record rates, as the jobs providing a living wage in the city for high school graduates 50 years ago were destroyed / exported overseas and have never returned. https://www.wsj.com/articles/murders-are-rising-the-most-in-a-few-isolated-precincts-of-major-cities-11620446460
  13. 1. You didn't have to "unload" Kimbrel if you didn't pick up the option. 2. & 3. - Hahn had at least 3 years to address RF and 2B, and have failed at each and every attempt. Pollock is not a RF, has never played RF, doesn't have the arm or experience to play RF. He is yet another LF added to the pile of LF/DH broken toys on this team. 4. This team has lacked SP depth the past three years. They didn't even have 3 SPs available for the 2020 playoffs. The Lynn trade was good, but didn't like the premature extension. He hasn't been healthy since. Part was due to injuries, that happens. Part due to lack of development beyond Kopech, and banking on Crochet to ramp up to SP level over the next two years. Part of that was relying on old players (SP and in the lineup), which have a higher rate of both injuries and regression.
  14. The team may have publicly stated Pollock was acquired to play RF, but he has never been a RF and was exposed as uncomfortable the few games he played out there, including costing the White Sox the game in Detroit. Nobody else was able or willing to take Kimbrel's unnecessary contract, and the Sox had little leverage as a result. Would have made more sense to pay the $1M buyout and use the money to sign or acquire an actual player with at minimum acceptable experience in RF. Pollock is the best defensive LF on the team (beyond Robert or Engel who need to be in CF/RF). I'd prefer Eloy at DH permanently, but I don't see the Sox forcing that issue, at least in 2022. Pollock, Sheets and Vaughn will all lose significant playing time as a result, barring further injuries.
  15. When Chicago media asks legitimate questions, this is the response they receive. Most WSCR hosts have been critical of the hire and his decisions since. Many here claim the criticism is due to "ageism" or "politics", rather than what Tony is or is not doing as Manager. For the rest of what remains of the media, most just want to continue staying employed. Parroting the latest press release or statement, kissing ass and not rocking the boat is the easiest way to stay "out of trouble". That's how Bruce Levine has remained in the business since Abner Doubleday.
  16. A hell of a lot more relevant than "Tony La Russa's HOF credentials" in 2022. Timmy tweeted because Timmy wanted a game off, not because he is defending Tony. He could give a rats ass about Tony, as he has said on multiple occasions he does whatever the hell he wants to do, and ignores Tony when it's convenient. Tony also lets Abreu do whatever the hell he wants to do, including playing every single day. Tony jokes Abreu will kick his ass if Tony doesn't obey him, but the daily lineup cards prove otherwise, regardless of whether he is injured, tired, or not performing. With the dysfunctional ownership, they will be managing/playing every single day, for as many years as they damn well please. Hell, Abreu may take over as Player Manager in 2032 after Tony passes Connie Mack and finally steps down.
  17. Those tweets were directed at La Russa, after La Russa berated, benched, and was just fine with Minnesota throwing at Yermin for hitting a home run.
  18. The Braves have a competent Front Office and Ownership group, capable of bringing in quality talent to fill in for injuries, including their top player (Acuna). You think the Sox are winning a World Series if Robert goes down for the season, like Atlanta did? The Braves brought in four quality outfielders. Hahn brought in Jake Lamb, Nick Williams, Brian Goodwin and Billy Hamilton. / End Discussion
  19. 2021 Record against Playoff Teams: 14-19 (not including 1-3 ALDS) 2022 Record against current Playoff Teams: 5-9 (2-1 Tampa Bay 2-2 Los Angeles Angels 0-3 Minnesota; 1-3 New York Yankees)
  20. "Our team is on the floor." - Rick Hahn, January 19, 2021 No team is winning anything, let alone "multiple championships", with this track record. Major League Acquisitions 2021 - Spring Training through Year End (10 + Games Played): 3/16/21 Billy Hamilton (71 Games, 0.4 bWAR) 3/30/21 Jake Lamb (12 Games, -0.3 bWAR) 5/5/21 Brian Goodwin (72 Games, -0.5 bWAR) 7/29/21 Cesar Hernandez (53 Games, -0.7 bWAR) 7/29/21 Ryan Tepera (22 Games, 0.6 bWAR) 7/30/21 Craig Kimbrel (24 Games, 0.0 bWAR) Major League Acquisitions 2022 - Spring Training through Yesterday (5 + Games Played): 11/30/21 Kendall Graveman (16 Games, 0.2 bWAR) 12/1/22 Leury Garcia (26 Games, -0.4 bWAR) 3/14/22 Vince Velasquez (6 Games, -0.1 bWAR) 3/15/22 Josh Harrison (23 Games, -0.1 bWAR) 4/1/22 AJ Pollock (20 Games, -0.3 bWAR)
