Sox vs Blue Jays 6:07, Giolito vs Gausman

With little to no fan interest beyond ST holders they fleeced hawking playoff tickets last Summer/Fall, they stand pat or sell, versus being buyers like they were last July if they extra revenue. You see JR/Hahn quibbling over $50K with one of the few players who actually has performed well, and you tell your agent, "hard pass". The only players ever interested in signing with a Reinsdorf organization are those at the end of the line with no other / better options. That's how you get a roster full of old free agents like Lynn (extension), Grandal, Keuchel, Encarnacion, Eaton, Harrison, Leury, Cueto, etc. during your delusional "multi-championship window" TM. -

They need to draw well for the Sox to consider buying at the deadline. Have to believe they are underperforming internal attendance expectations sitting with under 23K and 18th in "the" MLB, even after the Cubs, Yankees and Red Sox series bump . https://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance The Dodgers are their last premier home opponent before the deadline, and if they limp through this week, I wouldn't expect a large walk-up demand. -

Robert is apparently still not healthy enough. There was a tweet somewhere he might be up for DHing tomorrow. Why activate yet another player not healthy enough to play? That's a Hahn question / decision, not that he is ever held accountable here or by the organization. -

Stupid all around, but McGuire is a real jerk-off for not running that out. -

Tony is pathetic, but Hahn's roster is even more pathetic. -

Cease and Graveman to Restricted List; Crick Up

Is this the game thread tonight? -
Their best game last season was when Tony was in Florida attending a funeral, and Miguel Cairo managed the Field of Dreams game. Solid lineup, the Sox played hard from the first to last pitch, very exciting baseball and their best win of the season.
-
Now he is in rest mode, Tony's orders.

When the hell is this club going to give TLR some days off?
-
We gave up our 3rd base side weekend tickets after 1985. Couldn’t stand Tony and booed his ass every time he returned to the dugout. Besides David Wells drunk puking on the mound against the Cubs, Tony is the only uniformed White Sox player or personnel I ever booed in nearly a half century.

I was told Rick Hahn is an elite GM. I was told La Russa would have the team ready to play and would never be out managed. I was told Grandal is an elite 120 game per season catcher. I was told Mazara, Eaton and Pollock were the answers in Right Field. I was told Nick Madrigal, Cesar Hernandez and Josh Harrison were the answers at Second Base. I was told it was genius to rush an extension with Lance Lynn, and a acquire Craig “Our Best Idea” Kimbrel last July after heavy usage the first four months. I was told a lot of things.

"Tim thought I was going to pay him market rate. I told him $60M for four years, take it or leave it."

If Josh Donaldson was a real man, with integrity, he would have shown contrition and reached out directly to offer a sincere apology to Tim on Saturday/Sunday, and tried to make amends with the Robinson family beyond a half ass PR release. This was just a failed PR gesture, with no sincere remorse or understanding for what he did and why it was wrong and caused harm. I don't have any faith that Donaldson will make true amends or understand, at least at this stage of his life. Like John Rocker, his sole concern was/is how it impacts other's acceptance of him, and shows little to no acceptance of how others are impacted by his actions.

Why sign Trevor Story when you can sign Josh Harrison, snag a Cesar Hernandez at the deadline if needed?

This was easily foreseeable in 2020, just took SoxTalk two years to come to the realization that overbidding for players over 30 in physical and productional decline is a terrible idea. Hahn is, and always has been among the bottom 3 GMs in the sport, and will continue to be as long as Jerry controls the team. Free Agent Signings + Extensions ($357.5M / 28 seasons) 2020 Grandal (Ages 31-34) $74M Keuchel (32-35) $73M Encarnacion (37) $12M Cishek (34) $6M Gio Gonzalez (34) $5M 2021 Hendriks (32-35) $54M - The one deal that looked good real time. Eaton (31) $8M 2022 Lynn (35-36) $38M Pollock (34-35) $24.5M - Via Kimbrell Option Graveman (31-33) $24M Kelly (34) $17M Leury (31-33) $16.5M Harrison (35) $5.5M
