Knights fire Wes Helms

Featured Replies

When we said fire the manager this is not what we meant.

Also, this makes me feel like something awful is happening down in Charlotte.

So this made me think to ask this question: How much of playing time at the minors is dictated by the major league club and how much is the minor league manager's discretion?

Was there some type of scandal disclosed? Pretty early in the season to pull a move like this without something unexpected occurring.

Hell, it's 21 games less than Ricky got before being fired after his extension.

Yikes.

He was named in the Vizquel lawsuit and was the only person that was still with the org.

If this is it...can they also please move on from Daryl Boston

Well hopefully this means the Sox will start holding all employees to a higher standard of conduct.

My first thought is, did the Knights or the Sox do the firing? Or some combination of actions?

RIP Todd Cruz lol. Sounds like a non-baseball offense.

Helms, a 1994 graduate of Ashbrook High School in Gastonia, NC, was inducted into the Gaston County Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. Drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 10th round of the 1994 MLB June Amateur Draft, Helms made his major league debut on September 5, 1998. Over the course of his career, he spent parts of 13 seasons in the majors with the Braves (1998, 2000-02), Milwaukee Brewers (2003-05), Florida Marlins (2006, 2008-11), and Philadelphia Phillies (2007). He compiled a career batting average of .256 with 694 hits, 75 home runs, and 374 RBIs over 1,212 big league games.

Stayed away during the Owner Lockout and Spring Training.

Was Pee-Wee's Playhouse discussed here?

The Sox had to make room for La Russa being sent to AAA

Oh, it was a glorious thread when they acquired him.  I laughed out loud many times.  Look for it.  I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The thread is currently on page 9.
