Sheets plays before Eloy does? The calculus is confusing.

Sheets up, Hamilton back, Lamb to IL, Gonzalez down
Gosh, you have to also wonder if Abreu will be DHing at this point.

The basic Escobar deal is probably set. The extra bits we have heard about could be for an expanded deal for the outfielder. Or just a deal for the outfielder by itself. Waiting to clear the decks on that possibility.- Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
Hahn may be locked in a room alone juggling steel bearings with one hand, a 3 finger glass of scotch in the other considering this.- Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
Besides, minor moves like this wouldn’t require JRs involvement on any level. Hahn knows his parameters, and makes the decisions.- Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
Correct. If a death in the family stopped the franchise from doing business in a timely manner, that would signal a problem with delegation. Not a good way to run a business.- Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
I feel you. What can go wrong?- Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
Last I checked the kid was bombing. Not in a good way. Deal.- Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
That vision has been more a Rays type vision though. So…they need to graduate to building the minors the more traditional way. Somthing not seen yet- Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
There’s no need to rebuild. They built. Question is what the Sox will do when the young players want a real free market deal instead of the unproven early deals they were willing to sign when they were desperate for cash and security. Kudos to the Sox for being able to get those done so far. It wont be that easy next time. Maybe these guys will be dealt first and the Sox pick up some Rays type deals. Preferably a lot of the pressure would be alleviated if they were better at signing international free agents. (Non Cubans lol)- Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
If you were following the particulars of the conversation, there were no real trade proposals, just hypotheticals to challenge people on their perceptions of certain players being untouchable.- Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
We’ll see what happens when it is time to pay up. Can see them paying Giolito, but when Kopech becomes a 20 game winner and wants 300 million. And Robert. And Eloy. We already know they won’t pay Rodon.- Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
Rays fans are used to the revolving door. it is uncomfortable for most other fans to consider living like that. Yet an acknowledgment has been made by most Rays fans that this is a necessity for that franchise to be doing. And you know, it is pretty smart anyway. If you can get yourself to root for the laundry instead of falling in love with players. Incidentally I have always been this way and it is pretty easy and stress free. But most fans love players and become loyal to them more than laundry half the time. People are different. But you know, a mercenary organization intent on being efficient with assets instead of sentimental can thrive pretty well as we have seen. This should be the Sox MO given the self imposed financial limits of the franchise. Something tells me the way while they have finally (FINALLY) gone all in on actual young and premium type talent like the other big time clubs, they still won’t be willing to pay up on most of it when the time comes for second contracts when they become hot property and subject to free market forces. Cool by me, get the trade machine up and running. They will never tell us that’s this is the long term plan, but a lot of fans that get sentimental about players should be ready.- Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
You would need to explain to me why in a hypothetical situation where Burger (or someone else young the Sox had) became a competent WAR 3rd baseman, why trading Moncada for equal talent at a different position of need would be funny instead of advantageous to the team. It seems appropriate that Moncada should simply volunteer to play somewhere else in that scenario ideally. Of course you could go the other way and trade Burger to fill the hole. But at this point in time, the Sox are trying dumb things like putting Burger at second…..now that’s funny. - Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
