  1. When I saw Bonemer play, he was definitely athletic. Dude moves like a strong safety. Very well built, straight line fast although not a ton of lateral quickness from what I observed.
  2. Not gonna pretend to know anything about these players, but I am a fan of the approach so far, prep bats with lots of upside and college pitchers. Would still like to see them roll the dice on a prep pitcher in the next few rounds.
  3. Totally fair. I think his athletic and character are what's giving him this juice right now.
  4. He concentrated a lot on football in high school, according to several of my buddies with connections to LT. That could be part of his issue with secondaries.
  5. He was filthy last night. That running fastball looked like Skenes with its insane tail into RHH, and a nasty slider to pair with it.
  6. He is really terrible at blocking, swipes at the ball rather puffing up with his chest. Really concerning.
  7. I thought there was still a decent chance for 3B. LF or 1B works if his bat is as good as it can be, for sure.
  8. Not sure that 11 is up to date, as it only has him playing 3 games with BIRM. Edit: That's actually the errors he's made playing SS. There are also 8 he's made play 3B, for 19 total. https://www.milb.com/player/caleb-bonemer-815352?stats=career-r-fielding-minors&year=2026 Either way, I agree. Like I said, I am a huge fan of his and expect it to even out.
  9. I lived in India briefly 25 years ago. Was by far the most popular there, soccer a distant second.
  10. Bonemer 0-4 with 3 errors. I am a huge fan of the guy, say him play live last season with Kanny and was fully on board - very athletic player and simple, powerful swing imo. But a rough go so far at AA. Rough go fielding all year, that's probably 20 errors or so on the season.
  11. Veneble has been pretty bad with decision making lately, esp bullpen use but other choices as well imo. IMO they need to buy a closer if they want to compete this year. I'd prefer Taylor stay on track for 100 innings this year and lots of 2 inning outings - but I understand that there are good arguments to make him the closer. Dominguez obviously can't do it. Closer should be reasonable to acquire at the deadline (prospect outside top 10), but I'm not sure who's out there and likely to be available.
  12. That's fair enough, I'm just guessing. I wouldn't give up Bonemer for him, certainly not Bonemer and McD for example.
  13. I get that, but I also think Detmers is a bit better than bottom of the rotation. And he's young. Don't think Davis Martin was even in the majors at his age. I think this org needs to buy some pitching because it's really pretty barren in the minors, and this guy at least has some control and some upside. There really isn't any for sure starting pitching at the major league level right now - hopefully Martin and Shultz but not close to sold on them. So, I guess, where is the pitching going to come from over the next few years? What are significant assets in your opinion for Detmers? A fringe top 100 prospect?
  14. Detmers has two more years before FA. I wasn't aware of that. Only 26, so he fits the early part of the window for sure even if you don't think they should go in heavy this season.
  15. Was just going to post this, they listed the Sox as a candidate for every starting pitching in the top 25.
  16. He has made a ton of errors.
  17. Freddy Peralta would be interesting. Not sure what it would take to get him but he's only got $4m left on his contract. Jose Soriano if they wanted to make a longer term play but I doubt they want to do that.
  18. Omaha, where the college world series is played.
  19. Acuna at least has a purpose, late game PR and defense/versatility. Kelenic is barely AAAA fodder and doesn't really do anything well.
  20. I think Lackey would be the guy to go to OF, with 55 speed and a cannon.
  21. We start to believe if the Sox are still within a couple two tree games at the end of July. My guess is they will hit a few injuries to pitchers and fall back pretty significantly at some point before then, but will still win 75ish games.
  22. This team is so much more professional than the last few years. They take mostly professional at bats. They don't chase nearly as much as they have in the past. They rarely let mistakes cascade. Really some fun baseball since the first couple series.
  23. Always thought the narrative on him was that you usually don't see SS of that level make it to college, and that he's one of the safest high level prospects in recent years and also has significant upside.
  24. The one he hit today, where his lower body was way out ahead and he basically just flipped at it and hit it out to left center, was among the most impressive displays of power I can remember seeing.
