Not sure why this won't happen sooner but great news nonetheless.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
Rusty_Kuntz replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd like to see him get closer to the plate and quiet his lower body a bunch. Shorten his stride a ton, simplify it, back hip and drive down to the ball. Cover the outside corner without lunging. He's got great bat speed, doesn't need to really focus on that, just make hard contact. He's also obviously become an elite base stealer, work on getting on base. -

Vaughn is just a lost cause. -
Good. Made a couple routine plays easily, moved well. Was on a scorched ball in the hole but it got by him. Would rather see him at SS over Burrowes, who just doesn't look like he can hit at all.

Was at the Kannapolis game tonight. Montgomery looked solid, although none of his hits was particularly well struck and he was clearly out at first on one of them. Mongollon's homer was a monster, and he hit three balls really hard. Good player although obviously not a very high ceiling. But generates great bat speed for his size. Really small guy, probably 5'5. Bonemer was, to me, easily the best prospect on the team and in the park. He just looks the part, thick and athletic looking, very fast bat. It was easy for him, he was all over the MB reliever who was tough for everyone else to square up and made Montgomery look kinda silly. Good fielder, really good athlete. Very high on him after watching, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes it to Birmingham this year. Wolkow is struggling. Burrows is overmatched.

Andrew Vaughn is Officially a Bust
Rusty_Kuntz replied to WookiesOnRitalin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Small, unathletic, right handed. The vast majority of humans don't have the physical ability to hit major league pitching. The less athletic someone is overall, in general the lower the chances they can do it. In a world where it's so, so difficult to predict how a college hitter will do against MLB pitching, it just doesn't make sense to dump so many resources into a guy who completely lacks both size and athleticism. I've mentioned this before but I saw him play live in Myrtle Beach when he was in A ball. They lined up for the national anthem about 80 feet from me. He was the shortest player on the team. He did hit a couple balls hard that night but also didn't look at ease in the box. Swung and missed a few times. I was apprehensive about him after that. -
Arlington Heights making stadium pitch to White Sox?
Rusty_Kuntz replied to GreatScott82's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't think there's anywhere the Sox could move that would be close to as good a market as Chicago. -
None of those balls was hit hard. Although the 0-2 to France after his first two swings was terrible.

Hope and Vargas would get it done imo. -
White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert

Just said what I would prefer, not that they should trade for a specific position. I do think if they trade Robert it will be for a primary prospect who they think will play up the middle, though, -

I'd think he will at some point, with De la Cruz there at SS for quite awhile and maybe to take a shot with Francona there. Maybe not for Robert though. -

I would prefer to get a SS as the primary piece for Robert, although I like Crawford as a prospect. Caba seems like he's got a good chance to be an MLB level SS defensively, but his offensive profile doesn't seem like more than a late order hitter who can get on and steal a base, but little else. My hope is that the Reds are interested. I'd prefer Arroyo to Caba or Crawford, and I actually really like Chase Petty as a second piece. -

Just using the MLB site. Not commenting on what I think he is, he certainly had a bad showing last year but is talented. And I said the Sox might not want him. I probably would ask for one of their young OF prospects instead as a second to Caba. https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/phillies/mick-abel-690953 Even if he's a 45 that seems like quite a bit for Robert right now. -

In that case it's way too much for Robert. I doubt Robert is worth 55-50-45-45. Philly could probably get Robert for Caba and Abel and just trade Bohm for the A's prospects. Although not sure the Sox would want Abel. -

How are the Phillies going to trade Max Muncy? -
I could have, but I've been pretty deep in the bottle lately.

I have never thought Vaughn had much of a ceiling but I don't think there's any reason not to give him one more year. What's the alternative? Sheets everyday? Or some journeyman?

I'd also add that on all message boards I've seen, for all sports, people use game threads primarily to vent.
