  1. I'd say the '25 trade deadline at the earliest. No way they can get his value before then.
  2. I meant if he was coming off that type of season right now. But, fair.
  3. I think most people would give up more than that for 2022 Cease. I doubt he'll be on the Sox on opening day.
  4. I can see this, espeically if you think all the issue is from losing 1 mph of his fastball. But it's really not uncommon for pitchers to have down seasons mixed in throughout their careers.
  5. If he was predicted to be his 2022 self for the next two years, his asking price would be much higher. Even if you get a mix of his three full seasons, his value should easily be two top 100 guys. If you assume he's going to be his 2023 version for the next two years maybe you are correct, but I'm not sure why anyone assumes that rather than assume that's his floor.
  6. Why would you throw out a player's best year, a year that was only two seasons ago, when determining his value? The sample size is only 3 years, so 33% of the same size he was elite. His floor is probably 3 WAR on a good team. His ceiling is 6+ WAR. I think for a guy who will cost very little that's worth two top 100 prospects and another lighter piece.
  7. Agreed. I don't consider them a real player for Cease.
  8. ATL probably isn't going to trade Smith-Sharver. I think they are planning on having him in the rotation. Past that it's Waldrep who looks like he could be great but is a few years off and can't be the centerpiece. Past that? No one who's been past High A. Just not enough there imo, especially with all pitchers.
  9. They have alot of older minor leaguers, minus the catchers. They wouldn't be my preferred trade partner.
  10. I would say Busch, Frasso and maybe someone like Wrobleski.
  11. He's been a great bargain his whole career, minus like two seasons. Finally getting paid at age 34.
  12. Basallo and Ortiz with a 20ish ranked young guy would do it for me.
  13. Any chance Philadelphia would still be interested after the Nola deal? One of Painter or Abel plus Crawford would be an interesting core imo. Crawford is young but huge upside and fits what Getz says he wants to focus on.
  14. All the earned runs he's given up for LA have been on solo homers.
  15. Lots of late movement on Nastrini's slider. Looks like he could develop two separate breaking balls out of that, a harder one that rides more and a softer one that dips. more like 12-8 spin. Like how he pounds the top of the zone with fastballs to left handers. Small sample size, but impressive.
  16. He should be traded, and Burger should play first full time, with Sheets spelling him occasionally and when Burger moves to 3B because Moncada is hurt.
  17. Last time he saw 275 was about 2018.
  18. 0/5 pitches reached the catcher's glove on a fly, I think one got past the plate on a fly.
  19. If he was an very good fielding 3rd baseman, his hitting would be fine. But he's pretty much a DH, where it's meh. With his inability to field or run, he's gotta be .900 ops guy with 25+ HR to be valuable. I will give him credit that he seems to have knack for driving in runs.
  20. Promotional banner incoming: "2023 White Sox - played well enough to make Tampa Bay bat in the bottom of the ninth . . . Twice!"
  21. Untradeable: Moncada, Benintendi, Hendriks, probably Clevinger Easy calls to trade this July: Lynn, Grandal, Graveman, Kelly Guys they need to get something for before they go: Giolito, Anderson Guys who are redundant on a decent team: Sheets, one of Burger/Vaughn/Eloy. My sense would be trade Eloy. Guys who could be traded: Cease, Kopech, Bummer Guys to keep: Robert, Crochet, probably Kopech and or Cease, Colas, and all the other youngsters. Acquire all prospects, tank this year and 2024.
  22. Sosa really needs to shorted his swing. Seems like he's always looping a bit, and always popping it up off the handle.
