The Lenyn Sosa Thread
He has improved a great deal. When he first came up seemed overwhelmed to me, had a huge and ineffiicient swing with a big loop. He's shortened his swing a bunch, become a great two strike hitter, and has good power. If he keeps improving, esp pitch selection, I think he can be a .780-.800 OPS guy, which plays even with a mediocre glove (at least for the next couple year on this team). Should be an everyday player between DH, 1B, 2B next year unless the Sox's free agent philosophy changes drastically.

Robert stays...
I think they were saying they are planning on picking up his option, not that he was for sure going to be on the roster next April.

Cubs grabbed another reliever too in addition to Soroka.

Baldwin back to Charlotte
He is clearly too good for AAA. Don't think he's a first baseman at all, and I'm not sure he's an everyday player at a single position on a decent team. Even on this team, if they dump Rojas and Capra, he's a 2B who will split time with Sosa and maybe get some reps at SS, but there really isn't any reason not to play Meidroth everyday there. I don't think he's a CF, so maybe also gives Benintendi a break against lefties. But doubtful he could play enough at one position.

Baldwin back to Charlotte
Did he look like he stood a chance in any of those at bats to you? Also made a really bad error, and body language was terrible. Again, I'd prefer they kept him up for awhile. He seems to have at least a shot to be more than a AAAA player. But he didn't look right imo.

Baldwin back to Charlotte
No doubt, but I think you can make the argument that they saw Baldwin was really struggling mentally and didn't want to ruin his confidence. That said I would still prefer they let him work through it. Capra obviously shouldn't be anywhere near an MLB roster but no one cares if he's struggling or not on a 100+ loss team.

Baldwin back to Charlotte
I'd like to see Baldwin get a longer look but to be fair he was a complete mess this go around, looked like a deer in the headlights.

Meidroth is a dude.- Ishbia taking control by 2029?
Not sure why this won't happen sooner but great news nonetheless.- Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
I'd like to see him get closer to the plate and quiet his lower body a bunch. Shorten his stride a ton, simplify it, back hip and drive down to the ball. Cover the outside corner without lunging. He's got great bat speed, doesn't need to really focus on that, just make hard contact. He's also obviously become an elite base stealer, work on getting on base.- 5/17 Sox @ Cubs 1:20PM

Amazing game.- 4/27 game thread Sox at Athletics 3:05 CDT
Vaughn is just a lost cause.- 4/22 Games
Good. Made a couple routine plays easily, moved well. Was on a scorched ball in the hole but it got by him. Would rather see him at SS over Burrowes, who just doesn't look like he can hit at all.- 4/22 Games
Was at the Kannapolis game tonight. Montgomery looked solid, although none of his hits was particularly well struck and he was clearly out at first on one of them. Mongollon's homer was a monster, and he hit three balls really hard. Good player although obviously not a very high ceiling. But generates great bat speed for his size. Really small guy, probably 5'5. Bonemer was, to me, easily the best prospect on the team and in the park. He just looks the part, thick and athletic looking, very fast bat. It was easy for him, he was all over the MB reliever who was tough for everyone else to square up and made Montgomery look kinda silly. Good fielder, really good athlete. Very high on him after watching, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes it to Birmingham this year. Wolkow is struggling. Burrows is overmatched.- Andrew Vaughn is Officially a Bust
Small, unathletic, right handed. The vast majority of humans don't have the physical ability to hit major league pitching. The less athletic someone is overall, in general the lower the chances they can do it. In a world where it's so, so difficult to predict how a college hitter will do against MLB pitching, it just doesn't make sense to dump so many resources into a guy who completely lacks both size and athleticism. I've mentioned this before but I saw him play live in Myrtle Beach when he was in A ball. They lined up for the national anthem about 80 feet from me. He was the shortest player on the team. He did hit a couple balls hard that night but also didn't look at ease in the box. Swung and missed a few times. I was apprehensive about him after that.- Arlington Heights making stadium pitch to White Sox?
I don't think there's anywhere the Sox could move that would be close to as good a market as Chicago.- 4/1 Sox vs. Twins 6:40PM CT
None of those balls was hit hard. Although the 0-2 to France after his first two swings was terrible.- Thorpe to get TJS per Merkin 3/22

Hope and Vargas would get it done imo.- White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
Just said what I would prefer, not that they should trade for a specific position. I do think if they trade Robert it will be for a primary prospect who they think will play up the middle, though,- White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
I'd think he will at some point, with De la Cruz there at SS for quite awhile and maybe to take a shot with Francona there. Maybe not for Robert though. - Sox Win to Split Series!
