Lots of late movement on Nastrini's slider. Looks like he could develop two separate breaking balls out of that, a harder one that rides more and a softer one that dips. more like 12-8 spin. Like how he pounds the top of the zone with fastballs to left handers. Small sample size, but impressive.

He should be traded, and Burger should play first full time, with Sheets spelling him occasionally and when Burger moves to 3B because Moncada is hurt.
-
Thanks for the shout out!

Last time he saw 275 was about 2018.
-
0/5 pitches reached the catcher's glove on a fly, I think one got past the plate on a fly.
-
If he was an very good fielding 3rd baseman, his hitting would be fine. But he's pretty much a DH, where it's meh. With his inability to field or run, he's gotta be .900 ops guy with 25+ HR to be valuable. I will give him credit that he seems to have knack for driving in runs.

Promotional banner incoming: "2023 White Sox - played well enough to make Tampa Bay bat in the bottom of the ninth . . . Twice!" -
Untradeable: Moncada, Benintendi, Hendriks, probably Clevinger Easy calls to trade this July: Lynn, Grandal, Graveman, Kelly Guys they need to get something for before they go: Giolito, Anderson Guys who are redundant on a decent team: Sheets, one of Burger/Vaughn/Eloy. My sense would be trade Eloy. Guys who could be traded: Cease, Kopech, Bummer Guys to keep: Robert, Crochet, probably Kopech and or Cease, Colas, and all the other youngsters. Acquire all prospects, tank this year and 2024.

Burger is just better than Sheets, as many people have already said. Don't know if you can get anything for Sheets but it's time to try, a mediocre bullpen arm would be an upgrade for this team. You also have to pencil in at least 40 missed games for Moncada and probably for Eloy. He gives Vaughn a rest here and there too. No reason why Burger shouldn't be in the starting lineup 100+ times per year and pinch hitting most other days.

30 pitches in first, 26 I think since then.

Lopez was as filthy as I've seen him, that slider to Taylor was ridiculous.
-
Get the bullpen in order. That might be a tough one until reinforcements arrive. Be more selective at the plate, especially with RISP. Hopefully that comes with time. Otherwise, this was an impressive opening series and looks like a team that can be good.

He should have had a hard take sign on 2-0.

Hard to imagine what the difference is in the chase rate between these two teams today. Gotta be 5:1 or so, right? -

He's not close to 5'11. I saw him at single A in 2019, he was easily the shortest player on the team. I'd be surprised if he's 5'9. -

Graveman buried a slider on 3-2 with two out and no one on to one of the worst hitters in the league. Not sure I understand that thought process. Been overall pretty happy so far, great starting pitching, hustle, and Moncada and Anderson look great. Really like Benitendi thus far as well, he gives solid, professional ABs consistently. But the pen is really thin and there's still a glaring lack of discipline at the plate. -

Sheets, Grandal, and Colas swung at all the balls and looked at all of the strikes. -
Cease threw a spinner in the first at bat, and then I don't think he threw another bad pitch all night. Incredible performance.

Murphy gets $72m/6 years from ATL. Am I wrong, or does that make the Grandal deal seem bloated AF? -

Why would NYM trade Alvarez, he's gotta be on pace to be their starting C pretty early in the year. They aren't going to roll Narvaez and Nido out there for long. -
1. Sign Rick Hahn to a long term deal. 2. Announce TLR is fully healthy and ready to roll in the Spring. 3. Announce Jerry Reinsdorf has the cardiovascular system of a 30 year old and is lookin forward to several White Sox WS championships before he turns 100. This would be a perfect offseason imo because it would grant me license to stop caring about this sickly, broken organization and let me go root for the Guardians or something.
