What can we dream on for Fedde?
The 3rd one is one of the sickest pitches I've ever seen.

What can we dream on for Fedde?
One of Beavers or Norby would be great. No chance at both. I think a young, talented OF with power who is far away from MLB is more likely, someone like Jonny Farmelo from SEA or Yophery Rodriguez from MIL.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
I feel like he's got a different vibe though, extremely high strung. Could be just my perception of course. But he really had no idea where the ball was going yesterday.

I think he's a mess. If you put him in a true high leverage situation, with a full park, very high chance he implodes.

A UCL injury several hours before a deal would have gotten done. J/K. I said the other day a top 200 guy and maybe change. If he keeps this up, it will be more than that. Borderline top 100 guy and another in the 250 range, one pitcher one OF? Something like that would be the dream take imo.

Ortega backed up by Maldonado is like the 24 Sox Bash Brothers!

That's fair enough. He's been a lot better than I thought, and I'm happy for him. Hopefully he keeps it up.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
It depends on how one defines 'decent' or whatever other adjective you wish to use. A top 30 org guy sounds nice, but that really means roughly a top 900 prospect in MiLB. Fedde's been good. My issue would be that he has no track record, not a guy who has ever sniffed the post season or really had a year where he'd be in the rotation for a contending team before this year. Also will probably come close to career MLB high in innings by the deadline if he continues to pitch well. That said, others have pointed out that there is always a stronger SP market than there should be. Could get a top 200 guy here, or more if lots of SP go down. I don't Flexen is going to get anything more than a total flier. I think Crochet won't because he's likely going to have to be shut down. He could command something good next year. Pham will almost certainly have some value, but it's capped because his position is pretty dime-a-dozen. Think most of the rest are likely fliers. Maybe if one of BP guys heats up.

Going for the brooming: Sox host Guardians 5/12 1:10 CDT
Ortega is just not a a MLB level player.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Tough to say if Cease would have done as well in Chicago this year. Last year's terrible team probably weighed on him, per his own words, and it likely would have to some extent this year too.

Robbie Grossman traded to TEX for RHP Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa
They are setting up that Birmingham Barons championship run, getting ready for the 2025 marketing campaign. "Boys from B'Ham" or the like. I'm sure Schriffin will discuss how great this move is when the Sox go down 5-0 again tonight.

I can't believe he wasn't claimed!

Demote Vaughn
Just my opinion, obviously, but he doesn't really have the pitch recognition ability to excel at the MLB level. He's never hit righties well, and he clearly has no command of the zone. His ability to react to breaking balls just isn't there. This happens to many players, the extent of their physical ability (fast twitch, hand eye ability) isn't good enough. Add in that he lacks the leverage to drive the ball consistently with launch angle when he does get something he can handle, and you have a below average hitter. I saw him play a couple times at single A, and even though he has a couple well struck balls I was nervous about him then. He didn't stand out in any way, struck out a couple times, didn't hammer hitter's pitches consistently. It's a shame, the first thing is something it's very difficult to scout for, something like the processing ability of a QB going up levels. But Vaughn also just isn't really an athlete, and athletes are going to have a better chance to adapt.

Guess Trade Values of Sox Starters
Why would a team give up assets for someone who they may not be able to play, or play effectively, at the trade deadline this year if they can get someone who will be? Most teams make deadline acquisitions for a playoff run. Crochet really doesn't fit that bill even if he can give a start or two here or there. That's not really what teams are looking for at that point. That said if he has a successful and healthy 100 or so innings this year, he should be quite valuable moving forward this offseason or next year.

Guess Trade Values of Sox Starters
None of them have any trade value past maybe a flier for Fedde. Crochet probably will for the long term but he's not going to hold any value for this year because he's going to have to be shut down.

Garrett Crochet named Opening Day starter

Was my favorite acquisition last year. Happy to see he's putting it together thus far.- South Loop stadium name ideas
Cominsky Park, to reflect proper South Side pronunciation.- Grifol, Sox out to prove doubters wrong in 2024 (Merkin Optimism Series)
- Sox looking at building in South Loop
If they do this I'd like something modeled on Old Comiskey, but that has no upper deck in LF to offer a view of downtown. Even if it isn't the best view, having the city present will be a draw.- Sox looking at building in South Loop
I know, I wrote that. Was agreeing with you premise.- Sox looking at building in South Loop
I agree with your overall point but Baltimore (Memorial Stadium), Pittsburgh (Three Rivers) Cincinnati (Riverfront), Philly (Veterans), Detroit (Tigers Stadium), and Cleveland (Municipal) were all in the city and in three the new park was built in almost the same location as the old park. Unless you meant they abandoned plans for suburban parks? Either way, I think that reiterates your point even more: baseball has largely always been played in denser urban locations and it remains easily the dominant landscape for it today.- 2024 BA Top 100 Prospects
It did, but of course he's young, and his numbers were clearly better after the trade than before it. - All aboard the Nastrini Train
