  1. Russia will do whatever China is OK with them doing. If China isn't willing to impose sanctions, then the western sanctions have limited impact.
  2. Money talks. If the US isn't willing to boycott over this unfairness, then it will continue. Eliminating US TV audiences from the Olympics will get their attention. Would suck for all the US athletes so I understand why they don't do that but that's what it would take.
  3. Both teams have offensive lines that leave something to be desired, especially the Bengals. That's going to lead to a very disjointed game. Also, I didn't like the new score bug.
  4. Seems to me that the Bengals OL is who's not ready for primetime. Burrow/Chase/Higgins bailed them out as much as they could but Rams defense was too much for them.
  5. (10:55 - 4th) (No Huddle, Shotgun) J.Burrow pass short right intended for T.Boyd INTERCEPTED by R.Smith at CHI 47. R.Smith for 53 yards, TOUCHDOWN.C.Santos extra point is GOOD, Center-P.Scales, Holder-P.O'Donnell. (10:14 - 4th) (Shotgun) J.Burrow pass short left intended for T.Higgins INTERCEPTED by Ja.Johnson at CIN 39. Ja.Johnson to CIN 36 for 3 yards (T.Higgins). (8:06 - 4th) (Shotgun) J.Burrow pass short middle intended for T.Boyd INTERCEPTED by A.Blackson (A.Ogletree) [A.Ogletree] at CIN 15. A.Blackson to CIN 9 for 6 yards (J.Mixon; R.Reiff). Still a little bit hard to believe this guy is in the Super Bowl.
  6. You can't fit a modern NFL stadium inside that historic shell. The only way to make it work is to level everything and start over (which I'd be fine with). Maybe you could keep the Western columns and work that into the new design.
  7. Curling got lots of TV eyeballs even before the 2018 gold. The 2000s brought multiple cable channels where one channel could show lots of curling without infringing on the figure skating and downhill skiing coverage that have the widest appeal. Now we have Peacock where every event can be watched live or on demand at any time afterwards.
  8. Every Olympic sport is some combination of skill and strategy. None of us are ever going to have the skill to make it to an Olympics, but we can follow along with the strategy. Of all the sports, curling is weighted (pun intended) more towards strategy than any other sport.
  9. Near-perfect game from Shuster to bounce back from the Sweden loss.
  10. That's so wrong. He's the GOAT at his position. Bryant Young? I'd honestly never heard of him until tonight. He gets in before Hester?
  11. People are way too outcome-oriented. Once you choose to drive drunk, it's mostly luck whether or not you kill someone, but we give people who don't kill someone a free pass. It was only the first DUI for the guy who killed one of my best friends. I'm sure as hell not inviting someone with two DUI's to any party that serves alcohol. They go out and kill someone driving home from the party and I'd feel responsible. Wouldn't invite someone known for sexual assault either, but that's really my point. Don't say one can't be in the league but the other can.
  12. Fine, let anyone under 18 stay and compete and send the rest of the team home.
  13. If she tested positive for a banned substance, the entire ROC delegation should be sent home. Figure skaters, hockey team, curling teams--all of them.
  14. Oh, no, they learned their lesson. They're not going to do it aga . . . https://www.espn.com/olympics/story/_/id/33249419/team-figure-skating-medal-ceremony-beijing-olympics-delayed-legal-issue
  15. Yes, but the only real punishments are no flag and no anthem, which are pretty superficial. Actually banning Russians from competing would have had more teeth and been more of a deterrent.
  16. Paying Adams top dollar is what you should do when you have the rest of the team in place and are ready to make a serious run at the Super Bowl. Right now, the priority HAS to be OL/DL/DB. You get a stud OL and teams will have to rush 5 instead of 4 to get to the QB and suddenly the WR who are already there are a lot better at getting open.
  17. That wasn't intended to be a justification for allowing Bauer to play. It was intended to demonstrate how bad the LaRussa hiring was.
  18. How much worse is beating the shit out of a woman who literally asked for it than getting two DUIs?
  19. I'm pleased that NBC is not giving China a free pass on all the human rights violations.
  20. Along that same vein, more money for the owners is not going to lead to lower ticket prices, nor is more money for the players going to lead to higher ticket prices. Ticket prices are market driven. Kind of the same concept as higher corporate taxes don't cause higher consumer prices, but that's a whole other topic.
  21. Did they really need to freeze out Honduras, the last place team in the group, for a competitive advantage? I could see maybe playing Mexico there, but even then I don't think it's a good idea.
  22. Even if in one specific instance you know who you already want to hire, I think the "Rooney Rule" interview still helps because the minority candidates accumulate the experience of the interview process which might help them land the next job. I do think it's weird though, that because the Bears have a minority GM they weren't racist for not hiring him but the teams with white GMs who didn't hire him are.
