  1. Would have offered Schwarber this much before Conforto.
  2. Do I think Conforto would be better than Vaughn/Sheets/Engel for RF? Yes. Do I think the difference would be large enough to throw 5/$100 at him? No. Offer him 2/$35 or 3/$45 and if someone beats that offer, let them have him and play the trade market in July. I think the team is helped a lot more by trading for Montas, Manaea, or whoever else is on the market. If there's only one transaction left before the season starts, that's the one I hope it is. Schwarber, on the other hand, I would have matched or even topped what he got. He would have been a beast in between Jose and Eloy.
  3. He only had routine plays and made them all. Not really challenged.
  4. I guess the Bears are going to try having just one Pringle.
  5. Perhaps the Sox have to throw in someone else to even out the trade?

  7. We have the rumor from NSC about Kimbrel, but nothing on the SP or RF front for a while now. Let's see if a fresh start brings fresh info.
  8. 191 pages and nothing major has happened. Maybe we need to kill this thread and start an "Offseason Part 3" thread.
  9. My extended family has Illini, Boilermakers, Spartans and Fighting Irish so yeah, Michigan is not popular in my family.
  10. What if the Sox have to eat $4 million to trade Kimbrel? Does that $4 millions count against the Sox CBT?
  11. You'd still have Keuchel and Kopech, which is exactly what you have now.
  12. If Rodon had accepted the QO, the Sox would have had him for $3M less than market value on a low-risk one year deal. If he declined it then they're in the same situation as they are now but with an extra draft pick. It was 100% a win-win.
  13. Now the White Sox are in the trade contention, the Twins and the Yankees are also pursuing pitcher Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea, per a source familiar with the situation.
  14. @Harold's Leg Lift any idea if/when we might see the next move?
  15. There are already 7 really good bats in this lineup, with an 8th still a possibility in RF. No need to shove Burger into 2B and make the defense worse. Fine with him working out there to be an emergency option though.
  16. Montas has 2 years of control compared to 1 for Manaea, but Manaea is better and I'd rather gamble that he'll sign an extension to stay home.
  17. I doubt it. TA and Jose appear to have emeritus status in the #1 and #3 spots and it's going to make this lineup less than maximized.
  18. I'm pretty sure Harold was on here earlier suggesting that there are multiple suitors for Kimbrel and that a deal may not be imminent. Sounds like a bidding war to me. Sox might even be running teams offers by Oakland to see if there's anybody they like to be part of a deal for Manaea.
  19. If signing a big bat is contingent on moving Kimbrel, then a bidding war could be counterproductive if it takes too long.
  20. Everybody wants to poo poo spending money on bullpens because, aside from closers, bullpen pieces aren't flashy acquisitions. The lemmings want the big names even if they aren't the best option.
