  1. Minnesota's offense + Cleveland's pitching would be a hell of a team.
  2. This is my prediction also, with the caveat that Cleveland could drop below KC if they start trading a bunch of guys.
  3. Everybody take note that Parkman predicted the Sox to win a playoff series.
  4. Active Roster page on the Sox website lists 32 players. Crochet, Kelly, Lynn and Mercedes are all going on the IL so that gets it down to 28.
  5. If you're watching the broadcast please tell me what number McGuire is wearing.
  6. If they haven't even had anybody call about him, then I agree, just DFA him and move on. However, if they've gotten some calls and some interest, then give him a half dozen starts in April to see what he can do.
  7. No, any team that doesn't keep him on the active roster would have to DFA him.
  8. Any of 28 teams that want him are going to need to trade for him. Otherwise, he's the starting RF for the Orioles.
  9. Anybody know what number McGuire is wearing? Very unlikely that it's 10, which is what's on the whitesox.com roster page.
  10. The cannons can be timed to Keuchel pitches flying over the outfield wall.
  11. I was also saying that SP was a priority over RF. That said, Kimbrel wasn't going to bring back a SP and did bring back a RF so priorities weren't really relevant in that deal.
  12. My final grade is a B-. The Cueto signing ticked it up from a C+. To get an A, they would have needed to give Rodon the QO, and assuming that he would have rejected it, trade for a SP better than Cueto. I think all the other moves were good. I think Harrison/Leury at 2B is going to be better than everybody expects.
  13. You apparently didn't read through to the last sentence.
  14. Which is exactly why they should have given it to him.
  15. If I had could only have one and have him on my roster the entire season I'd take Keuchel because he'll pitch more innings, but I think over whatever number of innings Cueto can provide, he'll be better than Keuchel.
  16. This is a very good move. It would have been a very good move even if Lynn hadn't gotten hurt. A lot of people seem to have missed the fact that the Sox aren't on the hook for the full $4.5M. His salary is prorated only for the time he spends in the majors. So basically $25/K per day he's on the active roster. Nobody is expecting him to pitch a full season. If they get 10 5-inning starts out of him at a 4.5 ERA, that's a big help. That's fewer starts that someone like Lambert has to come up and make, or fewer starts that Lopez has to make which keeps him in the pen and makes it stronger, or, in a best case scenario, it's fewer innings that Keuchel has to pitch when nobody expects him to even be as good as a 4.5 ERA. I still think they should have pulled the trigger on Manaea or one of the other starters who got traded, but this is probably the next best thing.
  17. I think I said this in another thread, but I'm OK with trading Vaughn for a 3+ WAR pitcher, but not for some guy who might not be better than Keuchel.
  18. If he's still intending to find a team and pitch, wouldn't he have been getting himself ready by throwing on his own, like to college kids or something? Seems like it shouldn't take too long to get a vet like that up and running.
  19. I would trade Vaughn straight up for a pitcher with at least 2 years of control and projecting at least 3.0 WAR this year. I would trade Vaughn for a pitcher with 1 year of control and projecting at least 3.0 WAR <OR> at least 2 years of control projecting at least 2.0 WAR this year if we also got mid level pitching prospect in addition.
  20. I don't buy for a minute that he's been in the system for 40,320 years.
  21. No chance Kopech throws enough innings to get CY consideration. I could see Cease putting it all together this year and making a run.
