  1. You have 6 combinations that make sense. Just decide how much you want each guy on the bench and go from there. LF Eloy, 1B Abreu, DH Vaughn LF Eloy, 1B Abreu, DH Mercedes LF Eloy, 1B Vaughn, DH Mercedes LF Eloy, 1B Vaughn, DH Abreu LF Vaughn, 1B Abreu, DH Eloy LF Vaughn, 1B Abreu, DH Mercedes
  2. Kopech not being in the rotation isn't a matter of being blocked--it's a matter of wanting to limit his innings in 2021. He'll very likely be a starter in 2022, but he's not going to take a regular rotation spot this year.
  3. I like Madrigal in the 9th spot once the full lineup gets back together, but he's the right guy to fill the 2nd slot right now. I also don't like Madrigal batting 8th at NL parks in front of the pitcher (other than Cease apparently)
  4. Keuchel vs Gray, 11:35 am Today is the day that the (tied for) first place Sox cinco the Reds
  5. Cease gets 3 hits off pitchers and then Leury goes and GIDP against a position player.
  6. Ruiz working his way out of the "last resort" role.
  7. This is probably Cease's last inning, but they have to let him hit in the 7th, don't they?
  8. When Cease singled in the 5th, his OPS went down from 2.500 to 2.333
  9. I was looking up Cease's batting stats just for the hell of it and apparently, in 31 career starts, he's managed to never start in an NL park.
  10. Vaughn in LF, Garcia in CF, Madrigal batting 2nd
  11. I don't know why, but they tend to wait until they need the roster spot before moving someone to the 60 day.
  12. Have they had him throw with the blurred vision to see if it has improved his control?
  13. DH tomorrow means another 7 inning game for Cease, good for him.
  14. My first ever game thread Cease vs Hoffman May the 4th be with the Sox today.
  15. As bad as things seem, at least we aren't at the point where Reynaldo Lopez is in the starting rotation.
  16. I think TLR being in charge makes it more likely that the Sox make a win-now trade. This team is set up nicely for the next 3-4 years, but TLR is very unlikely to be here that long and is probably putting a lot of pressure on JR to take on salary to make that deal.
  17. The Cubs wouldn't want much of value if they could get enough salary relief.
  18. Probably wouldn't take much in return as far as prospects go if the Sox would be willing to take on a healthy chunk of that salary. Just need TLR to tell JR he absolutely has to have him.
