  1. Yes, and as a result I rarely post in the evening and am usually on during the day when I'm on my laptop.
  2. I've seen people mention giving him a qualifying offer. Do we even know if that's going to be a thing any more?
  3. SS is 10 times harder to play than RF. An above average defensive SS should be just fine in RF. I mean, Vaughn is a 1B and is handling LF just fine. Eaton is going to do nothing but K against this lefty. Now, batting Leury 8th is stupid. I get that he has to play CF for a while but he should never bat anywhere other than 9th. Vaughn should also be ahead of Grandal.
  4. No, it's not. I didn't like Len when he was with the Cubs, and it turns out the reason wasn't just because he was with the Cubs. I rather enjoy Jason's sense of humor. Not old enough to get all of his references, but he provides enough context that I usually get it anyway.
  5. I get that calls right on the edges are tough, but there's one pretty close to the middle of the zone that got missed.
  6. Tawny Kitaen, 59. Maybe that's why the Indians got no hit last night, they were inconsolable.
  7. Gonna say it every inning until they do it--these hitters need to get their heads out of their asses.
  8. Here's the only figures you need: In 1980, Cubs attendance exceeded the Sox by 0.5% In 2019, Cubs attendance exceeded the Sox by 187.6% That is the fruit of Reinsdorf's ownership.
  9. Eaton back in RF, Leury in CF, Vaughn in LF, Collins catching.
  10. How serious does everyone think the Arlington Heights stuff is?
  11. He won't quit, and it's pretty clear at this point that ownership is not going to be swayed by the opinions of the fan base, so he won't be fired either. Unless he's stupid enough to get another DUI, he'll be here at least through the end of this season and likely 1-2 more seasons. The only thing that might change things is KW and Hahn going to JR together and telling him that either Tony goes or they both go, but even then JR might pick Tony.
  12. 1B/LF/RF are positions where most of your value comes from your offense. Someone like Garcia or Hamilton can't possibly supply enough added defensive value to make up for the downgrade in offense. Vaughn has gotten his feet wet to the point that he should be in LF every day until both Robert and Eloy are back.
  13. Manager update: Manager did not start his 121 wRC+ 2B in 5 of 29 games.
  14. Who is in charge of the entire staff?
  15. Since the advent of the wild card, every AL team except the Sox has had at least one occurrence of making the playoffs in consecutive years.
  16. Just about every plate appearance Hamilton got could have gone to Leury, Vaughn or Mendick, and most of Leury and Lamb's plate appearances could have gone to Mendick. Very poor roster and lineup decisions were made in reaction to the injuries.
  17. I said "could have double switched for Abreu instead of Vaughn" I thought that was pretty clear in suggesting that, at the time they made the double switch that replaced Vaughn, they could have replaced Abreu instead. Maybe for your benefit I needed to mark up the lineup card and post the image, but I think everybody else understood what I meant.
  18. Thanks for the long patronizing explanation of the double switch. I was suggesting double switch Lamb for Kopech and Hendriks for Abreu, and let Vaughn run or pinch run for him with Mendick. Vaughn is still a better option to run than Hendriks or Abreu.
  19. Could have double switched for Abreu instead of Vaughn. That leaves Vaughn as a better runner on 2nd and still has Hendriks 8 spots away in the batting order.
  20. Stupid f**k put Hendriks out there when he didn't have to.
  21. Guess this is the end of my brief game thread streak.
