  1. You just missed a fun inning on Marquee network. 4-0 Braves.
  2. Launch angle is a big thing now, and launch angle helps less when it's cold.
  3. First release of 2020 Census data today. Illinois one of three states to lose population since 2010 and one of seven to lose a Congressional seat. Will be interesting to see how "creative" the state legislature can get in order to get two incumbent Republicans into the same district.
  4. If anyone has time to do this, tracking this game by game and seeing what the net +/- is for the season would be interesting.
  5. They are horrible but play in a weak division so 70 games should be manageable. No team in that division is going to go 14-5 against them.
  6. Only three teams are > 5 games out of first in their division. The Twins share this status with the Rockies and Tigers.
  7. Should have bet some money on it.
  8. If the Sox didn't already have a guy with great speed who can hit for average and power, Madrigal would be a good guy for the leadoff spot, but that spot belongs to TA as long as he's with the Sox. I wouldn't mind Madrigal batting 2nd vs LHP but Eaton is doing great in that spot vs RHP right now. There's nothing wrong with having a really good hitter batting 9th. Helps get the lineup turned over more often.
  9. Sox currently sitting in 2nd WC spot 1 1/2 games ahead of LAA/TB, 1/2 game behind SEA for 1st WC, 1 1/2 behind KC in the division, tied with KC for longest current win streak.
  10. Twins literally threw the game away in the 10th.
  11. Let's go back to the segregation of the 1960s south, except instead of by race, it's by vaccination status. Vaccinated = 100/300 levels Not vaccinated = 500 level
  12. Don't see how this happens as long as teams get to keep all their own local TV revenue. What if service time got based on when you are drafted? You start making major league minimum X years after being drafted, become arbitration-eligible Y years after being drafted, reach free agency Z years after being drafted. The problem is that baseball doesn't lend itself to teams having long layoffs due to having a bye. It's hard to find a format for some number of teams between 10 and 16 that doesn't have teams on a bye for too long.
  13. About 13 baserunners per game. Yes, that' s a lot, but it's still only 1 in most innings, and that 1 is never a home run, and in the other innings you mostly getting 0-1 runs with 2 baserunners in an inning. Contact doesn't automatically mean runners advance. There are still flyouts and groundouts that don't advance runners.
  14. You have to string hits together just to get one run, and 3+ run innings will almost never happen. You can't win in today's game without power.
  15. I think I've said this before. If you have 9 Madrigals in your lineup, you'll have an awful offense. However, having one of them amongst a lineup of powerful free swingers is very useful. When he comes up with runners on base, you have a good chance that he won't kill the rally.
  16. Would be quite the story if there is a need for a Sox pitcher next inning.
  17. Possibly, but he left a lot of them up and over the plate. Much easier to hit even if you don't know it's coming.
  18. He's a worthless piece of shit who didn't deserve that huge contract. Hope that helps.
  19. Red Sox do this every year, so they have a blueprint for how to prepare.
  20. Vaughn can go into LF when Leury moves to the mound in the 7th.
  21. With a bullpen game coming up Wednesday, I think the Sox have to have Gio go 6 no matter how bad he is. Doesn't matter if you lose by 1 or 10.
