  1. Of course the series at Toronto is before school is out.
  2. My guess is next time Kopech's rotation spot comes up, Martin takes Banks' roster spot and makes the start.
  3. Ended up in the middle of a student loan forgiveness conversation and thought I'd run it by the experts here. Apparently there might be student loan forgiveness of up to $10k for people making < $125k. One of the people in the conversation makes > $125k but his wife makes < $125k and she's the one with the loans. Is there a going to be a different limit for married couples? If not, would switching filing status to married filing separately work? I had nothing to add since I've never filed a tax return.
  4. With less than two strikes, you should be looking to drive the ball in the air. With two strikes, get some contact. Sox seem to be using a 2-strike approach on every pitch.
  5. For someone of Hahn's background, if the family's financial security is the priority then it would be as easy as walking out and finding another job. Probably not in baseball, but almost certainly one that pays at least as much if not more than he's making now. If seeing the Sox win a championship is the priority, then there has to be a calculation of when things have gotten so far off on the wrong track that leaving is the only way to possibly get them back on track. We may not have been at that point previously, but it sure seems like we're there now.
  6. Taking injuries out of the equation for a minute, this is a key point. This team is less than the sum of its parts.
  7. https://theathletic.com/3457551/2022/08/01/jason-benetti-fox-espn/?source=twitterpcads&ad_id=37084642&twclid=214cogvudsvg8ta4zx1375bt4g
  8. I don't anymore. I was already planning to switch over to Indiana's LLWS game at 2, now I'm definitely doing it.
  9. Even if they didn't know Kopech was hurt, this was an opportunity to skip his spot in the rotation given that he's so far over what he's pitched before. Just dumb.
  10. Did any of the beat writers talk to Tony about what the discussions were around whether or not to play this game, or were they all too busy eating hot dogs?
  11. Dugouts being packed up and fans are leaving but none of our on the ball beat writers have said anything.
  12. What's really fair is a forfeit, but I get that MLB isn't gonna do that so at the very least they should make the game up in Chicago during their next series.
  13. It stopped raining two hours ago and it doesn't appear that they've been even trying to get that water cleaned up. This is the baseball equivalent of a high school kid pulling the fire alarm because he didn't study for his geometry test.
  14. That shouldn't be allowed. If you can't get your field playable you should forfeit.
  15. I guess we should add Roger Bossard to the 'Do not Fire' list.
  16. If the field is not playable in less than 60 minutes after is stops raining that should be a forfeit. Sox are in the middle of playing in 3 different cities in 3 days
  17. Benetti is supposed to be impartial. Stone is there for the White Sox perspective.
  18. OK, so 41 are listed because Aybar is still there but he got DFA'd so that's the discrepancy.
  19. No announcement yet, but the roster page has Carlos Perez on the active roster wearing #21 and Yaz on the 10-day IL. Still 41 guys listed on the 40-man roster.
