  1. Maybe this is a generational thing, but I've never had any interest in listening to people on the radio discuss sports. Now that I think about it, other than the rare time that I'm in a car during a Sox/Bears/ND game, I can't think of any other time I listen to any radio station for anything.
  2. FOX has an exclusive window at 6 so this game has to be at 3 or earlier
  3. Yeah but by the 12th inning, the other team's gonna have to use a lefty reliever so even the Sox score by then.
  4. I don't know how two baseball teams can both fail to score in three straight innings starting with a runner on 2nd, but the Yankees and Cubs have managed to do just that. 1-1 in the 13th.
  5. It is, but that's not good. Being this bad vs RHP can't work because teams will just stay away from their LHP.
  6. "within the past 3 years" is such an odd time frame. I'm guessing those numbers are better than the last 2 or 4 years. Somebody was crunching all numbers for TLR this morning.
  7. 1) I'm not sure AJ would even be interested in managing 2) If he is, he needs to do it, at least at first, somewhere other than Chicago where there's less pressure. He'd be set up for failure in Chicago
  8. There's a difference between physical errors and stupid decisions. Players are going to make physical errors, and when you don't have 8 guys who excel both offensively and defensively, you have to sacrifice a little bit of one, the other, or both. Burger made a physical error, albeit at the worst possible time. Cease failed at overcoming that error. Sousa appeared to be hustling to first and just got his footwork messed up. Making sound decisions using all the available data is what the manager needs to do in order to overcome the kinds of challenges that Burger at 3B and Sousa in the bullpen unavoidably present.
  9. With 2 outs runners are going full gas right on contact. They don't have to hesitate to check whether or not it might be a ball in the air that could be caught. In any case, not even bothering to use your best lefty and then making a decision based on platoon advantage makes it even worse.
  10. With 2 outs? No. None. Zero. You're one strike away from getting out of the inning. Get him to chase one bad pitch, or get a favorable call on a pitch 3 inches off the plate and you're home free. On any given ball hit into play, the odds of getting a ground ball that can produce an out at 2nd but not at 1st are incredibly tiny.
  11. I mentioned this back when TLR was hired, but I had a friend killed by a drunk driver and I'm boycotting buying tickets for home games or gear or anything else, basically everything except watching games on TV, until he's gone anyway, so I can't go to fewer games [I did break this because one of my best friends wanted to go to a game for his birthday, but that's it]. My dad and I have kicked around going to an away game, possibly KC for the doubleheader in August, but not if things don't turn around.
  12. probably would have given up fewer runs than Sousa.
  13. If the ump doesn't screw Jose it would have been two.
  14. Yes, Burger fucked up but Cease had every opportunity to get out of the inning giving up just 1 or 2 runs but he fell apart. You can't put it all on Burger.
  15. Yet many think this team will be better if he plays 2B.
  16. Got two runs in, but still didn't get a hit with the bases loaded.
