  1. They had a day off yesterday. Lopez-Foster-Bummer-Graveman-Hendriks all available.
  2. Not sure running Kopech back out there at 85 pitches is the best idea.
  3. Using a word that isn't a word to drive home this point is acceptable.
  4. Only hope is for the Sox to give up one run and then Kimbrel pitches the 9th.
  5. Gonna have to have a couple 10 pitch innings if he wants to get through 6. Both him and Cease, the next step for them is to start getting through innings on fewer pitches so they can consistently go 6 innings.
  6. The Dodgers hitters are up there looking to walk. Keep blasting the zone Michael.
  7. I'm sure we'll see all the lefties in the lineup, so probaby: Moncada 5, Vaughn 9, Robert 8, Abreu 3, Grandal 2, Sheets DH, Pollock 9, Garcia 4, Mendick 6
  8. Vaughn was 23 when he got called up, Kath is 19. Also, Vaughn spent 2020 at the alternate site, which is essentially AA/AAA.
  9. Maybe if his screen name wasn't taken from such a terrible movie his attitude would change?
  10. Sometime within the next couple weeks, Eloy Jimenez and Tim Anderson will return from the IL. Barring additional injuries (which always seems more likely than not), two players will need to go. I've listed all six possibilities here. (I'm not including any discussion about Grandal because in the very unlikely event they moved/released him, it would be for another catcher and not Eloy or TA). Gavin Sheets - Case for him to go: Can be optioned, has a .601 OPS overall and only .648 vs RHP, doesn't play any position well other than 1B. Providing no value of any kind to the team at all. Case for him to stay: there really isn't one at this point The more difficult decision is the second one to go. Jake Burger - Case for him to go: Can be optioned, assuming that Moncada is not headed for another IL stint, Burger is blocked at his position, he's also been dreadful vs RHP with a .580 OPS which is also the team's biggest weakness. Case for him to stay: He's been the biggest spark for this team the past week and is crushing lefties to the tune of a 1.174 OPS. There's clearly a scenario where he sticks around, getting 1-2 starts a week at 3B and also getting DH time vs LHP. Danny Mendick - Case for him to go: When Anderson comes back, becomes one of four middle infielders on the roster, and he's the only one who can be optioned. Despite his hot start this season, has a .662 career OPS and isn't likely to keep it up. Case for him to stay: Right now he's outproducing Harrison and Garcia by a lot, could be sending the wrong message to the team to keep those two and send Mendick down. Josh Harrison - Case for him to go: Putrid .541 OPS to date, costs less to release than Leury. Case for him to stay - costs more to release than optioning Mendick, has been hot this past week and might be turning things around Leury Garcia - Case for him to go: absolutely obscene .464 OPS negates any value he has as a switch hitter, Vaughn's ability to play OF and Mendick's ability to play all IF positions negates his value as a utility player. Case for him to stay - would cost a lot to release, longest tenured Sox player, manager favorite. Who I think should go: Sheets, then Garcia Who I think will go: Sheets, then Mendick
  11. I think we've all been a little bit too hard on Tony LaRussa. Last year's biggest controversy was a player swinging at a 3-0 pitch when the team was ahead by 10+ runs and he's totally eliminated that problem this year.
  12. #1 priority at the trade deadline has to be a quality LH bat. Doesn't matter what position he plays, he can DH if it's not an available spot on the field.
  13. Sox finish the season 11-8 vs Yankees/Rays/Red Sox and you'll take that in any season. 1-7 vs Guardians/Twins and 4-4 vs Royals is what's killing them right now.
  14. Hopefully it's Sheets they're making it tough on and not each other.
  15. THE WHITE SOX WON A GAME ALLOWING MORE THAN 4 RUNS!!!
  16. That's the best Graveman has looked in a while.
  17. Before the lineup card was filled out would have been the appropriate time to put Engel in RF and Vaughn at 1B.
  18. My guess was since it was his first start in the OF the plan was for only 5 innings. Would be nice if AAA had a rule where a rehabbing player can move from a fielding position to DH mid-game.
  19. Tampa getting screwed by their own shitty field on that one.
  20. There's Mendick and Romy Gonzalez and Sanchez so there's no shortage of utility guys in the system. There was no reason to sign both Leury and Harrison.
  21. I would too but Leury has 3 years guaranteed and Harrison only 1 so Harrison would be the first one jettisoned if it came to it.
